I bet it's the biggest paycheck he's ever seen, and they saved a bundle by not casting Nick Cage.

Win win.

For them anyway.

They could've picked Nicholas Cage!? And 2012, a TV series!?

!

This guy has made fucking end of the world movies and blown billions of dollars his whole fucking career. But they sell. Over and over and over again. I wish telling a great story sold as well...

Posted by EgosXII on Nov-18-2009 08:22:

not hiring nic cage? apparently he owes the tax office 6mil and could go bankrupt, he probably would have taken the role! hahaha

also in insanely high amounts paid to actors..

depp's getting 38 mill for the next pirates of the carribean... fair enough if you ask me, they are terrible films...

I saw this yesterday. It felt like hitler made a movie but instead of using nazis, he used John Cusack. Maybe he did use Nazis then.

this post makes as much sense as the movie.

Meh. Saw this last weekend, and while cheesy and over the top it wasn't as bad as I expected. Yeah, of course the story was going to be bullshit but the effects were really amazing. Probably the best special effects I've ever seen in a movie. Danny Glover was abysmal.

He should have said "I'm too old for this shit" instead of that gay line about his dead wife when that ship came crashing down on him.

yeah, nothing spectacular about the special effects at all. looked very cg imo.. and the story was so bad and retarded..

i actually fell asleep while watching the movie, that's how bad the story was. and if you fall asleep while watching a movie then IT'S NOT "so bad it'll become good".

10,000 bc was so bad it became good, i mean LOL, when that old lady "mother nature" or what the fuck her name was,
"transferred" her life-force or whatnot to other chick? LOL..

2012 was the worst movie i've seen this year, and i've seen ALOT of bad movies this year.

So what movie would you say has better special effects then?

Both the movie the day after tomorrow and 2012 end the same way, view of earth from space showing the world looks like after the destruction

what i mean is taht there is absolutely nothing groundbreaking about the special effects. its like.. okay, they look good, but it's not mindblowingly good when compared to other movies this year.
think star wars, when it was released in 77 (or even better, empire strikes back in 81) the special effects were so spectacular, it was like nothing you had ever seen before, and it wasn't JUST the space scenes that were beatifuly made, it was (nearly) everything.

imo special effects haven't really gotten anywhere since the late 90's/early 00's. sure, you've got more polygons in the models, and the materials look better, but the progress from 00-09 has been virtually nonexisting compared to 70-79, or 80-89.
