As much as I love Sasha and the other prog Djs, their sound has become so boring over the past few years that I'm not surprised to see them drop.

I suspect electro house Djs will slowly replace progressive ones because electro actually has energy.

Your theory somewhat falls on its face when you consider Nick Warren's rebound. None of the DJs you mentioned are playing strictly progressive. Electrohouse has zero scope beyond a dancefloor tightly packed with sweaty underage clubbers.

I laughed when you said electro house has zero scope beyond a tightly packed dancefloor. I doubt you meant it as a compliment to the genre but you basically made my point for me.

Electo house packs dancefloors. It has chart success, plus crossover appeal for radio and TV.

The energy in progressive house has declined to such an extent that it holds virtually no dancefloor appeal. That's why Global Underground is now putting out electro house releases.

Progressive's appeal is mainly to older clubbers, many of whom don't go out anymore. In many respects, it's become more of a listeners genre.

If the progressive Djs are smart, they will play other genres. They might even see a packed dancefloor again if they play some electro house, lol.

It doesn't have crossover appeal when the *only* place you can get away with playing it is on a dancefloor, considering how bad it mostly is.

You are foolishly and myopically framing "prog DJs" into some easily labeled group, which is already a mistake on your part...Digweed has been churning out techno and tech house with regularity, Seaman has not been afraid to pump out techier sheeot and others still like Nick Warren are mixing more traditional prog with nudisco and tech house. That's only 3 examples but they don't need to return to circa 2007 to stay relevant like some of these fly-by-nighters in the top 100 are doing.
