Ha! Indeed.

Thanks for all the synth chat, Mikael.

The DSI Tetra actually has more control than the knobs on the hardware, has full on software GUI to control more parameters easily. Thinkin about getting one. 4 Voices is plenty for the sounds its made to make.

That does look cool and sounds nice, but I am mainly looking for an analog poly that can make good pads and chord sweeps, since the Phatty pretty well covers bass and leads. Four voices just seems inconvenient for a pad machine, I'd like at least six. I may consider the Tetra at a later point, though, because it does have a great sound from the demos I've heard.

I haven't used the computer editor yet but will give it a try this week. ...And programming from the knobs isn't that bad actually. I think it's a pretty good bang for the buck.

Yah Tetra and Mopho are more for fast attack, short-mid decay, and fast release sounds, bass sounds, stabs, groove support.
If you want pad machines, look at the older ROLAND stuff. ROLAND synths are the pad kingpins.

Indeed, that's what I'm doing.

I agree! The older Roland stuff sounds good and is relatively inexpensive (except for the Jupiter) An MKS 70 (jx 8p), MKS 80 (Jupiter 6/8) or even a Juno 60/106 would suffice nicely. Actually even an MKS 50 / Juno 2 has some decent pads. However if you get the MKS / jupiter or JX series make sure to save enough money for a programmer. Programming from the front panel is not fun, although the pad and string presets are actually pretty good on the JX and Jupiter. ...not sure if there's a software editor for any of these, maybe someone else here knows?

The hate in this thread is so lame, so many people turning into elitist wankers all of a sudden.

oh shit! dresden gonna get midevil on dis bitch
let his vinyl rip, scratch his needle dick
show him the production ropes but first let his erection explode
teach him a lesson in both, give him somethin to boast
about the next time he on da boards,
name droppin, but rockin a honda accord
mind focused on coppin a ford.
dresden fell off but mike still tries hoppin aboard
both left your careers, years back, when condom shoppin the store

No. You don't sound clever, you don't sound witty and your moral high horse is taking a shit all over the carpet. Pipe the fuck down.

I'm not putting any effort into sounding clever or witty. Moral high horse? What the fuck? I know I'm not the only person that finds it annoying that a sizable portion of his posts consist of "it's at the top of the billboard charts", "working with Nadia Ali and Dave Penner", and how they "don't care what people think because their tracks have generated enough response to take care of them well into their eighties." I apologize for wanting to read someones posts without having to sift through them constantly whoring themselves out.

That's why it's in my signature; it separates genuine content from promotion.

I'm also willing to bet, this guy doesn't make a lot of $oney. I know dresden doesn't rake in more then 40 g's a year (and that's a generous estimate) so I'm willing to guess this guy being dave's lacky makes around 10-15 g's. Set up for life yo, eating rice cakes and drinking puddles

Are you actually reading his posts for any reason other than it being a guy connected to Dave Dresden? Do you seriously give a fuck about the music in question? I somehow doubt it. From your first post, you've been straining as hard as possible to find something wrong with the guy's statements, which you'll then blow out of proportion for no good fucking reason.

He bragged (not self-whored, learn the difference) about his achievements in response to some needless personal shit about an event he has nothing to do with. What a prick, eh? He talked about who he worked with because someone asked him. Totally out of line, right? Oh, and he posted an interview. Big fucking deal. He is a signed artist with fans on this forum. I don't think it's completely unacceptable behaviour to post content his fans are probably interested in.

Despite your feeble protestations, you're obviously looking to start shit. And there is no need.

Really? I didn't realize you were Dave's accountant? And BTW no one ever said we were set for life, you misread my post, go back and read it again. Writing and producing music with DD and other known artists in which I get credited as a writer and producer hardly constitutes being a lacky BTW. And who cares how much money any of us make, this isn't about whether I make 5k or 500k a year. I make music because I love it. We have the greatest jobs ever, we get to make music and I would do it for free. Fortunately for me I don't have to do it for free, but I would. So relax, none of our actual "fans" care what you have to say anyway. And those that do join in with these useless negative posts are just player haters or have something personal against Dave, and that's my problem because...? I'm not going to attack you if I don't like the people you work with, that would be stupid. If you don't like Dave, take it up with Dave, he's a big boy and can fight his own battles. You can find him on Myspace and FB, but you're not going to find him here because of too many jackass's like you that like to ruin it for everyone else. And pretty soon I'm going to bail on this place too, which would be unfortunate because some of the people on here want to talk music, gear and other things related to what this board was intended for. Those are the people I'm here to talk to.

-Mikael

Not sure about that. I was never a big fan of the 303 even when it was first in vogue for acid house back in the late 80s and early 90s. I'm more into things like arps, moogs, and the Roland Jupiter 8. If we acquire anything over the next year it will be a Macbeth M5.
