HOLY CRAP! It's even more incredible in IMAX 3D (of course)!!!!!

Good jesus... WOW...

Already have plans to go see it this weekend in IMAX again when my friends from the South come up for Xmas...

They only saw it in regular 3D and are dying to see it proper with an IMAX 6 stories tall experience!

Cannot wait (again)!

Yeah I should really check it out in IMAX, too.

If you take out the 3D visuals (eg. watching it on a regular screen in 2D) this movie is a 7/10. Maybe even a 6.5/10. Seeing it in IMAX 3D puts it at like 9.5/10 though.

Saw it last night finally. I have to say the special effects were awesome and I was amazed with the 3-D technology. It was amazing looking at the screen and seeing so much depth and seeing the charactors popping out seperated from the background. The dialogue is pretty clunky though, Jake Sully is a pretty uninteresting charactor filled with cliche lines. Some of the Na'avi rituals were unintentionally funny.

I don't think I cared about the new world as much as I should have. As amazing as the effects are, I wasn't as taken by the new world. The movie seemed very familiar to Pocahontas, Last Samarai etc. and I was getting a bit bored. However around roughly the second half, I was surprised to find myself caring about the charactors, even Jake Sully. I did get pulled in by the emotions and even though I mostly knew how it was going to end it still managed to create suspense and put me in a state of disbelief at points. The action set pieces were pretty good.

Overall somehow you get pulled in by everything going on. I was surprised at a couple of unconventional scenes in the film as well but then not that impressed with the whole discovery process in the beginning. 4/5

I dunno. I liked it at least 9 out of 10 in 2D when saw it the first time.

Saw it today in regular 3D. Blown away by the detail put into the film. Going to have to see this in IMAX 3D!

Went and saw this last night in 3D. Awesome movie, the effects are fantastic!

The movie definitely has an underlying message like some critics have been complaining about, but that message is a very positive and accurate one so it didn't bother me personally.

Would considering seeing this again at a IMAX for sure!

We just bought 7 tickets for the 1030pm IMAX showing at the Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond.

lol this is becoming a "Avatar: Jem's movie watching" thread

Posted by LiveTime on Dec-27-2009 19:01:

saw the movie last night. was pretty damn impressed. the 3D wasn't overwhelming 3D like you see in most movies of the kind. The story line was largely given away in the trailers, so that was kind of out the window and for the most part quite predictable in most cases.

i think Cameron will get an Oscar or two for the originality and sheer beautiful surrounding that is Pandora.

Don't think i'd go see it again tho, 3hrs is painful to sit through.

For the next month? You mean not until Jan?

I know when we went there on the 27th for the 1030 pm show, we arrived over an hour and a quarter early - so 9 to 915ish.

I was at teh customer service desk at that time trying to get a ticket refunded bc my friends brother was sick and couldnt come.

Anyways, in front of me were ppl trying to buy tickets, and as of Sunday the 27th at 9pm, all the shows on Mon the 28th in IMAX were flat sold out already, as well as all the shows on Tues the 29th (today) except for the 1030pm showing.

Wouldnt surprise me if every IMAX showing there until after the new year is already sold out.

That sucks knox..

i noticed that the IMAX 3D shows usually sell out about 2 days in advance.. if anything just go online at www.cineplex.com and check to see what's available
