i took these btw if you want alternative suggestions.

they are great for anxiety (at least were to me) A big factor in preventing panic attacks is learning to tell yourself you are having one and not dying. You could also ask for relaxation techniques (breathing, counting backwards..and so on) that would equip you better.

NO JAY NO!

I JUST got myself off this shit. Coming down from it fucking killed me. And I feel a thousand times better being off then I did being on them.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-14-2010 21:29:

i'm not on them anymore, and they worked fine. Like i said before, anti depressants have different effects on different people.

you did gradualy reduce your dosage over a few weeks i hope?

Posted by Lews on Jan-14-2010 21:29:

Oh, and my sleeping pills are:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trazadone

Take them a few times a week.

yeah ive been told that by lots of people, and i dont doubt its true.. i guess its just one of them things that just happens unexpectedly.
for us.. we dont know what we are having yet.. we find out on february 10th, if its a girl [which id like] it will be Jorja Tuscany, and if its a boy, Jayden Kai

i wanted my child to have a resemblance to my name. for a boy, i dont realy like many boys names.. my real name is Jamie, which ive always hated, but ive always been known as Jay, which is a cool name [i think] i so i always wanted my son to have the name i always wanted

i had to ask, because a lot of people use these types of meds for a few weeks, decide to completely stop taking them like that, which results in ultimate brain fuck/chris benoit.

people are too stupid to realize that even if the meds don't work they need to be weaned off of them

I've been on 5 different things, each for around 6 months, and slowly went off all of them. I wouldn't ever get on any of them again, but each time I end up back in the hospital the ******s force me on them again.

Anti depressants are nasty.. don't take em in the first place. I know I sound like a total asshole but just deal with it... not exactly the happiest person either.

Posted by Lews on Jan-15-2010 01:15:

You need to work on your reading comprehension there.

Anti-depressents are terrible. If someone needs help they should look to Dianetics; since we all know mental disorders are caused by thetans.

jayden or jaden are among the most popular names of the last few years for sure.

I never realised half the COR is depressed and/or popping pills.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jan-15-2010 14:31:

Pills alone aren't as effective as combination therapy. Are you talking to a therapist or seeking counselling at all? Do you know what CBT is?

Well yeah, but at the same point there is a huge overprescription of things to people which imo makes things worse. Rather than dealing with the cause of issues, gps are happy to just hand out pills like sweets to people.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-15-2010 14:54:

This is why many countries have laws that limit how pharmaceutical companies market their products. The drawbacks are that they still find a way around it, or that they pay the fines and continue because the profits outweigh the consequences by a huge margin. Many times doctors have back end deals with these companies to prescribe certain drugs first over the competition, which is nothing short of unethical.

I only have to look at the huge fine Pfizer Canada received for the way it markets Viagra. It received a fine of a few million dollars, and promptly issued a statement saying that they would not contest it, pay the fines, continue their campaign and keep paying the subsequent fines. I think this shows quite clearly how profitable this industry is, and how it is sometimes at the expense of the end user.

I want to make clear that i was not advocating just popping pills and everything will be better in this thread, only stating that just because one type of medication does not work does not mean that one should give up trying another one.

The most important thing is to do a little research and have the proper dialogue with a doctor that you trust. They can't guess everything and all the negatives of certain medications should be said in full. It is this kind of discussion that helps to eventually lead to the right fit in terms of medication and other treatments that will fit your needs.

Pills are by no means the "magic cure", but they can be an integral part to the solution. You don't have to agree with a doctor if you think he is just handing out pills like candy without addressing all of the problems, and should never be afraid to ask for a second opinion if you feel this way. If you never speak up, chances are that they will never be able to fully understand everything that is going on.

expresso and wake an bake ftw!

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-15-2010 15:15:

I find people are too over-reliant on medication for almost anything. Headache - painkiller. Ill - paracetomol. Twisted ankle - ibuprofen. Struggle to sleep - sedatives. Feeling low - anti-depressents.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-15-2010 15:27:

You would be right in that assumption, and it has a lot to do with how advertising for all of these things creates a need for a lot of things that are not necessary. Consumerism is a 2 headed beast, and because of it people with real problems sometimes get over looked.
