To sum it up...wow! This was the 12th time I've seen Markus and this was without a doubt one of the hardest sets I've heard from him..DaveT was right..the 18+ crowd sure loves the energy. He played until 4:30 and encored with his Swedish house mafia-chakalaka mashup followed by perception.

I had to leave in the middle and comeback but fortunately the cover to get back in was only $10.

Also thanks to Ryan, kris, and Naomi for the VIP/behind dj wristband. :-)

This night blew the house down. Markus just pumped nonstop energy for 4 hours. It was unbelievable!

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

I stopped by briefly and heard maybe 2-3 tracks that Shultz dropped, I was upset because I had to go all of a sudden. I ran into a few people last night but I forgot who, sorry guys I'm really bad with names and this whole weekend has been a vodka/tekillya blur...but it's been a hell of a weekend! Sucks it's over today at 845pm

Hardest set i have ever heard, and i LOVED IT. I have never seen my wife dance so much, and she is a melodic trance lover, not this type of stuff. But you just can't help but worship his sets. We both had the best time in a long time at Ruby!!!!
We left at 4 cuz she couldn't walk anymore from over dancing..... YA BABAY!!!!

We will be at the next Markus event for sure! I have sadly only seen him four times out of the ten i wanted to see him.
Next time we are going to LA if he ever does Tour-de-Markus there again

i'm not fanatical about markus, so no bias here... markus has always been great in SF, and before last night, i was going to say that maybe he needs to come to SF just one less time a year. i don't like getting burned out by djs, and fewer appearances build the anticipation for their next show.

but wow, that was an awesome set and i'm glad i made it out! dave t, sorry for all the reviews you're going to see rub it in. this was the show not to miss. best since his GDJB set @ mighty a couple years ago. definitely the hardest i've heard him play... sounded like the sound system was hitting harder than usual. crowd and energy just kept on going. saw a lot of us jaded regulars dancing or jumping around way more than usual. plus, ruby's lighting was on fire because their good lighting guy was working for once (he's barely been around the last six months). i almost forgot how capable ruby's lighting could be in the right hands.

i wish markus had recorded it, but i didn't see anything hooked up.

one thing i noticed last night that A LOT of people were giving him stuff to sign during his set..i mean A LOT...he signed all of them but you could tell he was getting irritated towards the end.

Amazing amazing amazing!!! To echo what others are saying this was the hardest set I've heard him play at Ruby and I loved every minute of it. A buddy of mine flew in from Florida for this and we stayed until the very end and even got pictures taken with Markus. What a nice down to earth guy. So great to see him end his set and jump down into the crowd to shake hands and joke with his fans.

This was the 16th time I have seen him and it just gets better every time.

Blake was great as usual. I nearly lost my shit when he played Phazing. My friend and I absolutely love that song. Thanks again, Blake!

I also got to try out my new camera. I haven't downloaded the photos and video from it yet but I will post anything worthy here when I do.

great show!!! really good job by Markus, lots of surprises! playing til 4:30 was nuts!!! great to meet him too afterwards. He said he was crazy "gone" lol
soo much fan interaction on a level i have never seen! but yeah i could tell the people asking to sign literally everything was getting waay rediculous,...
next time i hope i see a Markus set it will be Markus only though cause imo Blake Jarrell took the bpm's too high warming up, but nevermind that, it was still legit like none other!!!

thanks to Markus & others for such a night to remember,

I was reasonably near the front for the last two hours or so, and here are the particularly memorable objects I saw handed to Markus:
-Flyers
-Album CDs
When they didn't have any left of the usual stuff, some people started handing him:
-$20 bills
-$1 bills
-I swear to God, someone handed him a passport
-A wide-brimmed white hat
-A T-shirt (this made him roll his eyes, I could barely contain my laughter)
-The back of a white iPhone case
-The front of a phone! WTF

I'm surprised I didn't see anyone hand him their underwear.

I made Armin sign my shoe back in the day.... I only wear converse and have MANY pairs, Its hard to explain but it meant a lot... But He had to be like "REALLY wtf....."

1.) bart claessen - hartseer

2.).... thinking.... THINKING!!!!!!

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Jul-06-2010 15:47:

i don't dig trance too much anymore, but Markus definitely changed my opinion on it. didn't care for the fluffy stuff but he rocked it most of the night with dark heavy shit

128BPM too high? Markus doesn't play slower than 130BPM.

I remember when Markus would peak in the low 130s!

Well, I officially love my camera! Thanks again everybody who helped steer me towards purchasing it. The audio & bass is fantastic by compact camera standards, I'd say, all for ~$200 and no external mic.

The only thing I think I'm going to try tweaking settings for is lighting -- Ruby Skye is dark, yes, but once the videos post on Youtube, they're actually a bit darker than the raw .MOV files from the camera. For example, you can't see the lyrics in the "Away" video on the screen behind Markus on Youtube, but you can in the file I uploaded.

Be sure to change them to 720 HD!

And a little love for Blake Jarrell, Dyloot and Beaver!

First video
Song 1: Blake Jarrell - Punta Del Este (Arnej's Minimal Drum Dub)
Song 2: Big World - Quadrillion (Moguai Remix)

Thanks for the ID, Blake! Fantastic set as usual!

This one's cute. It gets great around 1:50 Anyone have the ID?

Must have missed it but what camera did you get?

Panasonic Lumix ZR3. I'm really, really impressed so far. Audio quality & bass retention (and compact size) were the main requirements and it has definitely surpassed expectations!
