OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk unite for Loveparade charity theme

July 24th 2010 is a date the dance scene will never forget. At the Loveparade, celebrated in Duisburg, Germany, more than 500 people were injured and 21 people were killed after panic broke out due to overcrowding in the tunnel entrance of the festival terrain. The Loveparade attracted more visitors than it could handle, resulting in mass hysteria and the death of 21 young dance lovers. Organizer of the Loveparade, Rainer Schaller, declared that this has been the final edition of the legendary event that - on average - attracted a million dance-lovers to its yearly editions and had its first edition in 1989 in the city of Berlin. The dance scene, along with its DJs, has been in shock ever since and to help remember the spirit of the famed dance event, three world-famous DJs have now united to create awareness and support the victims family-members and persons injured.

Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk have all played on several editions of the Loveparade, some of them even in the early years, when the Loveparade was still held in its original concept, in Berlin. They joined forces to produce a track, Remember Love.

The initiator of the track was Paul Oakenfold

I think the Loveparade represents a big part of the essence of the dance movement, he explains. Its a gathering for people from all over the world to come together to share their love for electronic music. I was watching television and a newsflash came up about the Loveparade. I really felt for the people who were there. I just thought we should do something to help them. In many other music genres, artists come together, like Live Aid and after the Hati-disaster. We should do something.

So I wrote this song and contacted Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. I asked them if they were interested, cause I thought it was a good idea to have England, Holland and Germany coming together. Us coming together to do a track and all the money goes to help people. I think this is the first time this has ever been done in the dance scene to give back, to help people.

Both Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren responded positively. Armin van Buuren, who played in front of over 1 million party people at the 2008 edition of the Loveparade, confirms:

For the first time, an Englishman, a German and a Dutchman teamed up and became united in the studio, creating a track that I hope people will love and treasure".

"Our purpose was united in the sense that we wanted to pay homage to those whose lives were lost and to have their memories live on in the spirit of our record.

Paul van Dyk, who has been part of the Loveparade ever since the first years, when it was still a political demonstration for peace and international understanding through music, was devastated when he heard about the Duisburg tragedy:

In its last years outside Berlin, the vibe of the Loveparade was a far cry from its original spirit.

With Remember Love, we want to recapture the essence of the Loveparade and try to assist those who suffered by donating all proceeds to charity. It was a great honor to work with Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold on this very important project. Please help us help others.

Remember Love will be available under the collaborative name of DJ United from September, 11th on, exclusively on Beatport for 2 weeks.

The collaboration is, according to Oakenfold, a true mix of the sounds of the three DJs/producers. Oakenfold: Remember Love has the melodic feel which represents my sound, the emotion and movement which I love of Armins sound and the energy and uplifting touch that no one does better than Paul van Dyk. I think itll be interesting for people to hear how three artists come together making one song.

Andreas Meiwes, Chairman of the Association of Non-statutory Welfare in North Rhine-Westphalia: "The victims of the Loveparade disaster should not be carelessly dismissed from our minds and memories. Dedicating a charity single to them is an idea that we highly appreciate and that deserves all acknowledgement and support. I'm delighted that three stars of the International Dance scene are joining forces to take a stand for the victims. The proceeds will be of considerable help in giving financial aid to the victims, their families and those in need of medical or psychological support."

Bank details for international donations:

All proceeds will be donated to the Association of Non-statutory Welfare in North Rhine-Westphalia Germany (LAG), which started an appeal to support the victims' family members and persons injured. An account was opened for donations: Caritas Bistum Essen, bank account number 14 400, bank code 360 602 95 (Bank im Bistum Essen), BIC GENODED1BBE, IBAN DE75 3606 0295 0000 0144 00, keyword 'Loveparade'.

Paul Oakenfold is nobody, his label hadn't released any tracks at all for the last 2 years. So he decided to remind people about him. I remember charity to Asia (tsunamy) or in Central America (Too much rain over paradise) and all money went to people who was affected by tsunamy or flood. But to gather money, they had to produce good track, to people buy maxi CDs or vinyls. If track is a peace of shit, then nobody will buy it and there is no sense at all to make it,or it can be found like promotions on others death.

I know you understand and speak spanish:

Si yo me exprese con educacion, tu respuesta debio haber sido igual, tu risa denota falta de educacion, por un lado, y burla sarcastica por el otro, cosa que nunca he hecho hacia ti, siempre el respeto por delante, al menos el otro forista lo hace con argumentos, tu con sorna (burlas)

quedas muy mal parado conmigo...

Do you think, they made that track because they are so sorry about love parade tragedy??? In real it's just a promotion. When Michael Jackson died, then some people started to speculate on his death and earn money by selling different stuff related to him. They even happy about it, because if he wouldn't die, people hadn't bought all those goods. So my opinion is not so optimistic, as your, and it's not a matter of materialistic or mental. Someone's death can be opportunity to others.

at least you have your personal opinion, and I respect that, but others just laugh about personal opinions, and this is not acceptable to me...

that's it... (what?)

about your comparison, it's not work to me, you and me know all about MJ tragedy (family affairs, media, etc)

This is totally different, this is about casualties due to improvisation (security) from that show management, in fact that man is charged for that....

I am not an optimistic one, I simply believe in charity acts..

Paul Oakenfold does not need that money as you think, he is retiring this year..

Paul van Dyk and AvB needs that money?, please...!

Of course all this is not for free completely, there's some costs involved, and people must be sure about it, but the DJ's themselves needs the money (?)....please....

cheers buddy...

You think they don't need money??? So why do their booking cost a few tens thousands euros??? People, who don't need money do it for charity or just to cover their spends on flight e.t.c. They have strong requirements for booking including expensive car, luxury appartments, Don Perignon shampagne and some other stuff. From seeing it i wouldn't say they don't need money or don't want rich life. Or you think Bill Gates or Warren Baffet don't need money? EVERYBODY needs money. You just can't see it so pointedly like huge companies spend money on charity, care about nature, animals, they rise their social opinion which leads to increase their profit.

But we told about quality of that track, not the reason to wrote it.

Anyway you made me happy that Oakenfold retire from DJing. Hate him so much, such a lame DJ and costs 20 000 pounds per booking I wouldn't pay even a thousand, much better to book some average trance DJ that that grandpa.
