Cowboys and aliens blew chunks!! It was pretty lame, jokes were sad...I thought it was going to be more serious and not as corny/cheesy.

Friends with benefits was OK at best. They tried too hard and ended up making it overly clich� and I was especially disappointed with Mila Kunis' performance...she was a lot hotter in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Black Swan. JT is a fucking deuche bag.

X-Men first class was super duper good.

I preferred her roles in previous movies better. She was 'too good to be true' in most cases in this movie lol.

CvsA was okay. It started out really good though. I liked how Daniel Craig barely even spoke and his facial expressions did the acting for him. Paul Dano was really good as well. But Olivia Wilde is nothing more than eye candy and I really didn't care about her at all, Harrison Ford hams it up way too much. His acting is mediocre. The whole story becomes sorta bland near the end, I just stopped caring when they start really dealing with the Aliens.

If anyone hasn't seen it yet, then watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Easily the best movie of the summer this far, I was surprised as to how much I got into it. It helps that they show the humans as one dimensional scumbags for the most part so that you easily root for the apes.

While I'm sure this movie might have been done well, I wonder how far they strayed from the original movies. Technically the main chimps' parents (Cornelius and Zira), were from the future (Escape from the Planet of the Apes circa 1971) which led to the movie Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The timeline is pretty messed up but that's how it went.

random movies we watched recently:

Barney's Version - loved it, such a beautiful movie, even brought a tear to my eye
Limitless - I def liked that idea of it, but I felt that they could've done more with the movie
Captain America - solid 10/10 for me
500 days of Summer - interesting and sweet movie with a bittersweet ending

This seems interesting.

In other news... they are making another Taken movie.

^ Yeah, Drive looks good. I was planning on seeing it as soon as I heard Bryan Cranston was in it, but after seeing the trailer, I'm even more psyched.

Taken made lots of money, so they started planning on a sequel pretty soon after the numbers started coming in. Absolute piece of shit film though.

WHAT? Taken was a WICKED film, no crazy special effects or huge explosions, just pure believable action! Love that they are making another one!

I agree. Very predictable. I felt it could have been better. I do like it in a guilty pleasure kind of way though.

I just felt it was "edgy lite". It was a way to sell a dark theme to lots of people. I'm no elitist, and I know movies are a business, but in the end I thought it was really fake and hacked together. Just my opinion.


Oh, when he finally caught her kidnapper at the end and they kept playing back his voice through the phone, it was like ok, we get it, no need to draw the connection with a neon highlighter thanks. That really exemplified what the whole movie was to me.

I just saw the trailer for the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and while I was skeptical at first, it actually looked really good. I'm psyched.

With all these remakes of absolutely everything, and lack of original source material, I'm surprised nobody has thought to redo Swamp Thing. Basing it off Alan Moore's run would be pretty sweet, imo.

same! I absolutely loved the Swedish movies (Jennie, I think you'll enjoy them too, btw)
and just finished the 3rd book
but the musical score blew me off my seat, sooooo good! and dark! just like it should be And i'm kinda of liking Craig as Bloomkvist - the original actor was not that appealing to me (and he is supposed to be this sexually appealing older fellow too!)

Watched Sleepers the other night, had seen it long time. Such a good movie!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but The Mechanic which is out
on DVD right now was a pretty good entertaining movie.

I also enjoyed Limitless, I wouldn't say OMG amazing but I definitely thought it was good.

I just got back from seeing "Drive"

The cinematography was superb and the score that was done for the movie was amazing. All I can say is, this movie is not for everyone.

agree with you on the cinematography and music. both of these aspects of the film were done in the same vein of Heat but not exactly ripping it off. I love Cliff Martinez's music work and this soundtrack was as electronic as ever. I especially liked the ambient stuff he had in it.
