and gimme a break with that "ask for the master stylist" shit rofl.

"hi i need a hair cut"
-"alright sandra, cut this gentleman's hair please"
"i'd like to request the master stylist"
-"alright sandra, charge this gentleman 40 bucks extra please"

my pet hate is the pointless small talk you have with whomever is cutting your hair.

I know, every time I go in, the guy keeps blabbering something about length, tops, sides, etc. I dunno, I usually just tune him out.

Pie, we've seen pictures...

Same issue here. Some people actually say I look like a rapist from prison which I guess, has conditioned me to believe every haircut I get is shitty the first few days. Oh, and the way the skull structure accentuates the shape of the hairs.

Meh, size 4 allover everytime ftw!

/end bitching

A lot of people have. My pictures were in a few international hair magazines. Full page spreads.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Mar-13-2011 14:29:

Well it's NO WONDER you're being such a persnickety perch about the whole thing!

Better, I suppose, than an ambivalent albacore.

I think I saw it, she was in Hair Hype.

was it Hair to Stay (NSFW) magazine?

Posted by mr.bison on Mar-13-2011 14:52:

Just bring a picture of the haircut you want, so you can avoid having to explain it and risk having a bad haircut.

Posted by idoru on Mar-13-2011 15:19:

I pay $40 with tip every two months or so. That pays for the haircut, a full shave, and...

... that with a piping hot towel wrapped around my face. Fuuuuuuuuuucck.

The usual lady that I go to knows that I don't like the small talk bullshit (plus I cannot fucking stand her voice), so she does a great job and she does it fast, fifteen minutes tops. Totally worth the money.

Posted by Meat187 on Mar-13-2011 15:38:

I also go to a master stylist. A stone Reiki master.

It's a hair thread, what does one expect? Pretty sure I have enough experience with the subject to provide good feedback. I was never suggesting anyone should pay an arm and a leg for hair cut. But it's silly to complain about bad hair if one is unwilling to try something new, or thinks that 40 bucks every 6-8 weeks is too expensive.

#5 on top
#2 on sides and back.

done.

You aren't admiring the rhythm of their jugular? I'm pretty docile. Mmm

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-15-2011 23:55:

So it's been four days, and while this definitely wasn't the haircut I had envisaged, I'm no longer aghast at the sight of my own head. Even though it can't be more than a couple of mms longer it's starting to lie properly rather than that weird just-cut fluffy spikiness.

Posted by Lews on Mar-16-2011 00:08:

Yeah, I'd say four days is pretty much the time span for me to go from hating it to thinking it's not bad/acceptable.

$35-40 (including tip) every 6-10 weeks.

Jake, where did you get your hair cut when you were in Seattle? Full shave and the towel treatment sounds good. Instead I just get the small talk I can't stand

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Mar-16-2011 00:24:

The shave is the best part of getting a cut at a proper barber. There is nothing in the world more relaxing.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-16-2011 00:25:

Isn't it something of a frivolity, though? You shave every day, why pay to have it done by someone else? We're not living in the Old West anymore.

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Mar-16-2011 00:28:

I don't shave every day. Every 2. It has nothing to do with not being able to do it myself, but once every few weeks with a cut it is awesome. When you get it done properly, a hot towel, close shave and facial massage is a nice way of thanking my face for having 2 eyebrowns instead of one. I am Italian you know.

Once again a minor expense for a nice little bit of pampering.

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Mar-16-2011 00:30:

What will piss you off though is that i go do manis and pedis as well.

I haven't paid for a haircut in the last 10+ years
I got the chop last week and its way too short, here comes of the long wait for it to grow back to a satisfactory length.
