I had a decent time in High School. I moved to a whole new area after 8th grade, so I had to make friends from scratch. Actually didn't do too bad. Ended up befriending and knowing a lot of people from a bunch of different cliques, but I never partied with the cool kids so I never quite earned cool kid status.
I think one of my most memorable times was during Senior year when I acted in this play. I ended up mooning the whole audience while playing it off as if it was an accident (It wasn't), said a bunch of lines, then cartwheeled off the stage. It was a Shakespeare play no less, and luckily I didn't end up getting suspended or anything like that.
I also remember wasting my time taking those stupid Golden State Exam tests. It was something Gov Gray Davis had proposed, that if you passed 6 of them you'd become a GSE Scholar and would readily be accepted by any UC in the state. Well, turns out the UC's rejected it, and all the good it did me was earn a little gold sticker on my diploma. And then 3 years later Davis got recalled and replaced by an Austrian celebrity, and that was the end of that.
I was a total slut.
Vivid highschool

Nou highschool

Actually I had long platinum blonde curls in HS.
They called me fluffles cause it was so fluffy! In 9th grade it grew down to my shoulders! Damn that was bad ass.
back in those days. i had tons of things going on with my hair.
every few months had a new do

miss that hair....ooo i miss it
I was an anime/video game geek covered in acne. I worked at a go cart track/arcade just because they had Dance Dance Revolution and I got to play for free on my days off. I also drove around blasting trance CDs with the windows down which wasn't exactly cool back then (1998-2002 were my high school days).
The best part was the exchange student trip I took to Japan. This isn't to say high school wasn't fun, it was and I had great friends who are still my best friends today. I knew a lot of people, because my graduating class was actually pretty geek-friendly (surprising for suburban Atlanta. Even the jocks played video games and talked to "regular" kids). It's not really something I'd like to go BACK to, though.
I didn't start drinking until I was 19-20, so the most "rebellious" thing I did in high school was drag race friends in this warehouse area near where I lived. I had a 98 Tacoma V6 pickup, and because of the torque I would stomp every tricked-out Civic I went up against since we didn't have a full 1/4-mile to use. :P
tl;dr: It was fun and all, but life since then has been a HELL of a lot better.
Life is neither better nor worse, it's different. I don't really see a point to framing how good life is in that way. Two totally different stages of growth and development.
but the pussy has always stayed at the saaaaaaaaame stage

Anyone ever go back and visit their teachers?

High school was the most awesomest stress-free time of my life. I did whatever the hell i wanted because I got the best grades without trying (although trying wouldn't have helped), and I wasn't obligated to have a job by my parents. I was notorious for not taking notes EVER (and not even bringing a backpack to school) yet correcting the teachers multiple times.
I mean, to me, it only made sense that i wrote down in my notes what i didn't know -- not all the damn stuff all over the board. Most of the stuff was on handouts anyway, so why the hell would I just re-write it onto a piece of paper I would never look at again: it's already either in my mind or on a nicer, typed piece of paper... That was especially true since most teachers gave review sheets before exams, so we really never had to do stuff till a few days before.
Homework? Many friends = bunch of copying, like crazy. Tests? Had the review sheet right out in front of me, underneath the test (cheating, I know). Most of the time I didn't even look at it though. Presentations? I was a really cool chill guy, no nervousness and very confident (not the case anymore).
And then there was Varsity baskteball for 4 years. That was THE SHIT!
Now college is all like, shit, so many damn notes to take because all the information is completely new and explanations are unclear. I have like zero friends here, so there's no copying, and I don't talk to many people, so I'm not confident, and everything is down hill. I absolutely hate it. Plus it's a 45min commute (unlike the 5min walk to high school) and my parents are forcing me to have a job, which is 20min from my colllege. There's no time for anything! Working 32hrs a week during finals week was BY FAR the absolute low point of my entire life. Those two weeks were terrible.
Please tell me, does it get better in college???
Not if you're so used to skating through life with minimum effort.

What a mindless and physically unexceptional undertaking.

i was all over the place in HS
i was definitely a nerd, state level quiz team and mathlete shit, i was the kid who everyone hated for ruining the curve on tests
i was an athlete - a runner, and i had the school record in the hurdles
i was a band nerd - first chair alto saxophone all 4 years, i was in concert band, marching band, and other regional ensembles
i was an art fag - i took multiple art classes every year, in all the art shows, etc
and i was also on homecoming court
'most likely to be famous'
so i had friends from all over the place, in many different groups. i was kind of a floater. high school was a lot of fun. i did all my homework in class during lecture and spent my evenings with friends causing mayhem.
i would *LOVE* to crash my HS reunion after my transition
too bad that would mean going back to ohio for an appreciable length of time
