Whether it should matter or not, I think a lot of people (and I can't say I blame them for thinking this) believe that this event just won Obama the 2012 election. Remember that Hussein was captured in December of 2003, and look who won again in 2004

Props to Obama for pulling the trigger on this. But we are 18 months from the election. That's a lifetime, and our economy still blows. The euphoria will calm down in a couple months. Yeah Bush won in 2004 after Saddam was nabbed, but that was more because John Kerry was the best the Democrats could come up with. 18 months prior to 2008, it was a foregone conclusion that Hillary was the next president.
