I'm addicted to Blue Lo-Carb Monsters.

help me

Posted by WittyHandle on Mar-14-2013 04:18:

I used to be hooked on those too. I'm courting sugar free Red Bull for a while right now tho.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-14-2013 04:23:

Sometimes I'll chug a green Monster an hour before I hit the gym to get AMPED. And then the entire rest of the day/night I'm irritable as fuck. Lol.

Posted by wotyzoid on Mar-14-2013 05:14:

You mean sometimes you're not irritable?

Posted by billymadision on Mar-14-2013 07:27:

Red bull is fantastic, just not every year.

Jenny, I like you and think you add shit to the forum and that lovely jazz, but you must realize that you do come across as 'holier-than-thou' in about 70% of your posts here. I'm sure its unintentional, but that doesn't mean it's not true.

I go back and forth on the old caffeine wagon, myself. Last term, I was having about 10-15 shots of espresso a day At the end, I thought my heart was going to explode, and went cold turkey for a while. Felt like shit for a week and thought my brain was going to explode the first time I had an energy drink (a month later), but otherwise no big problems.

I enjoy having a good cup of coffee after dinner or at a coffee house while getting work done, but I prefer my caffeine intake to not be an addiction, and be more of a special bonus or something to help me over a hump when necessary. So since it's currently finals time, I've had two redbulls in the last three days. On the average week, though, I probably have 2 cups of coffee and that's it, unless I have an important paper/exams.

Bloody hell! And I thought I was hardcore for drinking 6 cups of café au lait in a single day

Sure thing. Let me put it another way, then. Whatever you like to think you're doing when you make posts like this:

Or, you know, eat right and all that all other shit. If you're doing all the right things to begin with you shouldn't need to depend on a caffeine pick me up at any point during the day.

Please stop, okay? It's fucking annoying.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-14-2013 13:18:

No I will not. That is a statement of fact, and is a relevant response to a discussion about the "need" for caffeine. Sorry you can't tolerate it.

Posted by Vector A on Mar-14-2013 13:22:

Maybe it's because I never started depending on caffeine in the first place, but I have never felt like I needed it, even when I was getting up at 3 AM to work. Or maybe I've actually been operating suboptimally this whole time, and if I started drinking caffeine I'd turn into a superhuman.

No it isn't, you fucking berk. I've already clearly identified why I'm tired, and the only reason you're running your mouth repeating the redundant and blindingly obvious is so you can bask in a preening self-congratulatory glow.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-14-2013 13:29:

Yeah, you said you don't get enough sleep. You sound very irritable today muffin, perhaps you need a coffee?

gat damn!

I don't know that I could do that if I tried.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-14-2013 13:32:

Does espresso really do much? Perhaps it's because I don't regularly drink coffee, but every time I've ever had espresso it never did much for me. Mind you, it was always after a large meal and lots of alcohol.

Posted by idoru on Mar-14-2013 13:39:

I put a bit of espresso in my chai tea every morning, it does the trick.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-14-2013 13:44:

Espresso with chai huh? How does it taste?

Depends on how much you put in it. I steam up soy milk and put it in along with a small shot of espresso, so there's barely any coffee taste yet just enough to perk me up. Put in too much and it tastes like shit.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-14-2013 13:54:

Yeah I could see the bitter overpowering the spicy. Interesting though. Chai tea is my favorite.
