Looking at those tracklists to call ASOT "A State of Trance" is so false. It really annoys me Armada music are trying to pass this off as a trance event. It is commercial EDM end of story. None of this "dont be a prisoner of your own style" shit.

And to be honest with the line up that is left to come I dont see it getting much better apart from some of Schulz and Armin. Ferry and PVD dont play trance anymore. So why are these artists playing what is supposid to be a trance stage? But like I say my definition of what trance is and what Armada music think are entirely different.

As valid as a lot of these points are, the problem is that with the likes of huge multi-stage events like the Ultra Music Festival, Armin / Armada / ALDA don't actually have a say in who gets booked.

What usually happens is Ultra will book all the people they want, and whatever they assign as "trance" becomes the ASOT stage for the event. That's why you only get the likes of ATB appearing at these shows (Ultra, ASOT stage at EDC New York etc.) rather than the other shows on the 600 tour. Although it sometimes has its advantages like getting PvD on the bill today.

I think in analysing everything that has happened on the tour so far is that the laziness of many of the DJs has been exposed. By all means, you can expect people to play their signature tracks, but when you show up with 90% of your set the same tracks in the same order, it's made to look so much worse on radio (and further downloadable) broadcasts.

100% agree with U

Maybe you are correct Impact ,about the bookings and stuff ,seems legit to me as well , but I think gizzy's point is especially with Armin and Armada for booking these DJs to play on the ASOT 600 celebration; not this day only , every single event up to now and the upcoming ones , even Den Bosch .
And therefore the definition of the music these guys play nowadays is not trance . I mean , I may like many of the sets I have listened to ,from ASOT 600 but the vast majority cannot be described as trance no matter what . But I guess this is another long long subject that has been discussed many times over and over now , right

so you're trying to tell us that Armada gets an ASOT scene but can't invite Dj's, only can do what UMF will say, that's strange to me, if it's true i'm shocked!

And yes all this events aren't even half trance orientated (where are the old times?!).

thats the idea, i believe as well,,, to a degree ^^

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Was the same with Beyond Wonderland last year. This is why the ASOT Miami shows are among the last to reveal their lineups.

For example, when the whole DB debacle happened a few months ago and was resolved, Armin announced he had been booked to play 6 ASOT 600 shows. This didn't include Ultra, but because he was booked by Ultra, he's playing 7 in total.

Even if there was no ASOT involvement, there would still be a trance stage at Ultra. It's just a nice marriage that comes together and helps each other in the end. And nice for us that we get to hear it as a worldwide broadcast.
