giant meh imo. if martinez bros weren't there i would have pretty much fell asleep. well shwarz was pretty good imo but my friends were biased towards him. it was really crowded at the front today too. enjoyable but music wise nothing to write home about. regret missing danny's marathon now

Posted by planetaryplayer on Jul-02-2014 05:39:

troxler mjc and my fav robot for the next one ?

Posted by dinosaurbingo on Jul-02-2014 06:03:

good times i guess, but does not top sasha or guy gerber last year.

i kept hearing "wheres the drop" from a lot of people in the crowd... this isn't avicii ffs

the crowd has changed so much from last year lol

sound was better this time

need more techno acts

I really hate to acknowledge it publicly, but Henrik's set was way too similar in track selection and programming to that old Boiler Room mix. Def surprised by that. Dah well. Great day at the rave as always.

I was thinking the same thing. All parties last year were way better than this one.

I think this was probably the most orgaznized btw. Extra portos, tvs, food trucks etc.

I just couldn't get into it. Dixon finally picked it up at 950pm but I didn't really care by then. I had fun, but I think I could have skipped it.

Side note: I did not like Gourmet Bitches' fries.

Great day, finally just got home, gonna die for a bit now.

Afterparty was some of the strangest, creepy and awesome music I've ever heard!

How does one lose a pair of shoes at the island, that they were wearing?!

Great seeing so many familiar and friendly faces with great weather!

But not quite sunny enough to warrant a weird sun screen rub down. Lol. :/

Dixon was magical... The whole party was awesome!

Posted by Special K on Jul-02-2014 23:01:

Thumbs up

Tunes were good all day IMO. Would have preferred longer / extended sets from the headliners (Dixon) but besides that I can't find any faults with the party.

Another quality Electric Island event.

Could just be my preference but Dixon and Tennis put me to sleep - I just don't get the hype around them. Thought the same thing at BPM and Coda.

I thought the Canada Days addition was awesome. Really fun, the atmosphere felt different... my friend decribed it like being at a theme park, minus the rides... It wasnt as busy as last month... there was porta pottys by the entrance... the ping pong table was nice touch... as well as the tv's for the world cup game...
the music was on point... highly enjoyed it... I lost the plot when Damian Lazrus ft Ancient Moons - Lovers Eyes was dropped!
The only problem was paying $50 at the door... but thats my bad from not buying them early...
Really excited for Seth Troxler, MJC, and Bob Moses, hopefully we get another name added on!

Posted by dinosaurbingo on Jul-03-2014 16:51:

Hopefully not... another added dj would just shorten troxler or mjc set.

Henrik Schwarz set was amazing but I knew that before going

Some repeats in his set but it felt like I never heard those songs before, I love the quality in his music.

Sven vath set the bar too high with his set, i need more techno madness. Also knowing I missed tenaglia's marathon kinda disappointed me too. Had a good time no doubt but there was no memorable set for me

Like I said before, loved the island, great vibes all around I thought. I think everyone is getting so picky with expecting everything to be perfect at their optimum taste. Sound, people, weather. I had some run ins with some unsavoury people, wished it was a bit louder at times etc. I can only imagine the logistical nightmare of moving a club essentially to an island on a holiday, and presumably lots of red tape, and I think everyone involved deserves a much deserved pat on the back for what they did. This was my 3rd island, 1st this year. Each time I feel they're doing better and better overall.

Tales of Us were my favourite so far from last year, but like mentioned above, overall vibe and organization was astounding how well done it was and seems to be improving party to party.

I think Tennis could have easily been the headliner, he was on point, especially at the afterparty. First time for Henrik, was very enjoyable, I think MarBros are overrated, but they still threw it down, Dixon was good, but I had the bar set much higher from my Detroit experience from him at the festival and Old Miami only a month or so ago.

I don't think sound is the promoter's fault, I highly doubt with the calibre of bookings and parties they do, that they would voluntarily hold back on that if they didn't have to for some reason.

One other thing, were there like 3 different groups of security? I saw the grey shirts managing the doors and bathrooms, then a few red shirts who seemed to rule over them all, then a few blue shirts who were in a small trio seemingly randomly asking people to empty their pockets?

Finally, shot out to Alex for his continued hard work and hospitality this weekend.

AND lastly, was I wrong in assuming Maceo was supposed to be Civic? Or did I get the wrong information from many people about the same thing? *fingers-crossed* for Labour Day!

I heard it from some people, then Maceo and his manager at Old Miami when I was chatting with them, but they were not sure which one. Who knows, but I was def excited.

Afterparty was pretty clutch, didn't get there till about 1:30, Tennis and Jonny White going B2B, some great music, and I'm not even a huge AD fan! You just knew when Tennis was on, some crazy tracks. There was one German vocal track that looped over and over and he kept pushing it and pushing it till eventually kicked it back in and the place went off! Only complaint about the party was the girl at the back bar, who took 20 mins to try to serve people at last call, then at 2am, pretty much told everyone to fuck off, go cry some where else and then proceeded to break down and cry behind the bar for another 10 mins while people waited to get water. I've had nothing but amazingly friendly service from Coda bartenders, this was shocking to me. And I was pissed because we just got there, went straight to the bar, waited 20mins, and still didn't get a drink.

Sort of, but like you said these parties just keep improving each time. It's really professional the way these guys listen to and act on our feedback. I think from an organization stand point, this one was perfect. I personally can't think of anything to find fault with, other than personal experience of the music.

Yeah, whatever is in their control. Weather, can't be helped (great weather). But I read some things about he people who were there, snobby, aggressive or just there for the party and not the music. That's not the fault of the organizers. Sound is in the hands of the organizers, but I feel their hands are tied by restraints we don't know about. People's choice of music, well, that is what makes not only our music, but music in general so amazing. It's all in the ear of the beholder. Some days you're feeling this, other days you're feeling another. Some people listen to this music on the weekends, others are huge nerds like us who live and eat this music. Which is great that there is a variety of people booked, all a bit different. So many factors to your personal enjoyment of the music, friends (main one IMO), weather, sleep, attitude!

Yup friends 100%!
