stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow after PVD live @ Arc

Well having debated coming to NY for weeks I am glad that our group made the trip down... It was brutal getting up so early for the drive but it wasn't so bad because everyone was hyped about the weekend.
Got there at about 4pm and realized aggressive driving/cutting ppl off/dodging jaywalking pedestrians was the norm - always fun. With Redeye's help we managed to find free parking closeby so I wouldn't have to touch the car all weekend.
Next up we get some booze, red bull and then cab it down to Sbarro. Head downstairs and see a small group but it slowly grew as the night went on (although the pizza at that place was bleh)
We arrived at Roxy pretty early so it gave us a chance to see the whole venue while it was still pretty bright in there. The sound was spot-on for 90% of the night and I wouldn't change anything about layout except maybe the location of the laser.
Enter PVD with Taub 2002 as an opener and the crowd starts to come to life (by this time it was pretty packed)... Very early on in the set there were tons of people jumping, making noise, hands in the air, etc - the vibe was definately there. There have only been a handful of times I have experienced seeing so many people being vocal/dancing to the music/jumping around once the beat came in. It was refreshing. I hate crowds that are dead - standing around waiting for something to happen that rarely does. In comparison, it made some of the other parties I've been to this year look like the crowd was on life support.
It was nice to meet a whole new group of people from the site - especially when you've seen their pics around before. Props to John for putting an effort in to organize the meetup - You totally went nuts at one point in the night with those orange glowsticks, unreal.
The music... oh man.. I was LOVING it.. It was relentless - the beats just kept on coming and the variety was there. All weekend I kept wondering what the hell that track was (Emmanuel Top - Turkish Bazar) - I searched for this in mp3 like mad earlier this year but the name escaped me until I finally saw the tracklist late last night. The last time I saw him in Toronto (10.10.01) he was awesome, but it was a short set -- Friday night was more complete and since he played some harder stuff it totally made my night... The electro was ok but it would've been better if he slipped Connector - Interference in there somehow.
Shoutouts to Ian (Thanks for everything from the crew & I - we'll be back (with rev this time), Mizz (Tata Lovah), Richie (Pillar), Arturo the jumping giant, Taub, Devantes (da porkster), Scottt, Ruby'n Roxy Diva(s), Twilochik, ExcelonGt, Drizzt, s0t, Daphna, jdat,Shann0n, butterfly, the ToTAs (Itikia, Stereoprincess, Halo20, Durafei, et al...) AND everyone else I must have missed
"Come on ... Dance with me ... Move your body ..."
So good.
....We'll do it again soon.

Hey guys, it was fun meeting all you peeps even though I've forgotten a lot of names already. I came with Clem (Wushuboy) and haven't really posted here until just about right now
. Thanks to Scott for letting Clem and I stay at your parents. Learned a few tips from you regarding spinning techniques and gear. It was fun hanging out with you. Jdat - fun in your small little car driving from Boston huh?...even though I was asleep most of the time lol! Thanks Chris (porky) for the candy. I didn't really get to know many of you all too well...time flew by and I was having a blast. Anyways, I aim to post some more and hope to get to know all of you better!
Peace out.

SHOUTS OUT!
me & Starfox
I know that half of you guys had the luxury of going to ARC which i hear was alot better than Roxy... but anytime you have a shorter set, Paul cuts to the chase and tightens up his set (ask Rory/Alex -> Avalon=wow!)
I had such an awesome time on Friday night at the Roxy... much more so than soundfactory. The set was bangin. Even though there was that weird electroAvenue middle part, how can you complain when Paul plays 1.5 hours of his own tunes/remixes? But i must say, that this set was not as good as 10/10/01 Toronto! (go ask swamper)
Parties are never complete w/o the people you party with...so shoutsout 2 the following people!
First and Foremost, to my exgf NY1004: Thank you liz. What a way to start and end a relationship, both at a pvd show. thank you for taking care of me that night. thank you for the closure. i just hope that you will remain strong and not let those other fockers weaken you. your current bf? no girl deserves to be called that... be strong liz
Fox: my partner in crime -> MY FELLOW VANDIT BROTHERS!!!! STARFOX AND I HAVE A TREAT 4 U THIS WINTER!!! STAY TUNED!
gregor: Shranz! good that you're now back 'trance'formed! w00t!

It was nice putting a face your name too Devantes
If i get another chance to do something like this, and i think i will, ill make sure to talk to you more cause you seem like a nice person
Oh and your graphics for those album covers are SO cool.
one more track Paul dropped was 2HD "Sunflakes (Kid Vicious Remix)" o-m-g classic trance track from '99

Sorry for this review being so late. It was possibly the best night this year, as far as clubbing goes, so far. The dinner was an excellent idea( way to go John). Got to meet 4 very cool TA's from Canada( Halo20, Durafei, Stereoprincess, and Gamma), and hung with some of them for part of the night(Halo20, where did you go? I lost you, dude!)I had a big smile on my face most of the night, and it grew wider when I heard Taub2002, Tic Toc, and that mix of For An Angel vs. Silence! Some other songs that I cannot ID also pumped me up. I just wish I could have met more TA's( I did meet Starfox, NY1004, Swamper, finally). Thanks Melissa for including me in the photos. Can't wait to do this again!
Well... Im finally back on the West Coast and I must say i definately am glad to be back. So much warmer here :P Anyway.. I had a total blast going to the back to back PvD gigs. Roxy was such a great venue as was Avalon. It's really better than anything I've been to in LA. I knew PvD would play better on the East Coast and this trip was totally worth every penny. I finally got to hear him spin For an Angel again. I almost broke down. Im glad to have met some really cool people during my short stay on the East Coast. First, I'd like to thank Scott for everything. Dont know many ppl who would let complete strangers stay in their house and then take the time to show them around. Thanks man.. ur awesome. Fox.. finally!!! I get to meet you even tho I stayed at least 5 feet away from you from fear of getting stomped on ;P The rest of the back to back pvd crew, Rory, Alex, Caryn, Chris, Jdat... very cool to meet you guys. I'll never forget Avalon. You guys are some of the nicest ppl i've met. I didnt really get to meet many of you but those of you who i did meet Im glad i had a chance to. At least now i can put a face to a screen name. I'll just name everyone who i did meet.. Shannon, Binkun, Liz, Sot, Dave, Optimus, Melissa, Pyro. I wish i had more time to get to know you all.. maybe in the future when pvd throws another back to back event.. hehe. I'd just like to thank all the East Coast TA's that made my short stay in New York and Boston a memorable one. Guaranteed I'll be back to party with you guys some day. Thanks all
Clem

I did enjoy PVD for the little bit i was there but mizz had to go back around 3 am and he was really my ticket to not sleeping on the streets so i went back with him. I have to say it was nice seeing Fox, Opti, Redeye, Devantes, Drizzt, DJlord, Thomasdatt, s0t, ny1004 (thanks alot , you know what for), and Richie (dude you are the shit). But i must say if it werent for meeting all those people and especially for mizz being such an awesome friend for me that night we came back early from PVD, i think the trip woulda been a complete disaster. |
by any chance, did paul play Dj Jan vs Vandueren - Deep Emotion (Dj Ghost Remix)??? i'm going totally out on a limb, but i thought i heard this track, which is track 5 from Mayday 2002. maybe it was another remix or something that sounds like it.

| ... I was hoping Paul would drop some killer tracks I've never heard before and was disappointed he didn't. Except for one. One with man vocals in it in the beginning of the set. The track everyone was hoping someone would ID. Including Me! |
| quote: |
One major complaint: ...Roxy needs to get rid of the banister in front of the dj booth..people use it as almost seats to just sit there and watch PVD while everyone else on the dancefloor CANT even interact with him....Twilo-esque night indeed!! |
someone getting a blowjob sitting on those rails right across the DJBooth... PvD must have had an entertaining evening. If anyone else saw that too - please share with us!
Wazzup to fella ruzzki

PS I'll ID myself since i dont post much - was the the guy in a black/white striped shirt (tel'nyazhka)... who was offering [vick's]-like nasal balm ![]() |
