It doesn't really help that IGK works with young kids/in elementary schools doing like, videography or something. Lol.

See, then that's unfortunate. I coached swim lessons for 6 years to children 8 years old and under, constantly in contact with their arms, legs, and bodies. Do people automatically get labeled pedophiles simply for being around kids? I've read numerous horror stories online of fathers hanging out at playgrounds with their daughters and constantly getting weird looks or unfair treatment because crazy over-protective mothers think every man seen with a child is an uncontrollable rapist.

However, I've never actually witnessed that in person. Perhaps if these men are constantly getting strange looks then maybe they just look shady as fuck.

I know it's been around long before its recent surge in popularity, but I'm already fed up with 'gaslighting.' I get that the term seems more relevant now than ever before, but it's quickly become another quasi-academic descriptor that's worked its way into the popular vernacular and is hastily used in every day situations to describe anything that bears even only a superficial resemblance to the phenomenon.

Maybe then it's not necessarily words that bother me, just the way we devalue their meaning once they start trending.

I guess this is the reason we're criticising most words here. Once they make it to the mainstream, a vocal minority tends to overuse these new buzzwords as to render them meaningless.

They're usually coined with good intentions, and then get out of hand.

Are you gaslighting us????

The Guardian has been on a toxic rampage over the last few days. All of these have been headlines in the last week:

Toxic political agenda is dehumanising entire groups, Amnesty warns

Business rates: this toxic row will return unless we find a fairer alternative

Pity the imperilled butterfly, fluttering out of toxic lives. Pity us, too

You know what's really toxic? The substances used to make this:
