Originally posted by mizzuno Ok i have been on this board just as long as you if not longer and I'm not "just" a 15 year old. I disagree, in fact i believe that you may be in another dimension. 2001 was the year of progressive, I think we can all agree, no vocals, no or very little builds, basically boring shit, 2002 vocals and uplifting came back, and progressive became more melodic...thankfully. So lets start talking facts instead of opinions. I heard enough of the fools say at the end of 2000 that epic was dead blah blah...then 2002 came around and all thoses dumbasses seem to be wrong. Facts not opinions....opinions are like assholes everyone has one. MizzzUNO
I will say Gouryella - Ligaya . After all the talking about this track that I heard before I had listened, I came to a huge disappointment, in my opinion, a plain melodic track, but no a WOW track. I expected way toooo much for this track, as is some of Svenson and Gielen latest tracks, besides the answer which is good, but the rest like you know what you did, it just plain disappointment, expected better as well. Dumonde has let me down as well.
Ligaya ... biggest disap. in the history of trance to me
Re: Dutch trance 2002

Originally posted by Vesa Epic trance isn't dead. Many producers were only starting to get good at it back in 2000. If they had continued their development, there would have been lots of innovative melodic tracks with new soundscapes this year, but instead, the producers lost it completely for some reason. Too much money? Too much drugs? Too old? Dunno, but many people made better tracks a couple years ago. Not all, of course, but those producers that I've been following most closely. Here are my biggest disappointments of 2002. Note that I'm not saying that these tunes suck. Actually, many of them are quite OK. But I had extremely high expectations for them because the producers seemed godlike in their earlier career. Kid Vicious - Proceed (not as good as his earlier melodic tracks) Mesh - Purple Haze (very simple track structure even for a B-side, and his new sounds do not convince) everything by Geert Huinink (too proggy, why wasn't there even one old-fashioned Dawnseekers track with strings?) everything by Armin (his previous years were master's work, but now it's only ordinary stuff) Rank 1 album (not bad, but I had hoped they could recreate their 1999 sound) Sunstar - Sea Of Desire (Sunstar club mix) and a few other their tracks (the vocals suit the track quite well, but otherwise the tune lacks energy) For me, Ligaya was what I expected. Not a super-innovative tune, but it was still at least normal Ferry quality. Signum and Katana also kept their own. The only guy to improve was Ralph Barendse, who's already starting to compete for number one position in Dutch trance. I think the other Dutch guys should now stay in the studio to regroup, instead of putting out lame tracks just for the sake of releasing.

Originally posted by DarkLordz maybe its tune, cuz the original song is good, all pvd did was add his gay bassline, original 0wnz it. On the note of pvd is there anything he did in 2002 that isnt repetative crap?

Gouryella - Ligayi BY FAR
solarcoaster is a wicked tune! get your head out your arse!
There is way too much hating going around here. Calm down now kiddies, save the energy for the dance floor.
I wasn't affected much by the hype of ligaya. I'm glad I wasn't. When I heard it was coming out, all I expected was a decent trance song that could be inserted well into a set: not some huge epic song that was going to revolutionize electronic music as we know it. You guys need to calm down with the hype and expectations you set, or you will never be satisfied with another song ever again.
Personally, I think Ligaya isn't the greatest tune ever, but it's nowhere near the most disapointing of the year. I can understand that it may have been disappointing to those of you who overanticipated it; but it's kind of a shame that it had to be that way.
I'm a fan of Solar Coaster also. It's no Seven Cities, but its still got a nice feel to it, and was nice to hear when I heard it in the tiesto set @ Club Space.
S&G- We know what you did (tiesto mix) is actually fairly amusing. Maybe it's me, I am just a sucker for drawn out melodies.
Not everyone can make an epic trance song every time they try: even the best of them can't do that. Others are lucky to even make one epic song in their whole career. Don't settle for mediocrity, but also don't set your expectations so high based off of hype. Listening, dancing, and having fun: that's what the music is all about.

thank god no one has mentioned
JamX & De Leon - Mind Made Up..

long live DuMonde!

. When i heard it done live at Sensation, it sounded worse. (my opinion only)
Why do so many of you guys hate Ligaya???!?!? I love it.
It harks back to the far superior uplifting days of trance that are all but dead now (tiesto's stupid decision to end the magiks confirms this). It was a welcome tune.....not as good as the first three but still better than a lot of the progressive shitteroos that have been pumped out lately.
Oh....I absolutely fucking love Armin but his last two songs were shite. Sunburn used the same samples as Dust.wav and Yet Another Day feat Ray Wilson was a total shitteroo of a tune.
Shitteroo....I love making up words to bitch about things.
Ohhhhhh shit.....how could I forget!!!
Umek-Gatex can be crowned "King Shitteroo Tune of the Year". Even the Tiesto mix of that song sucked donkey balls. Why would he waste his time remixing that techy trance shite? He should have remixed Ligaya and made it better than it already is.
Ah...Tiesto.....he's going the Oak way I'm afraid. First, he leaves Gouryella....doesn't work with ferry or armin anymore (his best productions are with them) and has totally left the uplifting scene which made him king of trance to begin with. Now he's stopped the Magiks.
I guess just Tiesto is the biggest disappointment of the year.....not any specific tune but his career decisions. I'll say it now....I doubt he'll still be #1 for 2003. I have to change my siggy.
