File --> Burn image --> select cue file you want to burn.

The cue file must refer to the mp3 file you want to burn.

probably because you say nothing about your minidisc's functions and abilities.

However....If you transfer mp3 files digitally to your minidisc (32x speed super duper thingy), then there's nothing more to do, than use some cue program to load the cue file and split your mp3 into individual tracks.

If your minidisc player does not have the ability to transfer audio digitally, then there's not much you can do but split the tracks manually (the sony mz units usually have their own button for it), after the recording process.

Good luck

Never tried myself. I am pretty sure that you cannnot make an MP3 cue file in this program, or any, from what I know.

Hmm its ok then.

I don't think you need all the stuff before the actual file name. So try cutting out everything before DJ_Lane.... But make sure you have the cue file in the same directory as the file you are burning.

Hello! one solution for tracking a mix

Hi,
Here's my solution for tracking a mix if you use Sound Forge for the recording part and want to use .cue file for burning. It's a tool that makes the conversion.

Posted by dukes on Jul-16-2004 17:05:

ok after reading through all of this and trying many time and getting nowhere....

IS ANYONE GONNA MAKE A DEFINITIVE "CUE FILE TUTORIAL"????!!!!!???

its all fine having all this info but it would be better to have a walk through for nero users and a walkthrough for other.

Posted by Orbital32 on Jul-25-2004 16:33:

you guys want to check out cue master. This allows you to search FreeDB for the tracks first, and if not you can easily add the tracks manually. best of all...It's free!

edit: it MIGHT help if i put the proper tags... [url] instead of [img]

Which program is that?

Posted by minchia on Oct-13-2004 05:54:

hey people, just quiring, i use nero to burn my cue files, but when nero cuts it and copies it to a cd half of the tracks are hidden. when track one ends the next track comes on but the counter is in the negative, then when that track ends the counter changes back to normal, and so on. for a cd with 13 tracks on it, it only registers that it has 6, with every second track being hidden inside the next track. now, if anyone understood that ramble, please help, tis soooooooooo annoying. thx

Ok - here ya go.

CUE File Tutorial - Cutting Gaps in Dance Livesets

The problem:

Dance / electronic livesets are continuously mixed, with no audible gaps between tracks. Commercial compilation CD's come with cue gaps imbedded in the CD so you can skip from track to track, again with no audible gaps.

Public domain livesets - unmodified - are all read by the CD players as Track 1: if you hit the skip button, you will always go back to the beginning.

Nobody wants this. Very annoying. Big problem if you are really into downloading public domain livesets, and want to have usable CD's

So:

What is the most efficient way to put the cue gaps in your downloaded sets, and burn them to CD?

Answer:

1 - Place the gaps in the MP3 (or wav) file manually, by choosing where each track ends and the next one begins

2 - Create a CUE file from this information. CUE files (.cue extension) are what a CD burning program will use to burn the gaps onto your CD.

3 - Burn the MP3 / wav onto a CD using the CUE file

Method:

You will need the following programs

1 - MP3DirectCut

Freeware - use this to

a. Go thru your MP3 or wav file, and choose where to put your gaps

b. Create your CUE file

2 - CDR Win or Nero -

Commercial programs - not hard to get - CD burning programs that will allow you to burn the CD with your CUE file information

Install the programs, then ...

Step by Step:

1 - Open MP3 Direct Cut. Open your MP3 or wav file (File, Open)

2 - OK. You will see a visual representation of your file, peaks. You can also play the file and listen as you go through.

Figure this out: play the file, use the buttons to skip through, listen, and look at the waveform to decide where to put your gaps. The first one (beginning of file) is set automatically.

3 - When you find a place where you want to put your gap, click your mouse on the waveform at that exact spot. DO NOT DRAG (keep it a thin blue line) Then click the 'Cut' button on the bottom left of the program.

This will change the blue line to orange. Continue on through your file until you place an orange gap between all of the tracks.

NOTE: MP3 Direct Cut also allows you to modify the ID3 - Artist, Name information.... allows you to fade the file in (get rid of annoying radio announcers) and fade out .... allows you to easily split long MP3 files in half or however many pieces you want. Explore it - it does a lot.

4 - If you are done with the MP3 / wave, do a SAVE AS on this file with a new name (put a CUT at the end of the filename or something ... "my-liveset-CUT.mp3) This is, in case there is a problem and you want to get back to the original to change the gaps.

5 - When you are done with this - go to "Special --> Save Cue Sheet and Edit with Notepad" on the menu

Save this CUE sheet in the same directory as your file! (important)

When it comes up in Notepad, you will see the code for the CUE sheet. Simple stuff.

Make sure the filename at the top reflects the name of your saved file (with the new filename)

You will also see where to type in the Artist / Name, and if you have a setlist, you will see where to put the names of the tracks. (near TITLE).

Careful modifying this file, if you screw it up the burner will error out.. Then save.

Now:

6 - Open CDR-Win or Nero. I will give the tutorial for CDR-WIN

7 - In CDRWin, click on Record CD. Then click Load Cuesheet on the right.

8 - Then click Record CD.

Your liveset will now be cut with the fade-ins, fade outs, inaudible gaps between tracks, and you can skip thru the set just like a commercial CD

In Nero I believe you need to Burn Image, and choose your CUE sheet as the image to burn. Same basic process otherwise.

Hope this helps

Sounds like there's something wrong with the CUE file you're burning with. Its not giving NERO the right information?

Try and follow the method I outlined above.

Hi everyone, i also have a question. Dunno whether this has already been discussed but is it possible to burn multiple cues on a single cd? Because if you take shorter sets and burn them as audio, you can put number of these on 1 cd. Can i do a similar thing with cue files?

i don't think so. but why would you want to do that? why don't you add the information from both (or more) files into one file. it will work fine. does this help?

INDEX 01 00:00:00

But sometimes I find this format. what is this one? how do I handle it?
[00:00] 01. aaa - song name
[07:58] 02. ccc - something else
[14:31] 03. eee - blaaa

thanks!

well thats just a quick hand way of quickly doing a tracklists with time...

if its written like so:
01- Armin - Blue Fear 00:00
02- Tiesto - Traffic 05:33
...

in the mp3cue plugin for winamp tou can right click >> import cue >> instead of the .cue extension select .txt extension

clear as mud

im thinkin of makin a new cue file tutorial cause this one is just too messy for any newbies
