it takes an overall appreciation for music to like ADD. If you're all about the buildup and breakdowns of trance, you won't like this album...It seems common (and I do it to) to just skip the first 3 minutes of a song and get to the buildup. You cannot do that with progrssive otherwise you WILL dislike it. To me, most trance songs focus on the buildup and breakdowns. The rest is kinda side stuff, it's important to the song but it doesn't require as much thought as the buildup/breakdown. Progressive is all about the gradual changes to the music. Little differences that make or break the song. IMO <- Im serious on that, don't start crying...progressive requires more musical talent than trance does (generally, there are always exceptions).

p.s. ADD is #1

sorry, but just because I listen to progressive, doesn't mean I'm following the crowd

And there's nothing to "get" about techno

Ummmmmmmm no that's not a definition of a gino. Gino's are basically losers that blatantly STEAL anything that is remotely unique and created by another social group and act macho/bad ass and have a horrible arrogant and stupid attitude toward anything they see as not cool). The contradiction I see with that is eventually they start to see what they thought was stupid previously as now being very in and acceptable. Let me explain, spiked hair was mostly worn by rock bands, (mohawk's etc) and ginos spike their hair as well, ok not to the extent of a mohawk but the effect is still generated. Similarly the same thing happens with glo-sticks. They stole those from the rave community and thought it was "cool" to do that at clubs etc. The only original thing about them is the greased hair (I put gel in mine sometimes but just the way that they do it I find is ludicrous) and the cheezey euro/"freestyle" garbage candy "bubblegum dance music" as some have termed it on TA. My rant is done. lol (If you don't believe what I typed believe it, my brother's a moderate gino, I live with one)

What you have just mentioned is the longest stereotype I've ever heard. If I were to describe you to a rap fan, or alternative fan, they'll right away call you a gino. A dude that goes to club and listens to beats music... Don't seperate youself from something that you believe is negative, but assess your own personality. You might actually belong to it. Picture yourself from other's point of view.

quote:

2. I proved a point that you who call yourself a true raver and true tranceaddict also listen to jungle/dnb/hardhouse/happy hardcore...so you're not a true tranceaddict by your own definition

lol, why must you invent things to argue? I've never called myself a raver/true tranceaddict, nor did I ever mention anything about myself.
But I will add to what you have said since you have brought it up. Yes I do like dnb, jungle, but I love trance the most. What I have originally said is that trance is not the most loved music of the people on this forum. But why do these people come to a forum thats about trance addiction? Are they joining only because they want to be underground? Probably...

quote:

3. i dont know how to respond to this...you completely misunderstood the entire point of that post.

On the contrary...

This thread will never die I tell you!

I think I'm going to boycott the word gino from my vocab after this post. If a gino is just someone who goes to clubs and listens to beats, then half the population of Europe are ginos. However, the word Gino is only use in Toronto. No two people have the same definition of a gino, some say it's Italian who listen to dance music. Some say its a clubber who listens to beats, etc etc. I think it's about time we put this word to rest. It has no meaning anymore! everything you describe about a gino is something you can describe about another 'clique'. Ginos go to clubs...so do people who listen to hip hop/rap/reggae/salsa etc... Ginos drive Civics...so does my mom (well its Acura but whats the diff)...Ginos listen to "beats"...Rap has beats, dance has beat, trance has beats...
You could say all ravers are drug addicts...but they're not

You have mentioned about true ravers on TA or lack of for that matter. You posted something in the Ravers Gone Wild thread about there not being enough true tranceaddicts on the bored (you must think you are, or you wouldn't be complaining about it).

stereotype ( P ) Pronunciation Key (str--tp, str-)
n.

1. A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.

2. One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.

3. Printing. A metal printing plate cast from a matrix molded from a raised printing surface, such as type.

Ummm what I mentioned is considered a stereotype as far as it is what I see when I went to clubs like Berlin or The Docks during "Hot summer rush" etc (some family friends/brother I knew were going, I was bored so I went). It's "One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type." The image of the gino. But that does NOT mean I apply that to EVERY person who is dressed in Diesel and wears parasuco and wifebeater shirts that I meet. I give everybody a fair chance and try not to judge anyone without talking to them first.

In response to you saying I would be a gino (others have also said that as well jokingly), how would I be considered a gino? I don't have the attitude, I don't really dress like one (No spiked hair, or tons of gel etc), again I don't have any of the ATTITUDE that I mentioned that sometimes PRIMARILY makes up most of the gino populous.

As for seperating myself from that which I see as negative, the gino bit, I just think it's funny. So by looking outside myself at myself I don't think I apply to that specific group (although people have thought that I do, that is not the case as they see how I really am, ie I have no attitude).
Ok no more rambling out of me...I don't even know why I typed all this out, I could care less what people think of me. Ah wellz.
Chris

P.S. I agree w Elmo.

Elmo,
From of that last post you said nothing.

wave,
Other than defnining stereotype out of a dictionary, you've said nothing as well.

Guys look. The word gino was drilled into your head as a "bad" word. Something that you don't want to be. As you have learned, or maybe should have learned , there is no such thing as bad or good. Gino is just as normal as a raver/rapper/rocker/etc. Look outside, its not as bad as you think it is.

...the 'gino flame war' started with you saying you want the ginos banned from TA...
there is such thing as bad and good. This thread = bad. What do you called someone in Montreal who goes to clubs & listens to 'beats'? call them a gino and they'll look at you like this

this is useless...I feel like i'm talking to Hitler

I didn't say "nothing". I said it was an IMAGE just as YOU say it is similar to "raver/rapper/rocker/etc". That is true. I just think it's funny that's all, just as some people who think it's funny how some people decide to dress up when they hit up raves or rock concerts or rap parties. I don't think I've ever said a gino is bad or I hate them or anything. I hate anybody with attitude, gino or not.

Hm... in the words of my granddaddy [not literally] Armand Van Helden:

But the media
be misleadin' ya
You believe whatever they feedin' ya
Come on - you like lies?
They ain't underground if they have to advertise
They got your eyes wide shut

That's not directed at anyone in particular, but the point I'm trying to make is that a lot of people use the word "underground" far too liberally. The trance scene in Toronto is hardly underground, it's just not "mainstream" either.

(Ah Gandhi Kahn, is there anything he doesn't know...)
