here is the set up that another DJ and i designed and built. there is still some work to be done (black trim and putting a clear coat finish on the wood) but this is pretty much it. the only thing you can't see in the pic is the amps and the dual 18 sub that the JBLs are sitting on.

Is it just me or is that mixer realy realy realy realy out of place? Its like you see the technics 1200s you see the cdj-1000's then you see the pioneer djm-300 2 channel mixer.... still its fucking awesome though.....

PS: Do you make a regular wall unit instead of a corner unit.....cuzz ill take 1 please.....LOL)

while it is only a 2 channel mixer it has 4 inputs. The other DJ i built this is considering buying either a pioneer djm-500 or a djm-3000 to replace the djm-300 that is there. any comments on one over the other? from what i gather they are pretty much the same thing with just a different layout.

doesnt haveing the speaker sooo near to the turn tables have adverse effects? ....other than that id prefer to have a 3rd turn table....

have not experienced any problems with the turntables yet. the 2 speakers on the side are cushioned so the table will not vibrate and they are faced up enough that they do not bother the turn tables. a third turn table would throw off the symmetry

That's totally true about having the speaker too close. When i was pumping my system even somewhat loud, the bass would start humming. Thought it was a problem with my needle or my mixer, turns out the speaker was too close to my tables. Even with it facing away from me.

even when the system is cranked i have yet to experience this problem. the bass always stays crisp and clear.

Here's My Setup

Stanton's and a Behringer with shitty speakers, but hey what the fuck...

Hopefully in the future I can snag a set of 1200's and a Stanton VRM-10 with some nice monitors.

i agree it's really out of place and they are not even technics, look closely at the 2nd pic and you see that they are gemini's.
wtf? right beside the CDJ-1000's, really out of place! no offence still a good set up

good idea. if you show them what you have right now and they dont like it they will let you know. people dont seem to understand that upgrading equiptment may take time. god fobid you have a pair of great cd players but a pair of turntables that they dont like. your equiptment is only as good as you make it. as DJ dawn said when someone told him to get a second technics..."and just how would that make my mixes any better?"

Dude, could you post the plans/blueprint for this?
It looks fucking great. How much did you spend building it?

i will see if i can get the blueprints scanned in (as long as the other guy i spin with still has them). as for the price i will have to get back to you. all the wood was not bought at the same time so it will have to be added it up.

Exactly.

In this dj setup thing i think that only dj jades has one of the best setup in here. Everyone else is only o.k.

Posted by fr0st on Apr-01-2003 02:28:

yeah my only gripe with whitesmokes is well if the speakers dont rattle the tables, cuzz that would prob. Is the lack of a 3rd table......I like to scratch and such and having a 3rd table makes it much easier to do soo cuzz with only 2 tables youll be hard pressed for scratching time when it comes to mixing time. Because you have to take off the scratch sample record and replace it with the next song.........

understandable. however, i dont scratch when i mix but if i did have the desire i could use the 1000s for that. not only are the speakers on cushions but the turn tables are as well.

yeah forgot all about the 1000's those things actually make great tools for scratching wish i had a set.....hell i dont even have 3 turntables...but most the clubs ive played at do soo its all good....im in the proccess of building record shelves just started the plans today...gonna cost about 300 for the wood alone.....should be nice ill post pics when its done.

Posted by whitesmoke on Apr-01-2003 03:07:

our next plan is to build an island behind the table that houses all the vinyl and cds. i'll post pics when that is done.
