I saw this movie called "Amores Peros" at the Wellington film festival....talk about a fucked up movie. It's a spanish film with subtitles, set in Mexico City.

3 stories going on at once and they all come together at the end...very well done but still fucked up..

I finally switched over to DVD and to celebrate, I bought this movie.

I have watched a lot of movies lately

Chung King Express - Wong Kar-Wai's "Chungking Express" is as fresh as falling rain, a pair of love stories full of pain and humor. Shot fast and sometimes furiously on crowded Hong Kong streets, it speaks in its own highly personal shorthand, expressed through the most fluid of cameras and punctuated with bold whooshes of color and potent bursts of American pop music.

Fallen Angels - To describe the plot is to miss the point. ``Fallen Angels'' takes the materials of the plot--the characters and what they do--and assembles them like a photo montage. At the end, you have impressions, not conclusions. His influences aren't other filmmakers, but still photographers and video artists--the kinds of artists who do to images what rap artists are doing to music when they move the vinyl back and forth under the needle.

I would reccomend both of them, both by the same director but are amazing movies, that like it says at the end you are left with a impression, i do not know, a must see movie if you like film for just film, i do not know hard to explain, but i love them.

Chungking Epress is one of my favorites as well. Also by Wong Kar Wai (director of Chungking and Fallen Angels) is Happy Together. Stylistically cool as well though some may find the intro a bit much as the film revolves around a gay couple. Basically about 2 Hong Kong gays who take a trip to Brazil (or was it Argentina? I forget) and "find" themselves. I highly recommend it. It's pretty funny too. It's the last movie where his style is similar to the 2 mentioned movies. His next is In the Mood For Love, is excellent too but in a different way.

As mentioned above, Amorres Perros is great too...I didn't think it was so fucked up though...

my 2 cents...

I just got back from that movie- and I left you a voice message inviting you to come along too, but did you call back? Nooooooooo....!

Very good flick. It's only playing for 2 more nites at the Royal in Little Italy. Catch it while u can. For some reason, I am acting like a tweaker myself, since walking out of the theatre......

Elephant is a really weird cool flick. Wonderfully shot, good acting/screenplay.

Dune is a great stoner movie. The original Lynch version. Eraserhead is a messed up flick. Very bizarre. Blue Velvet. The Shining (original Jack Nicholson). Kubrick
is really wicked.

BAsketball Diaries (with Leo DiCaprio)
Reservoir Dogs
The Fisher King (with Robin Williams.....a great film)
The Following (from the director of Momento....awesome)

oh for sure check out Waking Life and Before Sunrise as mentioned earlier. As well as Blow, Trainspotting, GO, etc..

I thought I enjoyed those type of movies as well, all this time I was only fascinated by the new innovations these edittors bring to the film itself
So in regards, a Tony Scott film would do! Especially 'Man on Fire'.. and the obvious 'Kill Bill V.1' (The 2nd wasn't nearly as good, I thought it lost its touch~!)

Once inawhile relax with something like Lost In Translation or Besieged.. heh have fun

4 which nobody has mentioned:

Spun (all star cast - funny and fucked up at the same time...gotta love the green dog, Taco!)

Soul Survivors (don't know if its the right one or not, but it totally keeps you guessing. One minute theyre all dead, next they arent, then they are again...completely messed)

Gothika (found this one pretty boring and frustrating at one point)

Magnolia (If you've seen it, youll understand )

Also, The Others, with Nicole Kidman I had NO idea it was goin to end the way it did!

(already mentioned) 28 days later. Theres really no way to explain this movie.

I have no idea if this is actually getting released but apparently in the late summer The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things may be coming out. It didn't get very good reviews from the Cannes festival unfortunetly. However, im in the middle of reading the book and it's fucked up

i haven't seen and don't know much about it, but David Lynch's Eraserhead was supposed to be a little messed up but very good. old though
