But yea everything is potentially logged in these days, don't chance it. Actually I've tried those proxy sites myself at work and even those r blocked.

i wish i worked for a mom and pop company so i didnt have to worry. im tempted to bring in my spare laptop and tether through my cell if i can do so without at&t noticing or charging me more

THAT'S IT!!!! I am looking for a NEW JOB! I came back from vacation only to find out no one covered me while I was out. I had 800 emails and 95 missed calls while I was out. No one placed any of the daily orders that are crucial in replacing defective IT equipment for our stores nationwide and there are piles and piles of paperwork on my desk. I was stuck here an hour late yesterday.

On top of that I had a nice message from the payroll department waiting for me. Apparently they have not charged me any "city tax" for the 5+ years that I have been working here so now even though I got a raise recently I am going to be making less money because they are going to take it going further and this situation really could have screwed me on my tax returns. They said it is possible I never reported to them that I lived in the city?!?! Are you fucking kidding me? Don't YOU HAVE MY ADDRESS? How much common sense does it really take?

You would think that if payroll made a mistake, that they would have to cover it for you. Its not YOUR fault. I mean, shit, you have to write your permanent addy as soon as you are hired, so wtf! how annoying and inconvenient.

godd its just like Corporate to try to put the blame on you ("it is possible I never reported to them that I lived in the city"). get the f*ck outta here...duh ur address is still considered Queens, if not Flushing even. WDH?! Who on payroll doesnt know how to look at a map?! hm someone in Payroll needs to get fired...

and it sounds like they totally take you for granted there! man that SUCKS!!!

It could have been a lot worse. Luckily I used Turbo tax all these years and when you check the box that you live in NY city it estimates the amount of tax you should pay based on gross income so I have been paying it but at the end of the year and it has not been deducted from my company. If I would have strictly used the information on my W2 to file for the pervious 5 years then I calculated that I would have ended up owing the city $4,740.

I just got a little raise because my annual review just passed and since they are going to take the money going forward I am going to be getting paid less but hopefully that means since I am paying it throughout the year I will get a bigger return at the end of the year. I also asked around to other co-workers that live in the 5 boroughs and they have told me that payroll called them also. Apparently they did an audit of all of the employees and are just now discovering this. I don't even know who's mistake this was and if there person is even still here, so of course they have to point the finger at someone to cover their asses and they are blaming us.
I got comments like:

1. Well may be you didnt report to us that you lived in the city.
2. Oh well have you ever moved since you were working here.
3. Why didn't you take notice to your paychecks and TELL US something. (like I would notice something like that)
4. and the best one of all....Well we really have sooo many employees that it is hard to keep track and that is why we do these occassional audits.

TOTAL BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after the week i put up with last week, i slept from friday night into sunday afternoon. i went to the "Cherry Blossoms" festival at Batanical Garden in BK follwed by going into the office at 6pm on Sunday.
