Longest two weeks ever....

I still can't bring myself to watch anything on the SB or the NFL for that matter... doesn't mean I don't approve, I do... because there are no gay teams in it like LAST YEAR....

anyway, I do not like the Bears... but I'm going with the darker head coach ftw...

Bears 19
Colts 17

I want the Colts to win, so I think I'm just picking the Bears so I jinx them....

and now I'm going to go and cry, because after tomorrow... my days will be ENTIRELY filled with idiots chanting: "DICE K!!!!!!!!!"

dumb sox fans are the worst...

ok time for the big game!

weather says there is going to be 30% percipitation on gametime, which is bad for the quarterbacks. who knows how many times grossman will have the ball slip out of his hands. then again, he played college ball in florida U, so he better know the knack of playing in humid weather and rainy conditions. as for peyton manning, i see him drop the ball about 5 times during the game, and 3 more time on the sidelines.

my prediction : bears win! 24-16
my super bowl mvp : tank johnson. just for the hell of it. he gets busted with guns and mary joes at his abode, and about 2 months later, he gets awarded the super bowl mvp.

announcer: "so tank! what are you going to do now? you just won the super bowl mvp?"
tank: "damn son! you know what i am going to do? i am going to call up ray lewis and his lawyer to get me out of the jam i am in. where's johnnie cochran when i need him ? johnnie!"

Butters, your posts are too long. Once or twice is ok but not all the time. My attention span won't last past the first paragraph. Maybe consider bullet points or phrase key topics in outline form. Thanks in advance.

Bravo! You are the man.

I'll see about that hot vietnamese girl I got at my work for ya.

I'm hoping the Colts win of course but it's like 51% hope. I more care about a close and entertaining game with some funny commercials spliced in.

Colts 27 - Bears 23

Congrats to Manning, Dungy and the Colts!
The religious references in the speeches were a bit much though.
But anyways, now all the talk about Manning not having won a championship can be put to rest.

the monkey has finally been released from peyton's shoulders. has he passed the monkey to his brother eli? i guess we will see soon in the next couple of years. grats to the colts. damn did grossman look bad. i thought he would be comfortable, seeing that he was back at his college roots of florida, but he just stunk it up.

Posted by Kapedano on Feb-05-2007 03:56:

i actually said somewhere in this thread that this was manning year, and i was right!

Happy to see Peyton get his ring so now:

Manning > Marino

Rex Grossman......still sucks.

I think he'd rather play in blizzard back in Chicago.

The rain fucked him up, combined with him not handing the pressure well and got too nervous.

Posted by King Ecnal on Feb-05-2007 05:09:

Defense wins championships... oh wait... Defense with Rex Grossman DON'T win championships...

fuck da bears...

I don't know, it was too low-key for me, Peyton just acted like..."woop dee doo, I won the super bowl... next"

like...wtf...

ENJOY it! He needed to get out of the "BUSINESS" mindset... I don't know...

seeing as he'll only win ONE...

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Feb-05-2007 05:11:

my teams can't finish the deal lately....oh well. I'm not really surprised. I thought the game was going to be closer but Grossman blew it in the second half by untimely fumbles and two really bad throws. He's young but you just dont make those mistakes!

The defense was much too conservative on guarding against Manning...they were worried about the long ball too much when they should have been blitzing far more often. Manning did not play overly well...he just kept throwing it underneath for 4-7 yard gains and it worked quite well.

Benson getting injured fucked things up but you cant go 3 and out conisstently in a SB an expect to win.

I doubt the Bears will be back in the SB next year but the potential is there. If only they could land someone like Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, etc.

Colts did the same thing against the Pats, just picked apart the D and tired them out... and I still don't know how they got away with it... both times... They've FINALLY figured out how to win the RIGHT way...

lets just hope they FORGET how in the offseason...lol

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Feb-05-2007 05:19:

nobody will remember I said this here, but the Colts won't be forming a Patriots-style dynasty. No fucking way. I doubt Manning will win another SB either but at least he got one, unlike Chokey Marino.

But their defense has way too many holes and flaws for them to carry their superhuman postseason play through to next season. When the fuck is an NFC team going to get a Bears type defense but also a superstar QB? It's been awhile. Where the fuck are their scouting reports come draft time?

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Feb-05-2007 05:24:

just curious, did anybody really rate that game anyway? I thought it was pretty shit after the 1st quarter in terms of quality play. I know it was raining but the whole thing seemed anti climactic, methodic and, well....boring. Even if da bears had won (I'd obviously be happy) but I still would have admitted that it was an ugly game overall.

I used to question the fairness of always having the Shit Bowl down south in warmer weather but today kinda shows how weather can ruin a game.

Posted by Member of X on Feb-05-2007 05:38:

Yeah no shit, there was like 22 turnovers. Very sloppy game! Two times with fumbling back to back. Then the 2nd half was just a bunch of Colts swing passes and runs up the middle.

Kind of sleepy in the end. Not the most entertaining super bowl. What was up with Peyton after he won? Like he barely cared. Ho hum. ????

Posted by denys envy on Feb-05-2007 05:38:

it was a defensive game that's why. even though it was high scoring - most of the opportunities came off take-aways and returns.

some people just have no appreciation for those types of things. anyway i enjoyed it. it was good to see both coaches completely re-invent themselves. in the end - grossman lost the game like we knew he would. if bears could keep the lead then they would've won. but when you get into a shoot-out with Payton Manning, and your name is not Tom Brady, you will, in all likelyhood, lose.

congrats to Dungy, Harrison, and of course Manning - these three deserve it. And a hell of a start to a career for Addai. I bet Edgerrin James feels like a fucking fool right now in AZ.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Feb-05-2007 05:45:

turn overs are exciting but.......the whole game just felt so...blasaie...it's hard to explain. Even the trophy presentation was boring. Manning looked like he just came out of a rub and tug and Dungy was going on about "the lord" as always.

But this is what happens when a game is hyped like the second coming of Christ...

Posted by WM2 on Feb-05-2007 06:00:

It really wasn't that great of a game. Almost seemed like just another regular season game. Although, I'm glad we finally did it. It's been long enough now. We're only the best regular season team of the last 7 years or so. It's nice to finally win the big one and prove we can do it.

Posted by Thierry on Feb-05-2007 10:35:

Very interesting game with all the turnovers. Congrats to the Colts on winning. I actually predicted 31-20... so close. Was a very sloppy game, but what do you expect with that much rain and such tense nerves from everybody out there?? Grossman was awful. Those punt/passes were very Pennington 2005-like. Could he be done in Chicago? Maybe he just needs a couple years to mature, but only time will tell.

Enjoy this SB Peyton, this is your only one

what a long strange trip its been.

I didn't know who I was cheering for until the game started, and it turned out to be da bears, althogh I am still happy that Indy won - probably b/c this means even more commercials for Peyton Manning, which he is awesome in.

I also wonder who is going to make a bigger splash in the TV business Marshall Faulk or Tiki Barber? Probably Barber b/c of NYC but Faulk will be all over the sports channels due to him being the smartest player in football history.

Also next year will be the first year that I'm not living practically on the field where the Eagles have their training camp so maybe I won't start the season with as much hate.... maybe.

Call me when baseball season starts.
