ite so im 168 now. and dropped a considerable chunk of fat off... pretty much no fat left. next 2 weeks are the cutting phase.

so far ive been:

running 7 miles every other day to the gym and back (7m round trip)
this last week I ran to the gym and back every day and worked out too obviously. Now i took 3 days off for revialization. Today I start with ZE LEANING PROCESS!!!

Today I am eating half a tomato for breakfast. I will then run and workout. on return. the other half. with 2 deli thin slices of turkey.

For dinner, the same.

This will be my diet until the 3 day fast I do before the official competition day

whats everyone else up to hehe

hahaha....ahhh this threads great. Im goin to teh gym again today. Ive been hittin legs pretty dern hard. im now weighing in at 168ish

Posted by nrjizer on Feb-14-2005 19:33:

Whomg!

What I really need is to lean up some. I want to be really ultra lean (its hard to tell in that pic when I'm flexing, but I've still got some left over body fat that hangs around). I do like how my muscles are coming along tho.

Posted by Orbax on Feb-14-2005 20:05:

heck yeah man. Shoulder and arms are comin along well. Definitely would be able to see a lot more with a percentage drop there.

two biggest things i can see needin work are traps and chest. Make sur eyou hit that incline bench on occasion. Im an incline bench sloot.

Other than that lookin good meng. Youre in for the 28th for abs right?! start that diet today!

Posted by lcid on Feb-14-2005 23:32:

ok so let me introduce myself to this thread by saying i'm quite the gym n00b, lol... but i just started my routine last week and have been enjoying it so far. i'm not exactly on the same level as you guys, considering i'm a girl, so i'm not really looking to build huge muscles. i just want to get nice and toned and lose the bit of flabbiness that i've got in my tummy/butt/hips/thighs.

right now i'm 5'6 and 112lbs, not sure of body fat %.

i go to the gym every monday, wednesday, and friday... and switch muscle groups each day. i still don't know all the muscle names so bear with me. also i've only been doing 15 min of cardio on the elliptical trainer everytime i go because i'm COMPLETELY out of shape (i have not played any sports since high school and that was 4 years ago, and i was a regular smoker for the last 2 years or so). i'm working my way up to being able to do an easy 30-40 minutes.

monday: arms and chest, and 15 min of cardio
wednesday: legs and butt, and 15 min of cardio
friday: abs and back, and 15 min of cardio

i haven't changed my diet much but i eat fairly healthy. food is my weakness.

whereas you guys are trying to achieve a look similar to arnold schwarzenegger, i am trying to achieve a look similar to a Victoria's Secret model, heheh.

so i have a few questions, hopefully some of you could answer (orbax i know i talked to you a bit about this on msn but i figured i'd join this thread to get advice i could read back on)...

1. is it better to do cardio before or after weights?
2. i see some of you are saying you should use free weights rather than machines... does that really make a difference in my case or is that more for building bigger muscles, etc?

any other comments would be great!! like i said i am new to all of this but i hope to go far and really see the difference.

and uhhhh i don't think i'll be posting semi-nude pics on TA, sorry.

ok so i'm not posting any pics of myself in a bikini but here are a few pics to get an idea of my body type. i know its hard to tell if there's fat on me since i look so damn skinny, but i do have a bit of pudge in my middle section (which is what im trying to get rid of!!)...

(all the way on the right)

and uhhhh... i want to look like this...

(maybe i should just start tanning, lol)

glycogen :

A polysaccharide, (C6H10O5)n, that is the main form of carbohydrate storage in animals and occurs primarily in the liver and muscle tissue. It is readily converted to glucose as needed by the body to satisfy its energy needs.

Now. Cardio uses this. So do weights. For pure weight loss, doesnt really matter. Someone trying to build muscle and who isnt very in shape is gonna have a problem with pre-cardio due to the fuel in the body being burned. it takes 24 hours for the levels to replenish. So for anyone reading who wants to build muscle, a hard core cardio before you work out is bad. 5 minutes on something to get heart rate up isnt gonna do anything though.

As far as machine vs freeweights...it gives you a more rounded, tighter look. You get to use full free motion and it also strengthens the small stabilizer muscles in your body. you know what im talking about if youve ever picked up heavy dumb bells and done bench. Your hands are all over the place. goes away after a bit, but thats because you just leveled up and got some new muscles

machines are primarly used for specific spot targeting. Like a fly machine is trying to get inner chest only whereas a dumb bell fly is gonna be rounding out the chest a little more evenly, but with heavier emphasis on inner chest.

most of that stuff is, again, for building muscle. But if you are trying to get generally toned. a lot of high rep low wieght exercises are your friend. That will give you a lot of neat little muscles everywhere just pokin out

as far as your current routine, i would change it slightly. Abs every day, and a whole day for legs.

so
Day 1: Chest - inner, outer, back- lats, lower back.
Day 2:Legs - Hamstrings, quads, calves, glutes.
Day 3: arms- triceps, biceps, shoulders (all three heads) and fore arms.

every day : Abs - obliques (the sides) and six pack.

and yeah tanning goes a long way for lookin like ze models...but gimme a PBR fed girl with no skin problems when shes 40 any day

boo leather necks!

Im preparing for the WMC activity and spring brake.. wanna look fit. What Im currently doing is running and sweating it for like 10 mins ( is a comeback from after a year of almost inactivity ) .. obviously I did some cardio once in a while but Im trying to make this a weekly.. day by day basis. After the running or something like WARM UP I hit the buddy building machines... I wont look like a muscle builder, but Im just looking to be fit, be able to see some muscle instead of just skin and a belly.. want to work out the chest and belly, and this seem to be the hardest.. the legs can be worked out running or hitting the bike.. even the arms are easier.. so yeah. Currently doing 2 sets of 20 for the machines ( chest builder - and arms mostly ) .. any suggestions appreciated.

And oh the diet. A sandwich with turkey and letters.. the only big meal is around 4 which is healthy.. I dont eat at night, and If I do is something light, like a yogurt, and oh.. by drinking lots and lots of water helps a lot. ;-)
