Originally posted by djstopngo you have to make the playoffs first. The sox are hitting their stride right now against the pitiful south siders. What happened to Garland? Nobody on the White Sox can hit and their pen (minus Jenks) is laughable. Did this team really sweep us in '05? Dark days in Hyde Park.

Originally posted by jerZ07002 that maybe true but i think seattle may have hit their stride a little early. They still have 7 (i think) against LAA, and 3 against the yankees. Plus they have a tough stretch coming up, 3 - LAA, 1 - CLE, 3 - TO, 3 - NYY. These next 4 series are almost make or break.

Originally posted by jerZ07002 agreed...remember what happened to detroit last year. they were hot as hell up until the last few weeks. On a side note, how the hell are the mariners even doing this???? they are mediocre offensively (just above average at best) and pretty bad pitching wise. it's baffling. however, i have a strong feeling they're about to go away. **fingers crossed**

If Ian Kennedy doesn't take Mike Mussinas spot in the rotation very soon all yankees fans should revolt.
He's throwing down a very very solid year:
IAN KENNEDY STATS
He's putting up comparable number to what chamberlain was putting up, minus the Ks. Although Kennedy's K per inning is pretty solid.

Originally posted by phuzzyfish12 I honestly don't think we have a chance of making it to the play-offs. We are falling apart again and we are running out of time to catch up. BUT the SOX will never make it past the first round. It doesn't say much about your team when you are in first place in your WEAK division. Red Soxs fans enjoy the season now cause its gonna end just a quickly as the Yanks

Originally posted by jerZ07002 REALLY?!?!?!?!?! AL East is weak? Just last week the yankees were being hailed as the best team in baseball. The Red Sox have the best record in baseball, and toronto is hovering over .500. That's hardly the worst division in baseball. The NL central clearly takes that distinction. Furthermore, the AL east is better than the AL central, NL east, and probably the NL west. It's a tough call with the AL west because they only have 4 teams and two of them are pretty hot atm and oakland is around .500. Im sorry, but you're just plain wrong about the sox getting the boot in the ALDS. They're almost guaranteed 2 wins with Beckett (games 1 and 4 if necessary), and a good bet with Dice-K. THey only need to win 3 games. Passion doesn't make for good arguments. All the spankees have to do is take the games against seattle, go 3/6 against boston through the end of the season, and beat up on the other teams. The only problem is we still play baltimore, who has been playing us like the D-Rays did a few years back. At this point the boston series means shit because the yankees aren't going to take the east. Give up on that, and focus on seattle and detroit. The loses to detroit were painful because they're back in it now!!!
FInally, i watch a game we're winning.

Joba is sick!!!!!!!!!! and he's only 21. His age gives him more upside than papelbon.
When Youk gets a 3-2 slider and Chamberlain shakes off several signs from Posada (and you have to assume Jorge wants the fastball) then why doesn't Drew anticipate the slider or at least an off speed pitch? I hate him.

Originally posted by djstopngo Yeah, I know. Also, did you notice how many ugly at bats there were in this game? The two that stood out in my mind were Pedroia's 3-0 debacle and Cano's at bat in which he took two hittable pitches and then struck out on a high fastball that was no where near the strike zone. Rivera looked very sharp, good sign for you guys down the stretch.
