Being an ex-avid snowboarder, I was always a little partial to Breckenridge. However, depends highly on the time of year you go. I wouldn't go to the hotspots like Vail and Breckenridge around Spring Break time if you paid me! Copper Mountain is pretty damn nice too, SnowMass is descent. I've also been partial to Loveland personally - always great snow, good mixture of both mediocre and challenging slopes, so if you have friends who suck they should still have a good time. The backsides were scary as hell, but that's what makes 'em so f$cking fun (at least for me!) I believe the town we stayed at outside was Georgetown, which had some descent lodging. If you're into partying it up, however, you'd probably be best with the Vail/Beaver Creek, Breckenridge areas, however.

Just my $.02. (

P.S. - what's all this schtick about leather and Maxim? Damnit, I hate jumping in the middle of things....

Oh yeah, can't comment about Steamboat, other than what I've been told from some ski-bum friends - killer place, great moguls, good party scene. I actually have been there, but that was when I was 10 or 11, going with my dad while he chaperoning (sp?) a high school trip.

P.S. - what's all this sh$t about you hating snowboarders?!? Bastard.

well, if everyone is going to post lyrics... one of my favorite songs and bands, i'm silly for it. interview was standard, but i'm flaming determined to get this position. enjoy the song:

A lovestruck romeo sings the streets a serenade
Laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
Finds a streetlight steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it?

Juliet says hey it's romeo you nearly gave me a heart attack
He's underneath the window she's singing hey la my boyfriend's back
You shoudn't come around here singing up at people like that
Anyway what you gonna do about it?

Juliet the dice were loaded from the start
And I bet and you exploded in my heart
And I forget I forget the movie song
When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong juliet?

Come up on different streets they both were streets of shame
Both dirty both mean yes and the dream was just the same
And I dream your dream for you and now your dream is real
How can you look at me as I was just another one of your deals?

Well you can fall for chains of silver you can fall for chains of gold
You can fall for pretty strangers and the promises they hold
You promised me everything you promised me thick and thin
Now you just say oh romeo yeah you know I used to have a scene with him

Juliet when we made love you used to cry
You said I love you like the stars above I'll love you till I die
There's a place for us you know the movie song
When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong?

I can't do the talk like the talk on the tv
And I can't do a love song like the way its meant to be
I can't do everything but I'd do anything for you
Can't do anything except be in love with you

And all I do is miss you and the way we used to be
All I do is keep the beat the bad company
All I do is kiss you through the bars of Orion
Julie I'd do the stars with you any time

Juliet when we made love you used to cry
You said I love you like the stars above Ill love you till I die
There's a place for us you know the movie song
When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong?

A lovestruck romeo sings the streets a serenade
Laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
Finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it?

I <3 Dire Straits!!! I bought that album when it first came out, when they constantly played the 'Money For Nothing" video on MTV. LMAO! OLD SCHOOL

Devils Crotch *w00t w00t*

On as many occasions as I had, I would blaze 20 foot airs off that little rock that protruded from the middle of the Horseshoe Bowl. I used to be a somewhat avid skiier. Now I really want to get into snowboarding though.

trancer-x, glad you like dire straits. they're one of my favorite bands. i'm especially crazy about "tunnel of love" mmmm....

arturo, in response to your post: HAHAHA, SUCKERS! you're all suckers in my book because you were awake and i wasn't. hope your enjoyed consciousness.

i love steamboat springs. great party scene, hot guys, there's about 5x more men than women so my friends and i feel pretty wanted when we go out there mister opus, i love snowboarders... they're usually the cutest! actually i snowboard a bit myself, but tend to stick to skiing because when i actually get to a snowy mountain i want to hit it hard and not practice my snowboarding skills on green and blue slopes.

occider, thanks for the maxim address, i'm going to send that asap!

Gotta love the mountain cam!!!

The cam doesn't give you the best angle though. That's a FAST one!

Posted by Trancer-X on Nov-07-2003 19:46:

Here's a better pic.

Look at that dark spot midway up the mountain, to the left side of the pic. That's the bitch we were launching from It was hard to slow down since it was so steep, but then again, who really needs to slow down?

Okay, I'm outta here! I'm packing it up early today since it's too nice outside to be at work!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Heh Breckinridge, I dont snowboard or ski (cos if do I would kill myself and others!) the only reasone im quoting you is because Breckenridge reminds me of the move Cannibal! The Musical!

Anyone heard of it or seen it? its the first movie made by Trey PArker & MAtt Stone. Its about Alfred Packer, the only man convicted of cannibalism in the US. They were on their way to Breckinridge, CO but got caught in a snowstorm. Packer had to eat his friends to stay alive, kinda like the Donner party.

Anyways a great movie and I recommend it if you can find it.

Cheers!

Yea I loved breckinridge, and for the week I was out there, I think I spent two days on that mountain. But then I got tempted back to vail because their terrain park was rediculous with the softest landings you could possibly hope for. Copper Mountain was good with the night skiing. Don't really remember beaver creek all that much. At any rate, I was almost going go to lake tahoe again this year because that has the best scenery anywhere in the US, but that kind of fell through . Oh well, I just bought a pair of Saloman X-Screams ('02 models) and I'm itching to try them out for a pre-warmer at killington in january. And like i said in my appreciation thread, I don't hate snowboarders ... only the sucky ones

Posted by montie on Nov-07-2003 21:51:

this is weird. i had a dream last nite where i was in vail.

the skiing there is great. i've gone there the past 4 christmases.
but not this year unfortunatly

Well, haven't snowboarded in 6 years, so if I got back on, I'd probably be one of the "sucky" ones!

mmmmmm, Tahoe.........

Posted by squirrelly on Nov-07-2003 23:59:

I used to snowboard all the time, when I had enough cash to be flying to the mountains and back all the time. But since for now I am stuck/rooted here in Florida, snowboarding seems but a far away dream....

But, if all goes well, I'll be moving to NY by July, so I'll be able to make the drive and snowboard once again!

Posted by Orbax on Nov-08-2003 00:24:

i live 30 mins away from the mountains MUAHAHAHA been boardin for 9 years, go about 40-50 times a year.
