For all you ALESIS M1-ACTIVE-MK2 owners out there..... I'm looking into buying speaker stands and was considering the: Sanus Steel Foundations® 22-Inch Speaker Stands

http://www.goodguys.com/adtemplate....y=118812&catky=

Anyone here had any experience with Sanus before? What sort of stands do you guys have for your monitors?

Hello all.

Im charging the batteries for my digi cam now, and then i'll post a few piccy's of my setup.

I have:

2 Technics SL1200-M3D's
2 Pioneer CDJ-100S's
1 Alesis Airfx
1 Alesis Airsynth
1 Vestax PCV-275 Mixer
1 Sony MDR-V700 Headphones
1 Chameleon Rack Light (for my mixer)
2 pre-mounted Stanton 890SA cartridges
Enough wires to burn my house down

As for lights, I have a 100 watt strobe light with a controller that enables it to be sound activated (flashes with the beat), an American DJ Electra, an American DJ Y2K Millenium, a cheap fog machine, a red laser scanner (for patterns on the ceiling), 2 16" blacklights, and 2 American DJ Sparkles mounted on the ceiling (awesome effect).

Also have a ton of records... about half my collection can be seen HERE

OK well apparently Yahoo doesn't allow you to link images. And it also wont allow anyone to view the photo album I created. What is a fast and easy (and free) way to upload pictures?

I knew a guy in the dorms last year who had those speakers. They thump pretty hard.

Hmmm, now that you mention it... what would be a cool color to paint my walls...

I was thinking a tannish/mustard color... maybe a Burgundy? Or both?

I wanna stay away from Black through White... I want my room to have some life to it.

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing. Do those walls influence you into playing tracks such as stupid disco, and lolas theme? (I think that shade of green is 70's style right?)

Oh yeah!! that color is screaming 70s alright I’m sure there is a disco ball somewhere in that room not pictured : ) depressing color imo.

Imagine how much nicer it’ll look if it was a nice bight grass green !! or deep blue, or two shades of gray -- sort of to match with the gear just a few personal color choices.

Posted by cryo on Jul-06-2004 20:15:

oh haha, dont worry about the green walls i moved my ass downstairs where the walls are white. that tacky green was picked by my dad

anyways when i borrow my friend's digital ill take pics of my new room and setup

and dont worry guys i wasn't playin any disco or what, ill stick to trance, house, prog

Vlad: i've always been told to stay away from dark colors cause it makes the room look small, BUT i dont really like that advice, it may be true but really pick whatever color you want

Posted by dj chex on Jul-06-2004 20:33:

About ugly green walls, i have em' too. BTW, im gonna move out soon so all my posters and dart board are no longer on my walls.

sorry about the quality of the pics. i don't have a digital camera here so i used my camera phone.

Thanks for the link beats and beeps. My camera is kinda crappy, but pretty decent for only $150! Anywayz... heres my setup:

Again, I have the following:

2 Technics SL1200-M3D's
2 Pioneer CDJ-100S's
1 Alesis Airfx
1 Alesis Airsynth
1 Vestax PCV-275 Mixer
1 Sony MDR-V700 Headphones
1 Chameleon Rack Light (for my mixer)
2 pre-mounted Stanton 890SA cartridges

Turntables, racklight, headphones, mixer, E-Razor's "Mantra"

One of my CD decks, Alesis Airsynth, turntable

Another turntable, the other CD deck, Alesis Airfx

If you guys are interested I could also take a couple pictures of the lights in my room with the fog machine on. Looks pretty wicked!

You might want to take off that cartridge weight. Too much weight on cartridges can be bad for the records and stylus. The 890sa should track well if it's properly set up.

Oh yeah, like your setup.

Posted by cryo on Jul-06-2004 23:32:

nice setup, how do you like your pcv 275? i wish i could upgrade from my pmc170a

Posted by 3xx3r7 on Jul-06-2004 23:50:

Here's mine. Quite happy with it and got it for cheap.

I know a distributor for Stanton in NYC, bought them from him. Got them premounted in the little metal box, so they should be set up right.

The main reason why I got the 890SA's is because they put very little wear on vinyl. Some used tracks I have purchased will skip without the weights on, so I just keep them on. I havent noticed lessening of sound quality on any of my records (yet at least).

Thanks for the advice though, if my records start getting messed up I will know why

I love it! The very reasonable price, large amount of features (kill swithces, effects send/receive, etc.), and layout of the features is what drew me to it. The sound quality on it is excellent and it allows you to expand in the future.

When I first bought all my equipment I got a really crappy mixer than only allowed 2 turntables to be connected to it. I decided to return that and I picked out the PCV-275. I thought I might want to get CD decks in the future so this way I would be able to expand.

Some people say the knobs are too close together but I have never had a problem with that matter. If you have a Guitar Center close to your house go up there and tell them you want to try it out. They will hook up a pair of cd decks or turntables to it for you to try it out with. Guitar Center also has awesome prices on gear!

Hope this helps!

How do you like that alesis synth? Do you find it very usefull? That whole dectecting the movement of your hand thing really intrigues me. Great setup btw.

Posted by DragonsEmerald on Jul-07-2004 00:55:

The only use I get out of my Airsynth is when friends come over drunk and stoned and mess around with it. I never actually use it during a set.

The Airfx unit though is amazing. It produces very nice effects and it is fairly cheap ($150 I believe). Very fun piece of equipment.
