I read once that it's the best selling vodka in Russia, and I also read that the average male life expectancy in Russia is 51, do we need any more proof????

here is my two min review.

had a general admin ticket for sat night. got to the venue around 5ish, no line, got in about 5 mins. sweet!

main floor was already closed off. when sitting in the seating, i thought the sound was terrible. i think i remember last year's to be a little louder or something, but i thought the sound was pretty shitty since we werent able to go down to the floor. oh well. seeing the stadium full is a great sight to see tho!

got to ride several carnival rides cause the lines were super short. very fun.

the small trance stage was not packed every time i went. CL and J00F killed it.

best set of the night was sasha. tho i think he should of played longer or came on later. his early start time was kinda lame. but he f'ing killed it.

saw 5 mins of armin. since i wasnt on the floor, the sound was too low or terrible and his set kinds lacked the energy i was looking for...or maybe im just not into his music.

james z and roger s played some solid sets too.

i have to say, for the majority of the time, in the stadium, musically speaking, the music was pure crap. but then again, they are catering to a more generic audience. oh well.

overall, the party was great and fun and i cant wait for next year.

EDC keeps getting bigger and bigger each year, and IMO it's a disaster waiting to happen. The event is way beyond capacity and the city still lets them get away with it. I'm sure there's $$$$ and tons of it flowing towards the city officials to let this happen. Someone needs to stop this and quick. They should not over sell the events. Unfortunately it will take someone's life or a disaster like it did back in the 90's for someone to end this overselling stuff. The promoters and city officials should also be held accountable for it.

was pretty fortunate to get my hands on a saturday ticket sort of last minute.
i showed up a bit later than i was hoping to - parked at a friends place and walked 20ish minutes to the venue. as i was walking to one of the entrances i heard what i knew must've been james zabiela - and that really got me excited.
making my way to security, passing what i quickly realized was the trance stage, i heard gareth dropping his remix of lonely girl and was instantly hahaha
as soon as i got through i headed over there and totally loved his set - i left 15 min before it ended though because the people i were with really wanted to see benny.
benny just didn't do it for me, kinda killed all of the excitement and anticipation i had going for me so i left his set (and my friends lol) and grabbed a beer.
i'd never seen above & beyond before and i made a point to catch a good deal of their set. it was good, and pretty much what i expected.
gotta say i lovveedd what i saw of J00F. along with gareth, i'd say those were my highlights.
armin was good too i just couldn't get as into it from the bleachers. i was fortunate to be able to get in touch with and meet back up with my friends towards the beginning of his set at least. really wish i coulda got on the field...tried to slip a guard some cash around 9 to let me on but he wouldn't hook it up.
from everything i've heard -- feel stupid for missing sasha. wish i woulda just passed on benny all together.

highlight of the night:

Will.I.Am

who doesn't know sh!t about EDM scene, too much talking, stopped the music a bit too much, and ruined my night by playing Usher's OMG song.

Gareth should've played in placed of him.

LBL, A&B, and AvB met the expectations. Stayed for Aly&Fila for a little bit, Aly was good. Stayed for Simon Patterson for a little bit, I thought he was a little bit flat.

Then we got stuck for 2.5 hours on the parking structure trying to get back home.

Overall it was a good experience to party along with other 200,000 people at EDC.

I don't think I can express how much fun I had at this EDC. Our day was spent with Sean Tyas, Aly & Fila and Gareth Emery at the Neon Garden and then Above & Beyond and AvB at the Kinetic field. All of them delivered solid sets with A&B and AvB being just amazing.

Free time between sets was spent wondering around looking at the art installations, rides etc. Very cool stuff. Performing artists running around and on stage was fun too.

We had VIP and put down a ton of alcohol with no ill effects from whatever that vodka was. Only bad thing was there was no VIP around the Neon Garden like the map showed so we had to walk to the VIP at the Kinetic Field to get our drinks While drinking there, we got the pleasure of being tortured by the crap Dada Life, Afrojack and Will.I.Am were playing. How the fuck were these people on the main stage? Thats why there are 5 stages though. Should always be able to find something more to your liking.

Line wasn't too bad. Took about 30 minutes to get thru VIP security. The crowd was pretty chill this year. No rude, pushy people. No 13 year old half naked girls cracked out of their mind. People seemed to handling themselves for the most part. Not too crowded. Seems like they didn't over sell it. Sasha was comparatively empty compared to MM. When Above & Beyond went on we walked down to the field and all the way up front and it wasn't too packed. Had room to dance and everything.

I think this was possible the best massive/festival I have been to since getting into the EDM scene in '99. The Nocturnal Wonderland out in the desert by Havasu in '02 or '03 would be a close second. I have to say great job Insomniac! Wish it went to 4am though.

Since it ended at 2am, we shot over to hang with Sarah at Avalon where Lee Burridge was playing. Got there and was pleasantly surprised to find Sasha and James Zabiela in the booth with Burridge. Very cool stuff. Took an already great day and stepped it up another notch.

Note to others. NEVER try to sneak into to Avalon (long story but not really intentional) especially when your girlfriend is dressed like a bumble bee lol. The Russian security didn't find it too amusing and the guy from AHP proceeded to lecture me for 10 minutes (and probably rightly so) while we stood in line to buy tickets. Thought they were going to drag me into the basement only to never be seen again.

Spent Sunday at Sarahville by the pool drinking mimosa's all day. Perfect weekend!

Did you go? I didn't find it crowded at all. The grounds were huge and really spread everyone out IMO.

no way they are over capacity... the coliseum holds 90,000 people in the stands for a USC game.... so when you look at the entire venue they had to easily be fine in terms of the legal capacity... which i'm sure you know would be determed by the fire department and those guys will shut down an event at a moments notice if they are worried about it. now obviously the colisuem floor is where everyone wants to be and that does present some capacity issues...

personally i thought it was busy not never was worried about anything...

it did take girls about an hour to go through the vip security check around 630-730pm so that was something that needed some improvement...

And passing in line lol. Were you at Avalon? Thought Michelle said she saw you but neither Sarah or I ran into you.

Wow. This was an amazing experience. I was completely blown away by the production on all of the stages, even the small ones were better than anything i've seen here in SF, and the 2 main stages were utterly mindblowing.

i was stuck with slow ass friends so I got there around 7:30-8:30 each night. I spent most of friday in the stands of the coliseum because we couldn't get onto the floor and saturday checking out the other stages. I wasn't really feeling the mainstage that much musically as the cheesy commercial house stuff is kinda nonsense, but it was really incredible to see so many having fun all at once.

2 complaints though. First of all, the satellite speakers towards the back of the coliseum really mess everything up for anyone sitting in the stands as you end up hearing the kicks from the front and the back separately and it just sounds like a perpetual trainwreck. HORRIBLE. Just get rid of those speakers. There's no way to tune it so it sounds good everywhere, and I'd argue that making it a little quieter for the VIP's is probably worth not ruining the sound for everyone in the stands behind the 50 yard line. Secondly, deadmau5 not using the rest of the mainstage's production was very disappointing. Deadmau5's setup alone is fine for 2-5k person shows but for 100k people you need something bigger, which was there just sitting around mostly unused. I don't care about whatever contracts or agency deals were made or however much work it would have been to pull off. If either party were serious about providing the best possible show for the fans they could have worked something out beforehand to syngergize both setups. Pretty lame IMO.

2nd day I spent most of the time at the other mainstage and really liked actually being able to walk around and party properly. Sasha's set was solid but the crowd wasn't feeling it that much. Fedde on the other hand really ripped that stage a new asshole. He played perfect bigroom music. Booming, dirty techhouse/electro without any SHM diva vocal nonsense. Being in an enormous sea of people raving their faces off to that stuff was pretty fantastic.

Ya I was in that line, but then I found out i needed to go to the Staples center lot to get my EDC tickets, which sucked but whatever.

I did go to the Avalon with a friend I made at EDC, but I was tanked and as soon as we got there she kidnapped me and took me to her house in Newport.

Wow. I've never been to a massive, as I just moved out here from Atlanta a few months ago (only occasional trance DJs there, mostly house and dubstep). I wasn't able to go to EDC because of cost, but after seeing those videos... WOW, I -have- to go next year. That's how trance is meant to be experienced!

I'm a little peeved that The Love Festival LA appears to be mostly house, since the Vegas one had Markus and Armin... I'm hoping Monster Massive books some big trance talent so I can go to my first massive this year. :-)

It looks like EDC was a blast! I'm jealous!

Man, I feel like a missed a whole experience because I was only able to see the mainstage from the bleachers. The lights, the screens, all of that was not viewable as clearly from my vantage point, I should have at least moved over to another one of the sections.

Still, had a blast, I got there when Laidback Luke started up his set and Lil' Jon started yelling at people. His set definitely set a decent tone for the night, then Benassi came on, hearing the Otherside remix for the 50th time this year, boring me until Above & Beyond started their set. From then on, the night was amazing.

Shame they locked the main field so early because it's so full of energy, with and without all the crazy ass people. Being relegated to the stands let's you see how massive the whole endeavor was, seeing the thousands of people in the coliseum and being able to witness all the fireworks go off, yet there's still that yearning to be down where the bigger party is. Sad to say too, that like most people, this will probably be my last EDC. I've witnessed it grow from the 2008 and it is definitely becoming bigger and bigger, but in turn, requires more and more restrictions to run efficiently, and understandably so. The Coliseum is an awesome venue and I hope it gets opened to more events, and hopefully spreads out some of the populace and talent between them. Cheers Insomniac!
