Even though I take the Treos apart 1000x, it's good to have the video running while i'm doing it ... sometimes i get to confident and try to cut corners, some whacked out shit happens and almost fuck up my unit for good.

I have played with the Wind. Bilingual keyboard, so that's no good for me. 6-cells are nearly impossible to get, and the 3-cell models are lithium ion based (my HP is lithium polymer, superior for these applications).

I followed Nokia's own disassembly instructions. When it comes to removing the screen, all it says is basically "Be careful and pray that you don't break it."

The keypad is all fucked up now too. I've taken phones apart before, and I've never, ever seen anything like this. The phone is built like a brick shithouse. So intensely well put-together. Definitely NOT ever meant to be tampered with.

The parts pictured here, taken from the manual, are seriously about HALF of which are actually in the goddamn phone. There's way more inside than this shows.

So, if I have somehow knackered the phone up really badly even after I replace the screen (I really fear I may have done so), I'll be in the market for another. I hate the fact that they haven't gone down in price in over a year. Not even a bit. UGH

Maybe I'll just get a G1 or something equally stupid.

While select market testing has been going on for well over a year, today Canada�s Rogers Wireless officially announced that it has a 3.5G 7.2Mbps HSPA network up and running coast-to-coast. So far the only devices that Rogers sells that are capable of taking advantage of the new speeds are the HTC Touch Diamond and the LG Vu, but these figures will hopefully take a turn for the better in the next few quarters (there are also two data cards by Novatel that can reach speeds of up to 7.2Mpbs). The extra .5G is great to have, but since the upgrade process began there have been some serious problems that have popped up and that refuse to go away. Subscribers in many large markets have complained that since 3.5G went the network has become rather unreliable. Dropped calls have increased, 3G reception has been sketchy and has developed a habit of going down now and then, and a lot of calls are going straight to voicemail for absolutely no reason. There�s no doubt that congestion is playing a major role here, but we�d really have preferred it if Rogers had fortified its 3G network before throwing some serious dollars at a 3.5G upgrade.

I'll believe it when I see it. I just do not see wireless having that kind of fidelity over such a large distance. Hell even ATSC is only 20Mbps, and the range is lost after 10 miles.

I don't care. I love it. Well, I don't love it (since I only decided I wanted it last night). But I like the look of it. I don't like full keyboards, but fear I need one if I want to start emailing on my phone...thus this allows me to hide the keyboard and have a normal phone if I don't want to use it.

Not offered by Rogers though. Cale and I looked through all 11 pages on their website. I want to get a new phone ASAP too b/c I'm at the highest tier I can get to so why waste time spending more money with them when it's not gonna get me anywhere? I'd rather get a new phone/plan and then start building up again

N97 is not out anywhere yet ...

If your at the highest tier, why you wasting your tier on a mid end phone?

All my friends who there at your tier all got the high end phones for free.

Get a BOLD,CURVE(new),iPHONE,N95,HTC DIAMOND or whatever is out there

I can't get the Samsung anyway b/c Rogers doesn't offer it, nor do they offer any phones with that type of keyboard.

I think I'm going for the Curve (if I can find someone that has it, so I can see it) or the Nokia one that Cale mentioned. But am still hesitant. I'd rather go for a lower end phone that I actually like if I don't like the look/feel of the phone.

I know. Cale and I talked about that too. But I'm a big warranty person, and low risk too. So my defense against selling it would be that it wouldn't be under Roger's warranty (which I usually get the extended one b/c I always use it), and that even if I got a warranty on the other phone that I'd have to be dealing with another company (not my preference). Plus, I know you say I could sell it...but I'd always be afraid that I couldn't, regardless if someone says "you definitely can"

IMO I don't need the fastest/sleekest/blah blah blah phone. Call, text, maybe email. That's all I need. Simple.

For some, getting an awesome phone and selling it is the way to go, but not for me. I find it to be more of a pain in the ass than a gain, as I'd rather be doing other things.

Also, that still wouldn't answer my warranty problem (which btw Rogers still has extended warranties. I don't know who the hell you talked to that would have told you they don't. That wouldn't make any sense).
