It was confirmed in a news article that she was there. Wonder how many she rolled that night.

Thanks. I didn't mean to take that many, but the Circuit Grounds and the Kinetic Field setups were pretty impressive IMO and I wanted to have something to remember them. I accidentally had the EDC playlist on private but I think I fixed that now. I've never been to EDC before and it seemed so much bigger than Monster Massive and TAO.

My quick review for Sat -

Good: VIP - Short drink lines (maybe 2 - 3 person wait max). I went in the wrong line (I didn't know there was only 1 VIP entrance) but somehow it went quick and got in about 15 mins. It was weird because even though it was a GA entrance there was a VIP stand right there to get your wristband. Lots of space in the VIP area in the Circuit Grounds and Kinetic Field. I was surprised how much room there was when Sasha was playing. I thought the sound was pretty good at the Circuit Grounds as well. The sound in the Kinetic field was so loud but I don't think it was as clear? I don't know how people without earplugs could survive there. The mic on my camera cut out a couple of times because it got so loud when new tracks were mixed in.
I used to think Sasha was pretty boring when I saw him in the past (Zzzzzasha) but the last 2 times I've seen him, I've really enjoyed his sets. His was the best set for me for sure on Saturday. The stage for Above and Beyond and Armin was so massive! Great setup. I don't think I've seen something of that scale before and it was nice to be able to get down to the field after 11PM.

Bad: KIDS. I know it's a broken record and a given, and I'm all for everyone having fun but geeze, too many kids that can't control their drugs. Maybe I was just annoyed because I was pretty sober but it was hard to even walk on the Kinetic Field without tripping over the sea of puddles. People not even sitting down, totally lying down. I'm surprised more people don't get hurt out there with people accidentally stomping on them. OK rant off.

The only other minor thing was I wasn't sure why they made you go the long way from the Neon Garden -> around the Bass Pod stage -> to the back of the Circuit Grounds. I thought as you were leaving the Neon Garden, that walkway on the right before the food stands started would have been a quick way to get to the front of the Circuit Grounds but I guess it was an entrance to EDC or something? It was a long trek to go from Neon -> Circuit -> Neon -> Circuit -> Kinetic. But in the end maybe it was a good thing since it was good exercise

I'm not sure if I would go again but it seems like if I want to see Armin in LA I don't have many options other than massives. Hopefully he will play at a smaller venue like Markus recently did at Avalon.

got to ride several carnival rides cause the lines were super short. very fun.

the small trance stage was not packed every time i went. CL and J00F killed it.

saw 5 mins of armin. since i wasnt on the floor, the sound was too low or terrible and his set kinds lacked the energy i was looking for...or maybe im just not into his music.

i have to say, for the majority of the time, in the stadium, musically speaking, the music was pure crap. but then again, they are catering to a more generic audience. oh well.

overall, the party was great and fun and i cant wait for next year.

I'm with you man, flew out from the east coast for edc and it was worth it for me although I kinda wish that they would put better trance on in the stadium or on the other main stage. the trance stage was way too small.

chris lawrence was amazing, best set I heard, he caned it. would have liked to see him on the main stage for sure. much better than most of the crap on there.

armin sucked, but thats nothing new. I know promoters try to please a big crowd when they have one, but really? armin? hes so bad.

"The slow-to-build headlining set Friday from the now-massive Deadmau5 was disappointing for some newbies, it's only because they probably lacked the patience to grasp his long-ranging, anticipation-building sonic journey."

lol. deadmau5: purveyor of sonic journeys.

My only complaint that I think has a fix: signs that actually direct you to the stages. At the main main entrance once it finally opens up there should be a massive placard telling you what direction the stages are in. Then once you get to the stage, there should be another sign. I personally did not feel comfortable with the layout until 3 or more hours of walking around.

Posted by chimera66 on Jun-30-2010 00:19:

signs, staff who knew where stuff especially after running out of maps, 21+ wrist bands given alongside vip bracelets and better yet a real vip line once you get to the arena not once you get through those two areas security held people up. once in the vip area all was good. swedish house mafia, dirty south, avicii and sasha had the best sets that i heard.

Looks like the first potential death?

Very sad that a young girl might lose her life all because her parents lack of parenting skills. Even though Insomniac didn't event bother to check IDs, this was billed as a 16+ event, and the girl was underage. Hopefully they get some flack for this.

I have no sympathy whatsoever. Kids that age are smart enough to at least midly know something about drugs.

I remember DARE scared the shit out of me from doing drugs. It worked for a while till I got older hahaha

Wow! That's sad.

RIP

quote:
[Updated 5:50 p.m.: Pat Lynch, who manages the Coliseum, was stunned to learn of the death Tuesday.

Oh, no. Oh, my God, Lynch said. I dont know what to say. Thats just terrible.

When asked how a 15-year-old was able to get into the event when the minimum age for entry was 16, Lynch said he needed to investigate.
"I'm at a loss," Lynch said. "... Sixteen is what the promoter requested, and I just dont know. I've got to find that information."]

OMFG!!! Why is Pat acting stupid, he knows perfectly that they have never enforced the 16+ policy. He needs to also be held liable.

While I was in line by the side of the street

I saw a mom dropping her obviously 13ish daughter dressed in underwear off at the rave...

Posted by indamixx99 on Jun-30-2010 04:29:

I thought this event was advertised as "16+ unless accompanied by an adult". At least thats what i thought I saw when buying from Groovetickets.

Posted by DjWoody on Jun-30-2010 04:35:

Well, what do you know? Now LA City Officials are going to decide the future of raves there.
