such a sad story, what the news/doctrs/etc really need to do is not bad mouth the entire scene like it's a haven for people trying to find legal ways to consume drugs. they should be clear about what she actually took and how much, i doubt that water story. whatever it is was probably illegal so whether she was 15 or 25 a death could have come from taking whatever it was. i hope they find those actually responsible, unfortunately a party weekend ended in tragedy for a family.

Sure, Raves are huge venues to do drugs, but the bottom line is, this was a 16+ event and the girl was 15. The parents need to take some responsibility before they start trying to blame Insomniac or EDC. People need to be more responsible for their own actions, and need to stop trying to blame others for their problems. People get in car accidents all the time right? Yet it doesn't stop us from driving.

There was another article highlighting the dangers or raves, etc. I've heard a range of 250-150 were taken to the hospital. Say 250 got taken to the hospital out of 185,000. Thats a .0012% of attendees. Half of that -.0006%. Negligible in my book and no where near substantial to draw connections or saw its dangerous.

When I'm older I'd allow my kid to go alone once they hit college but have no intention of exposing them to raves any earlier.

I've been reading about the death and fence jumping at EDC and other complaints and unfortunately when you get crowds of that size, whether it be rock festivals or whatever, sad events like that will occur. I hope it doesn't make us a target for the govt and cops again because I was personally proud and quite overwhelmed when I saw the huge crowd at EDC. I thought back to the very first EDC's that I went to and it made proud of how far our scene has come.

Insomniac is playing with fire. I don’t begrudge them for selling out in order to make money. But the issue of underage attendees is a political hot potato. Age restriction should have been enforced and I guarantee you there is going to be political fall out.

Wanna know why the feds don’t go after users? Because when they finally arrest an otherwise law abiding, famous and respected doctor/lawyer/investment banker/professor, the regular voters will get pissed. There is no political constituency to defend the dealers, so they are the primary targets.

If EDC enforces 18+, then if anyone dies, it’s just a young adult - it won’t get the same attention as a teenager. People love puppies, but they don’t care nearly as much about dogs.

EDC should realize the fact that these events are attracting enormous numbers of retarded newbies, and when they die, politicians are there to grandstand. People in the scene know to experiment at home first so they know the effect and not to take things from someone who isn’t knowledgeable and responsible (and they know which good friends are NOT to be trusted when they offer something). Too many newbies following one another and trying things without any information = end of massives.

Pretty soon you’ll have to drive to the desert to attend one of these things when state and local officials decide to cut these events off.

To be honest, I wouldn’t even call EDC a rave anymore. It’s really just an electronic music oriented MUSIC FESTIVAL – Coachella with multiple electronic tents. Lil’ Jon rambling on main stage about beating the f* out of peeps is not my idea of PLUR.

Insomniac has sold out to the mainstream with promoting lil john and will i am. I hope everyone realizes that this was a direct insult to all of those that would like to see the EDM scene stay Edm. Come on, the trance stage was the smallest this year. Next year, you'll see lady gaga up there doing her wacked out performance.

if you take all the commercial bs and keep it 100% trance, chances are you won't run into as many issues.

You could be right, thank you David Guetta, Tiesto, Benny Benassi for bringing in your hip hop crap into this scene. Its like when their popularity starts to fade, their like..hm... I know.. I'll just make a video with one of these guys and people will like me again. whatever. You will see the violence rate increase now at more events, I guarantee that.

Agreed. We should all blame David Guetta. Not only is his music cheesy, but he's dragging down the entire EDM scene. On the one hand, I'm happy that promoters can make more money, and I'd rather hear David Guetta than ur garden variety hip hop at most clubs, but at least let me have my trance. LOL.

They are also on MTV.com, they were on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. Also going to be on a few more major sites, as well as a few artists will be licensing some pictures.

Founder of Insomaniac and Will.i.am went to high school together and used to go to events together. I would say when it came to them, it's more about friendship than anything....not to say there isn't a little sellign out involved still.
