Ya, he was interacting with the crowd somewhat decently before it all happened, and even after he still signed a fair bit. so I don't know, Sasha was much worse!

decently????
he was only shacking hands to people who went to see him

Posted by alec on Apr-21-2003 20:32:

I don't understand what you mean. I thought he did interact with the crowd pretty well. Seems like you're aggreeing. he just needed to warm up

it was pvd-unknown track #7 from the okyo set

and he played it at roxy and it didn't skip at all...

I just hope PVD will come back to Aria again someday

he played at SF and exit because there were no other venues to play at in nyc after twilo closed (roxy was not opened until june 2002).

his return to nyc at SF 3/29/02 was his first nyc appearance since april 13, 2001.

since he did not like SF, he tried exit. he did not like exit, so he tried roxy. roxy fits. it's big enough to hold the crowd he draws, has phazon sound, and overall the best venue in nyc after the closing of twilo.

please get your facts straight before you make accusations like this.

as far as 'narcotic supermarkets', i can't stand the crowd at aria or in montreal in general. they like their drugs WAY too much.

Hm.. Hate disagreeing with you here, but there was a poll on PVD's website which asked which venue should PVD be the resident at. If most people chose SF or Exit, he would've been a resident there. Fortunately most people chose Roxy.

it is a well known fact that paul did post a poll on his website on what venue he should spin at. i think it was pretty obvious what would win.

and YES i think i know that paul thought SF was too small a venue, and exit, he could not connect with the crowd. he liked roxy the best, and was rumored to be looking into a residency there before the poll was even posted.

i know my pvd facts.

I know that Greg did not take anything that night because he had to run a marathon on Monday Not sure about Caryn, but I think I recall her saying that she did not take anything...

I was SOBER. I did not even drink, as you can see here:

I don't do drugs before i run a marathon and if i had, i would not have run a 3:15 time, considering the poor preparation i had anyways.

I looked not well for these reasons:
1. I couldn't dance, for above reason
2. I had 3 hours of sleep the night before
3. my bus was late and we had to hurry to MTL in order to get there on time.

Posted by malek on Apr-22-2003 21:23:

damn you looked so tired I remember Caryn pushing you thru the crowd

Posted by alec on Apr-22-2003 22:15:

OK that PVD track is none of the ones you've mentioned. I had a chance to listen to it and its very rare. Reason being is its by PVD and its also unknown!

can be found in the set
Paul Van Dyk - In The Mix At Sputnik Intensivstation (1-2-2003)
right before insane. 31 min mark!

heh I dont see how those 'facts' refute my accusations. He did spin at those clubs and as Durafei pointed out he was more than willing to spin there again if thats what the people chose. (and i bet he wouldnt care as long as he got his paycheck) And as for aria.. i really dont care what your opinion of the place is. If you think it's in the same category as SF and Exit then all the more for my point. He's not stupid he knows the reputations of those two clubs (and I have no doubt plenty of other's he's played at). In any case it really doesnt even bother me that he played there. Its just that with such strong views I have never heard of him actually DOING anything about it. Wearing a T-shirt saying you are a nice person or that you are pleasant doesnt make you a nice person or a pleasant person.
I dont know if you are pissed because i singled out new york clubs or crticized PVD. Iv just got the feeling lately that pvd cares more for his paycheck than any of his popular 'causes'. Two half assed performances, a hissy fit and a grand total of $80000 here in montreal in the past year havnt helped much either.

I think she didn't dig PVD criticism. I mean its her third time coming to Aria and NOW she complains about the crowd?!?! gimme a break.

NO ONE else complained about the crowd except maybe stating that some people were a bit rude, but thats all.

yeah whatever.

I had to keep my calm. I really had to force myself to be 'relaxed' and to 'not dance'.

And you greeted me like a minute after I entered the club, my mood was rock-bottom at that point, due to lack of sleep etc. I HATE driving.

[edit] I just don't like being accused of doing drugs, when i don't. If i had been, i'd have no problem admitting to that.[/edit]

Sick thursday! Even if PVD's set started a bit slow, he still managed after good 35 minutes to progressed into a nice uplifting and energetic sounds. Preach and Marco G did a very good job! I really enjoyed the night.

That was the best part of the PVD set, the first 45 minutes

Belated review

Geez, aren't I a slow one in regards to this party. Haven't had too much free time since the return.
Anyways, I had a great time in Montreal. Hadn't been there since I think Forza last year. But everything was just as great. And maybe even better since it was PVD spinning. We got there (Ray and I and my clone, the other Margaret) at around 1 o'clock. No line up at the door and no problems like I was sure the poor people at Armin were experiencing back in Toronto. Well, anyways, I walked around a bit, found Taha to say hi. Looked for Durafei and he was nowhere. I thought that he would have his usual bad luck and would make it very late. So anyways, I was enjoying Preach's set even though it was quite dark at the beginning.
At first I thought that PVD was coming on at 2:30 so I was waiting and wating, then I figured that it was at 3:30 so I was waiting and waiting (I swear this happens to me everytime, very stressful). Then I ran into Durafei and I was happy that he made it with everybody. It was nice meeting Ortemy too (you were enjoying yourself). I found it pretty funny that PVD came on at 4:20. I was enjoying the set and I was expecting a great night because of it. Then, I did hear some skips, I was perplexed but I brushed it off. Then I ran into Malek and he broke the bad news to me that PVD was only spinning for 2 hours max. So I tried to enjoy the last songs of the set but I felt sad that it was going to end earlier then I expected. Anyways, I did enjoy myself and when I saw that final PVD wave goodbye, I knew it was done. I was expecting a typical Montreal closing DJ, who cuts the trace pace in half and turns the club back into a dark dungeon but to my surprise this did not happen and Marco G put on a great show.
I got to met a lot of TAs, jenna-rae and mike and other mike, it was awesome meeting you and seriously, I think we should hang out too. Nice seeing Kareem too.

I missed meeting discojoe, since I was so happy that the Sens finished of the series that night too!! And where the hell is DJHappy??

Anyways, cheers to all MTL TAs! See ya in the future!

impossible, I didn't know that PVD was going to spin 2h only. Maybe I said it after he finished his set that he did only a 2h set. I think we misunderstood each other

Anyways, I'm happy you had great times, will you be there on the 13th of June ?
