Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (DJ Tiesto Remix)
The Space Brothers - One More Chance

The lyrics from both of those tracks depress the crap out of me. So what do you think?

id have to say that Andain - Beautiful things is the happiest 'sounding' sound with the most depressing lyrics...its about suicide

Kota - Waiting (12" Vocal Mix)...not necessarily depressing, but an amazing vocal track none the less. It blatantly sounds like a Darren Tate production, or at least I'd be extremely surprised to find that it isn't. In the same vein as DT8 - Destination, but I think I prefer this one.

Anyway, my ultimate depressing vocal track would have to be Art of Trance feat. Caroline Lavelle - Breathe (Dawnseekers Mix). Hopefully no-one else has mentioned it...

Posted by d-jay MyTH on May-07-2004 19:37:

it certainly was mr tate and i think it's one of his best productions so far. i think i prefer the instrumental version thou

I can't believe noone has mentioned:

Brittany - I'm not a girl, not yet a woman (Original Mix)

the poetic potential of that song is just undescribable.

On a more serious note, why are ppl listing fast-paced uplifting trance and labeling it depressing? I guess too many ppl confuse emotional trance w/ depressing trance.

To spice up the current list let me recommend this:

Limp Bizkit - Behind Blue Eyes (Trifactor Blue Room Remix)

this track has everything, lyrics and a mellow beat with an excellent melody, a perfect mood setter even though not exactly the typical trance that's being listed so far.

Uh, something can be fast-paced and still depressing. This is why I don't like using the word "uplifting" to describe a whole genre of music.

Awesome track... but made actually come tears to my eyes more than once...

Icehouse - I don't believe anymore

I'm curious as to why this makes you sad.

Posted by DarkAngel on May-15-2004 23:55:

I have a song that makes me sad, and I do mean REALLY sad. I still love it though.

BT ft. JC Chasez - Force of Gravity (Ferry Corsten bootleg remix)

One reason why it makes me sad is because it's a great song to me and it won't be released.

Another reason (this being the main one) I dedicated it to one of my ex-gfs and a day or two later, she dumped me.

I was fortunate to hear Ferry throw this down live on 5/1/04 @ Space, Miami. I got PWNED when that happened.

Posted by noonboy on May-16-2004 08:51:

Yanou - On & On (Djs @ Work Remix)

You may consider it cheesy, but I've actually enjoyed it since the first moment I heard it. It's just strange how it is good and cheesy at the same time. Anyway, it's a bit depressing.

Posted by Dark Apostle on Jul-27-2004 22:34:

Boss@nova - Stone Cold

BTW sozz for the bump, was using "Search" to find this.

Posted by rdoc on Jul-28-2004 05:49:

Origene - Sanctuary (DJ Irene Mix)

So beautiful... "take this light, hold it high.. feel it shine.."

I have to wonder, why do people dedicate a song to someone after they dump you? Isn't is supposed to be the other way around? And besides, it's not like they are going to listen to the song after they dump you anyways.

Don't worry I do the same shit!

i think that he meant he 'dedicated it to his girlfriend' and she dumped him a few days later.. but i may be wrong.

pEy

Posted by Dark Apostle on Jul-28-2004 12:38:

I always wonder why most people listen to depressing music when they are down, it would be more logical to play the opposit of what we are feeling at such a moment, be we don't, quite odd imo.
