I'm sure she's not thrilled about your attitude either Aaron.

I don't think it's suspicious at all for new female members to declare they are not PP - look how you guys jumped on Mrs. Spice!

And who CARES if she's PP anyways if she's not posting like PP did?

It's no wonder TOTA is a sausage party.

Um, I do think so - how would they KNOW who she is on the SAME DAY they registered?

But she is posting that way, even if she's not PP! All this crap about being the "hottest" and asking where the hot guys are? Yeah, great. The reason it's a "sausage party" is because 100 people try to pick them up, not because they aren't welcoming enough.

Sheesh, quit being weird... what is your personal interest in this person/thread?

I have no "personal interest" in this person - but the truth is, there are only a handful of women on this board and until she offends ME, or makes ME think she's something other than what she claims to be, then I have no reason to get my hate on.

Even if she is suspicious to you, why the big deal? Can't we just live and let live? Why does she strike such a chord with you Aaron? I don't get it.

And she is NOT posting like PP did - PP posted repeatedly, making personal insults towards other members and obviously trying to create drama. I don't see that going on here. -shrug-

I can see why you may think other female posters are PP (if their behavious is a little weird), but unless the poster gets hostile I don't thhink there is a point in trying to do anything. besides, del is always watching closely if anything looks suspicious.

Fine, I apologize if I offended anyone with my suspicions.

However, I will stand by my original sentiment that "where are all the hot boyz" is every bit as irritating as "where da bitchez at". When new male members start stupid threads, they get flamed - but when females do it, we're supposed to welcome them with open arms? No thanks.

agreed on your last point. there should not be a double standard.

too bad there IS a double standard we cant get away from??

i cant wait for the day that guys go to bars and girls come and try to grind with them and the guys give em the 'talk to the hand' or 'sorry, i have a girlfriend'

or when girls start coming up to guys and say can i buy you a drink??
when they're really trying to get you hammered and take you home, fuck the shit out of you, then say see ya later in the morning...

girls you dont know how good you have it sometimes . .

Sure we can, there's a very simple way to get away from it: don't buy them drinks, don't give into their every whim on the miniscule chance that they might be interested in you, don't be willing to screw anything that moves... in short, don't be man-sluts.

Of course, that would require a collective effort from all guys, because all it takes is one suck-up for the whole thing to collapse. So maybe you're right, maybe it is impossible...

I won't lie, if I could get 30 girls to flock around me and start kissing my feet just by batting my eyelashes and saying "I'm bored", I would do it. So I can't really blame the women that do it.

P.S. Thank you Tara.

Aaron, that would only work if men thought with the upstairs head instead of the downstairs one.

Quaint. I pity the men who think like that, but it's a symptom of society, that attitude wasn't around in earlier times.

that attitude has been around forever aaron. it just wasn't as visible.

there will always be guys that are just out for pussy at any cost and there will always be guys want something more. teh same goes for women. it's like anything there is always good w/ bad.

Yes, I suppose you're right, I worded it wrong. What I was meaning to say was that the attitude wasn't accepted as a generalization about men (or women), and for the ones who did think that way, they were still bound by etiquette, morals, and other rules of social conduct.

Now all that's gone to the wind - since apparently it's "okay" for us to be panting dogs these days, it's hardly surprising that it happens and that it gets taken advantage of.

i see what you are saying, but honestly it was just as bad. in fact i think the fcat that it was subversive behaviour made it all teh more titalating (see foucault's history of sexuality).

i don't think viewing it as guys being taken advantage of is entirely fair, most of the time they behave that way b/c they want something. and what about the women that don't egg them on and still get treated like a sex object at a club?

i just wish ppl trated eachother equally and w/ respect. I don't really belive in chivalry myself, just courteousness. I mean, if a guys is driving i would expect that he would unlock my door first, only b/c that is what i do for all my passengers.

and muff2k bought me a shot, i bought him one the next time i saw him at system. it's just reciprocating.

yatta yatta yatta...

phew...reading all this made me feel all weird. i thought i'd get an answer to the actual question of the thread - at least a somewhat intelligent one; even if not a really serious one ... but here we go again, the old and boring discussion about the differences b/w the sexes and their sexual needs and wants/ inhibitions, fears of rejections and what not. bladibladiblaaaa... chrchr chrchr...zzzZZZZZzzzz
get a shrink if you have probs going up to girls. geez. it's not like we're aliens!

anyyyyyways ... 10 pgs is a long read, for a great deal of nothing, with no real content.
edit: sorry tara, no offense to you. i understand what you're saying. the 'no real content' is not aimed at your comments. they are valid. i'm just tired of us girls preaching and expecting and hoping for certain things in a guy ... it's either there or it's not. i give up! ...esp. after the last stunt that u're well aware of. i'm completely disenchanted ... it's my 2 year anniversary beiing single today!!! hahaha! yeaaa!!

let's tilt the convo back to the real question at hand:

huh? huh? let's have some fun here!!! where's the TOTA sense of humour without flaming/ being flamed for every little thing?

~life's too short!

Posted by Skipper on Jan-09-2004 18:31:

Well, neither of us lived during that time so it's all speculation, but my "elders" tell me otherwise. And I know that everyone loves to exaggerate about the "good old days", but even I can see the differences between now and 10 years ago... I'm not really talking about repressed sexuality, I'm talking about things like courtesy and family values... surely one has to admit that something must have changed in order for the divorce rate to go up such a staggering amount - if human relations haven't changed, then human values have.

I really agree with you full-stop here, Tara. I *wish* for that too, but since so many people I meet view courtesy and respect as optional, it's hard to keep it up without eventually getting taken advantage of by someone. I always used to open doors, give up my seat, give up my coat (without putting the sleeve down my pants), buy drinks, and so on, but after months or even years of rarely even getting a "thank you", I started getting tired of it. Of course I still try with some of it, but I think it's more limited to close friends now, since I just don't trust strangers.

Silke, I don't think this thread was ever about "fears of rejections", "probs going up to girls", or anything like that - if that's the meaning you inferred, then it sounds like you just skimmed over this thread without really listening to anyone.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be overly serious and I'm not flaming either - I'm just having a discussion because it turned out to be a somewhat interesting conversation... no?

well aaron, finding ppl who are genuine and courteous is rare. you just have to behave the way in which you like to be treated and like will attract like (i don't necessarily mean relationships- friendships as well). you seem really disenchanted w/ people. i wish you would bea little more positive

in the good old days I do think it was mostly a show and not genuine. being polite is important but simple gestures must be followed w/ an actual conviction as to how ppl shoiuld be treated. I mean, it's nice if a man opens my door for me, but if he expects for me to sumbit to him in many ways (as old fashioned gender roles dictate) then that goes against my understanding of respect and courtesy. i agree w/ some past values but not all. as i've mentioned before a genuine mutual repect among humans is what i would like to see.

no flames no nonsense.. the simple truth is.. good guys, that are smart, and relatively good looking are everywhere... I know countless guys who are awsome dudes who are still single and such. For the life of me I can't understand why!

I gotta start a matchmaker service!

Thanks for mentioning me! I wish I was arount to hear all the stories. Sounds like a pretty interesting gal! Anyway I'd have to say that all the good looking guys are hiding away in the underground clubs in the city. I'm serious! Jungle guys are to die for.
