hehehehe yeah anything with a touch of melody and a beat that is really catchy and friendly on the ear, definitely has me.
Back to the topic, but sorry to attack anyone, I just think that it is morally incorrect (because I am a man of morals you see
) to say come here because of this and come here because of that. We are a community, and should support each other in the best possible way for our scene/music/genre to get the proper recognition it deserves here in the harbour city of Sydney.

i know that it is difficult for promoters to be supportive of each other when both events are on the same night considering they are trying to attract a very similar audience. however i think they should focus on pushing what differentiates their event to the other to draw crowds rather than going on about how much better their event will be compared to the other.

"sticking the knife in"... very melodramatic.
And Im only on my third Bourbon & Coke
I regret my reply to Joshvas post appearing personal. It was not my intention to be offensive. I guess Im guilty of an occasional kneejerk but in this case I considered his statement soaring a hell of a lot higher at ARQ than if you were at Icebox as unwarranted criticism of the young DJs who will be playing at the Icebox. As a long-term listener to the Rush program Ive been impressed by their efforts to raise the profile of the Sydney trance scene over the last three years and also the fact that they are actively developing new talent. As for Jumping Jack, Diggs n Morro, Joshua van Aalst, I have seen them all spin and it goes without saying that they are an extremely talented lineup whose positive contribution to the scene is unquestionable. And I may be accused of bias here but in my opinion Diggs n Morro ruuuuulezzzz!!!!!!!! Some memorable and awesome nights at GAS will remain with me forever. Legends!
But having said that I dont think I will offend anybody by saying that the night at ARQ is just another gig as opposed to the Icebox event as being something very special the big supporter of the Sydney scene coming out for their first live event. I believe we should get behind this event and really support our young talent.
Sure the venue is not the best but if we all decided that we only wanted to drive Ferarris then we would do a lot of walking. In my opinion its all about the music not how the mirrorballs are moving. And you can be confident that the organisation will be spot on as the promoter Tom Brown runs the very successful Slinky events in Ibiza each year.
Oh yeah, I dont mind a drink or three and early indications are that my mothballed wallet will see me out nicely at Icebox as opposed the gold lined one I assume will be required at ARQ.
Not intending to offend just offering a different slant.
josh - i think you are taking it a bit personally. the nights clash, get over it. you have put on some great trance nights recently and i am fully suportive of what you are doing (hell, im more likely to go to arq this friday than rush anyway) but it has to be said that you are completely out of line with recent comments and trying to get ppl to side with your night over rush is totally unncecessary. im sure people have the intellectual capacity to make up their own minds on this issue. perhaps you should show some more respect to other people who are trying just as hard as you to improve sydney's uplifting trance scene, rather than rallying against them.

| Originally posted by Joshva Hi I saw that a fair few people are tossing up between coming to this event and Rush. So i thought i'd chip in my two cents: 1) ARQ is an amazing venue and it is not every day we have the chance to hear Ultra uplifting trance music in a venue like that. When comparing ARQ to Icebox, ARQ eats Icebox alive. ARQ has a massive arena with around 30 moving head lights on individual hydraulics, a dual full colour oracle laser and 2 high powered green lasers, it also has numerous special effects and centre piece lights. Operated by one of Australia's best lighting operators (as said by Elliot - Ellwa Home's lighting operator). This is topped off with a 5 way custom built JBL sound system. Icebox on the other hand has 6 moving mirror lights and one really old not very powerful laser. It also has a 3 way off the rack sound system. 2) I have noticed that the music of the two nights has been compared and people are saying Rush has Progressive, Tech and Trance and A Night Of Trance only Uplifting and Euphoric Trance. Yes that is true but i'm sure that when the ANOT DJ's Jumping Jack, Diggs n Morro, Joshua van Aalst e.t.c. drop those massive uplifting and euphoric trance tracks you will be soaring a hell of a lot higher at ARQ than if you were at Icebox. 3) Not only this but normally as you know ARQ is a gay and lesbian venue. This is the first time the club has really been opened for a straight event. This is your chance to see what everyone has been raving about. You can go to Icebox almost any night Halycon has been there, A Night Of Trance has been there and now Rush. It is a venue that has often been used for Trance. |

| Originally posted by Hyperdimension Basically, Rush puts on their event even after knowing Josh's event is on the same night... and Josh is meant to continue going about his business without a worry in the world? I'd be freaking out in desperation (actually already did on trancetribe!). Did the Rush crew have any respect for Josh? It can be difficult not to be emotional in this situation, especially for those of us who have a passion for the scene... even more difficult, I presume, for those who have a major personal financial stake. |
