Awesome album. Best track is Lostep - 'Burma'. I also love what sasha's done with Petter - 'these days', and when the vocals of U.N.K.L.E - 'What are you to me' drop over 'these days' I go nuts.

Sasha has done what PVD tried to do with politics of dancing. I liked politics of dancing but it was a bit monotonous with the whole PVD off beat bassline thing. Involver is done properly, every track sounding different.

come on wales!

Saw Sasha @ Virgin Mega Store, got a signed CD and a pic with him. Reveiewed the CD later that night, recognized a few tunes he spun at virgin. Overall I like it but it isnt my usual taste / style. Some songs I just skip. I give it 5 out of 10.

It's a shame they didn't include Cirque du Soleil's 'Pokinoi' on this cd as was originally planned. It's such a brilliant remix from Sasha... would have made a great closing track imo...

On a side note, nice Art of Noise sample by proxy of Prodigy's "Firstarter" near the end...

Drunk Wow....

Finally got my copy of Involver in. I got the special edition c.d. but frickin' Amazon gyped me on the pillow case. But that's alright. Just listened to Grand National-Talk Almongst Yourselves. Good God, what a track. I love this kind of music. Long live Prog. Will come back and type a review after listening to the rest of this.

I got Involver the other day and i was blown away by it. I only got the records so only 4 songs, but imma go get the cd soon. Can't wait to listen to the rest. GREAT STUFF!

Maybe it will grow on me but at this point after listening through Involver once, I'm just kind of like its ok... I mean the man is super talented but his style of music just doesn't do it for me. To each his own...

Personally, I think Involver is Sasha's best mix album since GU 013.

Like others have said, it borrows some of his sound from airdrawndagger, yet manages to keep it's own identity and mix things up enough to keep it going.

Sasha is definitely moving in yet another direction though, more guitars in this album than I've heard in a prog comp in a long time.

Great stuff though, any Sasha fan should be pleased with it, and if you don't like prog, then why would you bother forking over the money for it?

Posted by justin on Jul-03-2004 03:28:

well...I used to be a Sasha fan. I mean, its good music if you like really slow prog, for lack of a better description. I'll trade the old Sasha sound in any day for this new one. No offence.

Felix Da Housecat is PROG!?! LOL... j/k I know what you mean, but in context, it's funny, and goes to show how masterful Sasha is at incorporating what is in fact a diverse variety of tracks into a unified whole.

I call this:

SASHA COE-HESION

Posted by CortexBomb on Jul-03-2004 14:36:

Well, that track has been mentioned as the 'throw-in' to the disk, and generally out of place, but I think Sasha tweaked it enough to not only:

a) Be a damn good track

but

b) To actually go along with the other stuff pretty well.

Your mileage may vary of course...

Heh, I've been listening to this cd for months now and I actually went through and read this entire thread. This is the best cd I've bought all year, hands down. Smile and Dorset Perception are my favorite tracks. This is one of those albums I can listen to all the way through, and I don't need to be in a specific mood to choose this to put into my cd player.

anyone have the 2cd edition? i'm thinking of buying it, but am unsure atm as i don't know if it's mixed or not and if not are the tracks full or edited? also i haven't heard all those tunes on the 2nd cd so i'd need to listen to it before i buy anyway. if it's full mixes it's too bad smile isn't on it as it's by far my fav track off involver.

And behind the man comes the greatness of ABLETON LIVE 4, HANDS DOWN TO THIS AMAZING SOFTWARE!

Posted by Geoff on Nov-22-2004 19:14:

love this album, i bought the 2xCD special edition with the remix cd. I haven't listened to the remix cd yet, i'm still stuck on the regular mix cd, can't get enough of it even tho i've been listening to it for months . i love burma the most, then it's proly talk amongst urselves and then dorset

yea my fav album of the year

oh and the 2nd cd is not mixed

one little complaint, wtf is up with the packaging for the special edition, crappy paper case, i can't even get the cds back in. just gimme a regular plastic case... doesn't really matter much tho anyway

i believe the Gus Gus track was edited and cut down to ~5 mins or so, which i think is really just butchering it.
i read that somewhere, though. don't own the album myself, so you might want to ask around, or if someone else here could confirm it.

Unkle - In A State. Oh, I like it.

This CD is just worth every fuking cents! The CD mix itself, the tracks, the design, the package = magical. God, love this.

What do the three versions look like?

The Regular, Limited and Special. I know the special has an extra disk, but whats the difference in the packaging of the three? The regular and the limited have one disk only, what does the limited have that the regular doesnt?

THanks if you know

Posted by Geoff on Dec-21-2004 02:44:

the limited and special have extra retarded packaging, my friend has the limited edition with the weird shaped plastic case thing and he told me not to buy that version cuz it's not worth it. i have the 2xCD special edition and it came with one of those paper cases and it just has two slits in the cardboard where the cd's slide in, I can't even get the cds back into the slots without bending the hell out of the cardboard so i just didn't put them back in... great packaging... just give me a freakin regular plastic case next time...

i haven't even listened to the extra cd yet, maybe i shoulda just got the regular version with the regular case...
