If you don't want to install all the gnome stuff it requires, there are a few alternatives, 'aterm' and 'konsole' (KDE terminal).

I remeber finishing setting up gentoo, especially the part when you do 'etc-update'. It wanted to update 100+ config files, and I couldn't be bothered to type 'y' for each file, so I took the '-5' option (overwrite files without asking).
Instead of typing 'y' the next 10 minutes, I spent ~2 hours editing config files so I finally could start X

yeah that blows, making config files from scratch absolutely sucks.

do you mix/edit with linux audio tools? what do you use?

Nope, nowadays I just listen to music. I somehow got more into programming/graphics.

But do you know of any good audio tools on linux? They can come very handy now and then. And considering most of them only are one 'emerge' away, I might just play around with them a while

i found one called mixxx off sf thats pretty decent for mixing tracks. i don't like how its totally mouse based but its kinda cool.

Audacity and Aumix are decent
i haven't got a chance to check out
TerminatorX http://linux.tucows.com/preview/10003.html but i'm planning to.

And of course im sure there are a TON of xmms plugins to do alot of similiar stuff

I think he got the picture from deviantart.com > wallpaper > 3d dimensional.. I'm not sure about the name, if I remember correctly, it is something like "sonicvibe" I had it some time ago, but clumsy me deleted it Is that picture "inverted" or something?

Someone know of a good site to store pictures, like photobucket? (they wont take new costumers due to balblalb)

Orate.

I can't remember where I got it from, I don't think it was devientart (tho it could've been one of theirs posted elsewhere). It was probably customize.org.

And yeah, I did a negative of the image and then colorised it a bit, coz I like a dark background. The pic was called NoiseSoundandMusic.
