Voodoo & Serano - Overload (Instrumental Mix).Simply people call it cheesy cause it's from V&S

Freezer - I Just Follow/Surrounded
brings back memories from 99' when i used to bump "World Of Dream & Trance" which features the two orig. mixes. I was thus compelled to buy the vinyl of late on account of nostalgia, even though i'd probly never include the tracks in a set...
btw, it's not remotely close to being one of my favs. but i like it nonetheless...
Why do we even have this thread? Almost all trance is cheese.

Haha, I love the way people refuse to accept that stuff like Ian van Dahl - Castles In The Sky and DJ Sammy - Heaven and stuff by ATB is trance. It is trance.
Look at Castles In The Sky for example, typical supersaw riff, very simple bassline, 4-floor, break-build formula. Absolutely 100% trance. Just because it's ridiculously cheesy doesn't mean it doesn't fit into the same genre - it's trance, just a very very low, poor form of it.
Same goes for Heaven. ATB's stuff is a bit different, but I don't think he's actually a bad producer, certainly better than Sammy and IvD.

What is there to prove? We're talking about the most commercial genre of EDM here (excluding hiphop for now...
).
I think most dance covers of mainstream pop songs are cheesy dance, not trance. DJ Sammy - Heaven is dance. It just got included in a bunch of trance compilations, so everyone else assumes it's trance.
And what about teh house? So much Nu-NGR inspired stuff is just soooo cheesy... It just can't be compared to Trance in cheesy terms.
However, JUNGLE remains the genre with the most integrity
BTW mystery, auranaut is actually pretty right on...
First, we have to realize that cheese can be applied on both levels, the production of a song and the lyrics. Trite lyrics are usually considered "cheese", but what exactly are "intelligent" lyrics? What can peole really sing about? And moreover, if a song has such supposedly intellectual lyrics that can't be grasped, it's just as easily discounted as nonsensical. And nobody in their right minds want to listen to something that has no melody (which means a lot of people have terrible taste)
Music is meant to be enjoyed, and unfortunately even what can be considered "non-cheesy" still maintains a degree of it. This can all deteriorate into semantics of course, but I think we understand eachother.
so just because you've been programmed to think that only music with melody is good, those who listen to music without melody have no taste. well, hello schranznoise.

Listen, if you want to listen to a tractor, grinding rocks or construction work because you think it sounds good, go ahead. I think it works the other way around, you have to be programmed to think that noise sounds good, because I have yet to meet someone who starts out just enjoying abrasive sound.
so i guess you're not going to explain why someone who likes tough abraisive minmally melodic music has no taste.
