Parents, it's not that fuckin' hard to manage a tween's spending. Just don't give them money! An allowance isn't going to pay for that high-fashion shit that those smut stores put out. The problem is, parents are too fucking lazy to actually shop with their kids, they just hand them a wad of cash and send them to the mall.

We've come a long way from the days of spankings... now parents are afraid to say no to their kids, instead of the other way around. And if your 10-year-old manages to get her hands on something that is totally age-inappropriate... take it away from her! How hard is that?

i would really like to know how many of us on TOTA for example got allowances when we were kids and if so, was it more than, oh i dunno, 10 bucsk a week?

$5/week until i was 16.. then i got cut off, haha

$2.50 went to my pocket
$2.50 went to the bank

The way people deal with bratty kids these days is baffling...

mmmm, except for those rage blackouts i suffer from -- but those only last a few minutes, and i haven't injured anyone seriously since that time i threw grannie down the stairs for sending me on a time out...

other then that, i turned out fine...

Yeah, except then those social workers come to the door and try to take your kids away and if they succeed it'll fuck them up worse than anything you could do as a parent.

I say whoop 'em anyway, fight the social workers if you have to... keep a gun in your drawer and fire it into the air if they start givin' you lip.

its sad how much control the government has over us. They even tell us how to raise our kids. If the anti spanking bill before the house passes im seriously leaving the country. Why? Because i dont want to live in a country without discipline for one. And second i wont have the state telling me how to discipline my kids if i choose to have any.

i do get money when i ask for some but only if my parents want to give it to me. if they think its a waste, then they wont give anything.

you can do all the studies you want, and call children's aid over and over... but there is NO DENYING the fact that the decline in beating is directly correlated with the increase of disrespectful hoodlums...

I don't agree with the spanking ban, but I don't think it's really necessary for discipline. So far as I can remember, my parents have hit me maybe once. I turned out alright.

I got $5 per day till I turned 17 and got a job. I've been working ever since.

We (my brother and i) had to fuckn work for ours, and it was a low-wage indeed... until we were around 13 or 14, we got paid $0.25/0.50 (yes, 25/50 cents) a job.

like, make ur bed, .25, empty the dishwasher, .50, make ur lunch for school, .25, dust ur bedroom, .50, vacuum ur bedroom, .50.... etc. etc.

on a good week if i got between 5$-10$ i was happy

but once 14 hit, no more money, if you want money, you have to go out and get a job... which i did, paper route.... and then after a year or two of that i eventually got a new job that paid more (washing dishes at restaurants, fastfood joints, etc.)

I think the system was very fair... i wasnt complaining

I am 100% in agreement with this thread.

I brought up similar issues in a COR thread a few months ago, after I was contacted by a 14 year old Ontario girl on MSN by the name of "Slut Kitten"

it's true that some people don't need it... my GF never got beats, and this is an issue that we don't agree on...

but are you going to take that risk? not beat and hope that your child is part of the 0.1% of the population that learns without beating? i say parents should beat first, then stop if necessary... cause once your kid hits 5 and you realize he's a total brat, its too late... you can't start beating at that point.

The girls now are crazy... our society and it's ppl become more whacked out as time goes on.
