in basketball news, there are reports utah and the la lakers are going for a trade

lakers get:
carlos boozer

utah gets:
vlade divac
caron butler
devean george

lamar odom's name is being thrown in the mix .. this is very interesting in my opinion .. utah is thinking about next year .. the lakers in getting boozer are thinking about now, by getting boozer really helps in their lack of offensive rebounding ..

How is it that no one has managed to pry Elton Brand out of Clipper land...i love that guys overall game and toughness...he is so undervalued.
So who are going to be the second half surprise team this year that will make a strong push near the end? At the moment i am thinking the Celtics are going to make a strong run up the seedings

if i was given the choice to pick the 6 competitors for the 3-point contest, it would be :

voshon lenard (returning champ)
peja stojakovic (champ 2 years)
ray allen (champ 2001)

dirk nowitzki
mike miller
reggie miller (the skilled sensai master of 3's compteting against the new school .. who's going to win ?? )

just my opinion

Reggie Miller yeah you could put him in there cuz he was the best .. i wouldnt put dirk because hes not that type of player that can catch shoot in a 3 point shoot out (example - Antoine Walker) and for mike miller i don't know i would give it to damon jones this year because he made a lot and has a good shooting average

Posted by Partibrejker on Feb-23-2005 22:31:

all those trades are not even true .. they are just rumors .. one day they had lamar for peja and bobby next one was lamar for boozer then it was boozer for divac and others now its chris webber to knicks and then there is payton for spre or casell then there is ray allen and redd traded ... i guess we will know by thursday after the deadline

ok so the Miami Herald is trying to scare the shit out of Heat fans by saying earlier today that shaq was gone for the year.Even though yesterday they said it wasnt that bad . Well we still dont know for sure whats up with shaq, but if he 's gone this team...well you know...Unless we get a ZO kind of player from years past......yea thats pushing it
We almost beat the Pacers in OT tonight by the way without Shaq.

Surprisingly, Reggie Miller never won a 3 point contest

I am not sure if the trade is going to go thru or even if it but stephen a smith said chris webber got traded to sixers for kenny thomas, corliss williamson and some other dude ... wow as a long time kings fan ever since peja and divac came to play for them i am gonna have to say what the fuck is wrong with them ... i know they trying to cut some salery but damn chris webber and matt barnes for those dudes .. no way .. i hope peja leaves 2 ... it just isnt like it was 3 years ago with the rivarly againts lakers ... christie already left and so did vlade so with webber leaving only player other then bibby is with the team that almost made it to nba finals

Wooo Sixers got Webber! Was hoping they'd sign Ray Allen in the offseason, but this will do as well. Being a Michigan fan, and long-time Webber fan, Billy King finally did something right.

yep and once again kings didn't

:-D

this is one of the reasons why i love the nba .. you never know what to expect from the teams and players .. it's the trade like this that makes you go .. "wow .. what a trade .. i never saw that coming" ..

but now phily has korver, jackson, webber, and iverson at the start, they can go a long way now .. who knew one trade by phily could shift the polarity of the eastern conference giants .. as long as webber puts up some double doubles, korver makes at least 3 3's, and iverson puts up 25-30 a night, a very tough team to beat .. however, williamson and skinner were great for the sixers off the bench .. provided some defense ..

as for sacramento .. .. that's all i have to say .. i don't think they are thinking about the playoffs this year .. if you traded 3 of your returning starting 5 in the past year, you know that they are thinking about next year, not this year ..

now i am awaiting for the hometown hornets to take baron davis and jamal mashburn from us .. who wants them ????

Posted by Omegasox on Feb-24-2005 22:02:

Well at least you got rid of one of them with Mashburn going to Philly, lol. Billy King is finally doing something right, I'm still in shock.

What did Gary Payton ever do to anybody to deserve getting sent to the Hawks....Damn. The celtics traded to get Antoine Walker back, what the hell....

i don't know i am suprised my self hawks even took that trade .. i think they should not even be a team they are just gay ass teams and sure they had before good hawks team but their team really sucks for the last 5 years ... i am kinda happy antoine is back ... but i liked payton hes a good player

STILL mad at Kings for doing such a bad job ... i hope peja leaves

Baron Davis is a Golden State warrior now, hope you like Speedy Claxton

thats strange how minnesota didnt pull any trades and they r doing so bad with spre and cassell

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Feb-24-2005 23:24:

other than garnett and maybe sczerbiak ,are any of those clowns really tradeable? Getting traded won't help Spreewell feed his kids

maybe Mchale thinks he can turn this team around himself now that he's the coach
way to many trades today, one that jumps out of me is the Nazr Mohammed trade, him and Tim Duncan together now makes the Spurs even tougher.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Feb-25-2005 04:02:

minnesota didnt involve with any trades, because of probably these two issues :

1- no one wants to deal with spreewell, cassell, eddie griffin, or kandi .. those were probably the guys minnesota wanted to trade, and no one wanted them
2- kevin mchale, the current head coach and gm of the squad, didn't want to mess with team chemistry heading into the playoffs .. he knows this team came close last year, so he just needs to bring the team chemistry back into fire before the playoffs start .. only if they do make the playoffs .. hmmm.. ..

only one expression is on my face after today .. .. and another ..

click here for all the trades that happened the past two days ..

it's true .. i knew the hornets were going to dump mashburn and davis ... i was also going to mention that lazy bum rogers .. good luck with this guy philadelphia .. you may have high hopes for him when you see him drop 4 3 pointers, and a really good offensive game one day .. then the next few days, he's nothing but a lazy bum .. plays no defense .. doesnt know what the word 'team philosophy' means .. never sticks his guy .. always gets winded .. out of shape bum .. hahhahaha ...

i like speedy claxton .. brings a lot of heart to this squad .. if the hornets plan to keep claxton, and trade glenn robinson, like we traded jim jackson to phoenix, things will go allright for us hornets .. we are the trade magnets down here .. here's what we traded over the season when it started ..

shipped : darrell armstrong, jim jackson, jamal mashburn, baron davis, rodney rogers, david wesley

got : dan dickau, casey jacobson, bostjan nachbar, [some other guy from phoenix .. i forgot his name .. he was phoenix's first round pick last year .. something like that] ..

so far so good .. the hornets are dumping the high priced players

.. i just said the same thing .. we all know what mchale is thinking .. ..

should there be a committee to look into the san antonio trade ? .. should it be unfair that the best team in the nba have gone from the best in the nba to the bestest in the nba (cant go furthur than best, so it's bestest .. san antonio has just invented that word after the trade ) .. come on! .. malik rose is a good basketball player, but nazr mohammed ?!?!? ... what was isiah thomas thinking ??? now you got horry, duncan, nestorvic, and mohammad crashing the boards .. who can beat this team now ?? the closest teams to them right now are dallas, phoenix, and seattle, and they can't match up with this big 4 ..

hands down .. because of this trade, san antonio gets an automatic ticket to the finals .. no contest .. sacramento would have made a push, but now that webber's gone, forget it .. minnesota could make a run, depending on how they fare in march .. bad march = bad april, and possibly no may ...

[edit]

forgot to mention that the atlantic division has done one of the sneakiest things i have ever seen .. first new jersey gets vince carer .. then philly gets chris webber .. now boston gets antoine walker .. .. they turned this division from a bunch of sub 500 teams to a bunch of hopefuls ready to knock off indiana, miami, and detroit .. i shouldnt speak too soon, but with these trades, they look like they want to compete with these eastern powerhouses .. we will see in april/may ..

Posted by Partibrejker on Feb-25-2005 22:38:

kings for some reason have a better record with out c webb / their record this year and last year with webber is 38-31 and get this with out him 57-11 or something like ...

Posted by drufrumvancity on Feb-26-2005 00:42:

Woooooo! go Knicks its championship time...... .... and by championship i mean bottom of the Atlantic division.....why oh why did we not pick up Webber!? a strong front court player is available and we pick up Malik Rose.. horrible trade deadline

Don't feel to bad, I am from Atlanta, the only positive thing we have going for us this season is that we were supposed to suck, so now that we do it doesn't hurt so bad
