Way too in touch with it.
# grooms and buffs his head and body, which he drapes in fashionable clothing both at work or before hitting an evening hotspot;
Hair yes. Clothing, somewhat. "Evening Hotspot" Hell no.
# has discretionary income to stay up to date with the latest hairstyles, the newest threads, and the right shaped shoes;
Not really.
# confuses some guys when it comes to his sexuality;
People at school call me "gay" and "fag" often. Girls think I'm gay sometimes, that should be good enough.
# makes these same guys jealous of his success with the ladies -- for many metros, to interact with women is to flirt;
No way, seeming gay in my school does not go over well. All the girls want the stupid guys with cars, and skateboards.
# impresses the women who enjoy his company with the details that make the man;
* his appreciation for literature, cinema, or other arts
Literature yes. Cinema no. Other arts, yes (music)
* his flair for cooking
Yeah I've been taking Culinary Arts for years...I can outcook any women who comes my way :P
* his savoir faire in choosing the perfect wine and music
Music yes, I cant buy wine...
* his eye for interior design
To an extent. Everything I like is functional though.
# is a city boy or, if living a commute away from downtown, is still urbane, if not rightly urban;
Yes
# enjoys reading men's magazines...
Not many of them. Most of them have little substance.
I nominate Cuzo as the metrosexual of Toronto. He frequently confuses gay men, is highly coiffed and stylishly dressed. He dances like a mo fo.
Here's to you, Cuzo!

This whole thread cracks me up....
I would probably be considered a "Metro"...I use product in my hair, do go shopping quite a bit (I am a total shoe-whore) and care about what I look like....
BUT, it is not the top priority in my life....My "Metro-ness" is tempered by my passion for technology-therefore geekiness, I do work on cars (change my own brakes, oil and do regular maintenance on my car) and I do NOT have a cleanliness fetish...my apt is testament to that!
I do think that someone should be who they are, regardless of any 'label' that might be imposed upon them....
Caring about one's appearance is one thing....Obsessing about it is something completely different.
For example: I was at a Poker Tournament that a buddy from work was having...there was about 30 people there...a lot of people from work and their spouses mostly....I was wearing a pair of jeans (worn) and a untucked blue dress shirt....not 'metro' at all, but nice and comfy and causal....I ended up winning the tournament and was going downtown to see a show (I had prepared for this by bringing a second shirt to the tournament and left it in my car).....I brought it in, changed, put some 'product' in my hair and came out of the bathroom, ready to hit the club...LOL...I got a LOT of looks from wives of guys I work with, and ended up getting a few emails the next week 'suggesting' that I give their 'single' friends a call...ROFL
The point is, while I was playing in the tourney, I was casual and really didn't worry or bother about whether my shoes matched my outfit and all that....But did put a little effort into looking better when I was going out...
Different attitudes for different situations...
Be who you are, be true to yourself, care about what you want to care about, be good to others...
Spank, you are more of a ladie's man than a metro man. And you look like Ferris Bueller. Who I would consider Metro.
And I have a single friend in Windsor to hook you up with. LOL!

When Mariah Carey came out with her first album I would tease Sandi that she skipped town to make an album. She's very attractive, with long, curly hair. I do have a pic... pm me your email and I'll send it to you. She does photography exhibits in Detroit all the time! She's a smart cookie and well travelled. And she's my Duran Duran ticket holder. This'll be the second time we've seen them together. I've known her for 16 years. She comes highly recommended (and is very well behaved, unlike myself, who is a nutbar).
