i'm in. this sounds fun, and it's something i've been trying to get myself to do. one catch tho... where to start? someone help me get some sort of workout regimen going, as i don't know how to go about this. never really "wroked out" other than playing sports.

i want definition. weight loss is not really a concern for me, other than some gut reduction.

EDIT: i'll repost this in the workout thread, to get myself a rotuine.

the last WO routine i made in WO thread should do you fine Inertia. the key is finding the weights that make that routine challenging

Its really important to build some muscle mass first.

You often see people in the gym that put in lots of time on the cross trainer, walker or bike and not really lose that much weight, or get the definition they desire.

You want to break down your body into these groups:

Biceps (Front side of the top of your arm)
Triceps (Back side of the top of your arm)
Chest
Legs
Back

Dependent on how often you want to train is which you do when.

i did a buttload of pushups one day in boot camp, and my tendons hurt so bad that i had to stand with my arms crossed across my chest because i couldnt fully extend them or fully bend them

Posting them might give you some motivation to actually lose some of that weight or to get some lbs on yah. Do whatever it takes to make yourself actually start on this thing.

If you have ANY QUESTIONS regarding a diet, a workout plan, or what the exercises are PLEASE post in Workin Out thread Part II or PM!

also: www.exrx.net has some great info. Go through all of their muscle groups and exercises so you can know what we are talking about!

Let the games begin!

march 1, 2005

weight: 187

chest: 39 1/2
left arm: 15 1/8
right arm: 14 3/4
left forearm: 12
right forearm: 11 5/8
waist: 36
left leg: 24 1/2
right leg: 24 7/8
left calf: 14 3/4
right calf: 15

bleh!!!! ...like i said orbax...taking steps back

anyway, i took some pics and i'm gonna post them at the end of the contest... (haven't got my body fat test yet)

my goals for this thing are...

1. get down to at least 10% body fat (i would like to also gain some muscle weight so i don't know how much lower than that i'll go)
2. even out my stupid measurements kinda pissed they got uneven this past month
3. maintain my diet which basically consists of protein shake and grapenutes 6 times a day (just like good ol' high school haha )
4. gain some muscle mass back hopefully finishing with a weight somewhere close to what i'm at now...ideally 195-200 (probably not gonna happen) but i'm gonna shoot for that...

strategies for achieving these:

well i'm planning on working out twice a day. the morning routine is gonna be focused on putting up the weight. i want to really push myself to increase weight as often as possible still keeping good form so that i'll get those muscle gains i want. the second workout in the evening is gonna be a little more relaxed as i'm gonna do a lower weight higher rep workout...really go for the deep burn. i figure this will help definition and also be a chance for me to workout those inequalities in the measurements. i plan to do cardio at first 3 times a week...perhaps more depending on the success of that so we'll see...ultimately i think the deciding factor in losing the weight will be diet...i've already balanced it and i think if i stick to it i'll melt that fat away pretty quickly and then i can focus on gaining...
