And so WHO will determine if a certain shoe is either "club styled/oriented-ish and not athletic trainer-ish"??? The bouncer?...I think that THAT is quite the grey area and I would hate having to show up & like..."Sorry...everything is fine except your shoes"...I've had that happen before

i don't think that dress code will really be an issue .. i mean , expect nothing different from what the current crop of clubs considers as being 'club-worthy' wear ..

anything otherwise would just drive customers away which wouldn't make sense ..

or perhaps help us improve our wardrobes .. stylish doesn't always mean looking posh or gino, etc..

Honestly the bouncers shouldn't really care about what your shoes look like besides the ladies coz you know how much they love shoes
.........unless you are wearing safey boots or really worn out shoes.

Shouldnt be an issue AT ALL. Just look RESPECTABLE

The dress shoes that I own (not super formal shoes, you know the kind I mean though) are more comfortable than any Nikes or Reeboks or Addidas shoes I've ever owned.

that place looks awesome...but the real true test of a club is in the DJ's they bring in...and this place wins that big time....John '00' Fleming AND JOHAN....thats gonna be an up and coming huge party place...cant wait to see how the parties turn out..i hope it can hold lots of people too

I hope the dress code doesn't become an issue. I was really excited about the club opening up till I heard about this. I don't think I'd be at 'dress code standards' for most clubs, nor do I really have the desire to be. I like to come as I am. I have no desire for part of my night to be about dressing to impress (imo the that can sometimes attact a different crowd).

as he said buy many dress shoes are just as confortable, and try it out, youll see the world of a diff when you dress up

Jeez, people are making a big deal out of nothing. As long as you look cool you're in! Republik is new and I sincerely doubt they would turn anyone away during their first few months of operation over your attire.

TA's will be taken care of, no worries!

And the dress code is to keep street toughs and grungy looking folk out. I doubt you're going to get turned down for wearing phat pants and running shoes. Don't be so worried.

You dont have to dress like a thug to cause trouble. The worst fights that I've seen at a club involved people who you wouldnt even expect to cause anything.

it's tru .. take for example, with some jungle parties i've been too i've often felt a lot more safe than some trance events with some shadyass ppl about ..

appearances can sometimes be deceiving no doubt ..

this isn't to say that i wanna see sloppy dressed ppl at Republik, but ya get the idea ..

I signed up on the mailing list online for this place awhile ago, havent gotten anything, just wondering if there's anything special going on for opening night this saturday cuz one of my friends has her birthday happening this week and Republik sounds like the prefect place to celebrate

Hope things go well here...competition for the big guys is always welcome...keeps everyone on their toes

bringing in good 'big' DJs, but not overly commercial ones, like J00F and Gielen, automatically lends some credibility to the people who are running the place, IMHO.

I'm looking forward to the first reviews, as I likely won't be able to check it out until J00F...
