usually the ring has to be 3 times your monthly salary.

If you really wanna marry this girl, and you car for her, then you gotta get the right ring

and don't forget to negotiate at the jeweler, those guys have a big markup.

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Apr-05-2005 21:41:

you all need to stfu.. or post pictures of your gfs with moustaches

honestly theres nothing wrong with being a bit overweight.. im sure tta is concaucting a plan to make her loose weight or something. Ive seen dozens of girls at my gym loose tons of lbs over few months

plus beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. hell Zenchowdah
thinks jamie lee curtis is hot lol

i know this is aside from your ring request and all, and that you probably have drastically different beliefs than me, but i have such an incredibly hard time grasping the concept that anyone would have to get married to make a committment. i think that is why most marriages fail - because people think marriage in itself will bring committment and stability.

totally agree. i've heard so many people in serious relationships say "i cheat on my significant other now, but that will stop once i get married", as if getting married is all of a sudden going to kill their urge to fuck other people.

Posted by Streakfury on Apr-06-2005 00:12:

Congrats Andy!!

About the whole ring thing, I didn't read most of the thread, but when it comes to buying a ring, just choose one you'll think she'll like for whatever reason. It doesn't have to be overly expensive, but showing that you've clearly put some thought into buying her something you think she'll like shows how much you care about her far more than just wasting thousands of pounds on a ring just for the sake of spending thousands. And if any women try and convince you otherwise, they can cram it full of fake diamonds...

if thats a reference to how all the girls who have posted in here have said spend stupid amounts on a diamond ring then i whole heartedly agree.

i honestly dispair at the fact u feel u have to have a 2000+ rock on ur hand in order to be happy to be married to the person you love and if that really is the case then i wish u a lifetime of loneliness u money grabbing sluts.

As for andy congratz mate, wish u all the best. advice on rings : no clue as ive never looked into it but id agree with wot streak just wrote there.

for the record im not saying that i wouldnt necessarily buy my fiance an expensive beautiful ring, i just find it ridiculous for it to be some kind of prerequisite

Posted by igottaknow on Apr-06-2005 02:09:

better get use to it becuase thats what most women want. guess they're raised that way.

Posted by Orbax on Apr-06-2005 02:10:

yeah Malek already stated the common rule. 3 months pay. keeps it reasonable.

Posted by Ibizadreamer AG on Apr-06-2005 02:11:

oh for your backwards morons that might point out, why is TTA pointing this out, remember numbnuts that the next while to me is indefinite, meaning I could do it in May 06, June 05, Aug 07.

great news mate! congratulations

as far as rings are concerned, i might be a bit late, but tension-set diamonds look fucking fantastic and are pretty unique. although the price tag is usually large too because they can only use titanium or platinum to do it.

good luck mate

for some people, the ring isn't a "requirement" for happiness in a marriage. i mean, i really don't care how big my rock is, but my boyfriend won't let me get away with having something "modest"... that's just how he is. i think it's more of a status symbol that you can show off to other people and make them all googley eyed at how amazing the ring is. it won't make me love my boyfriend any more or less.

i've never been the type of girl to expect outrageous material possessions.

well i'm just saying. you guys maybe thinking "greedy bitches", but then the flip just looks like "cheap ass jerk"...

all i know is that when i find someone i want to spend the rest of my life with, i'm gonna get her a nice ring because it'll be a symbol of my feelings for her and it'll make her happy. i'm sure all little girls dream about beautiful weddings and all that shit so that's what i'm gonna give my wife...

and if we get divorced...i'm gonna steal the ring off her cheating ass finger in the middle of the night, go pawn it, and spend the cash on hookers and boose!

yes but an engagement ring should really be platinum anyway.

Posted by Orbax on Apr-06-2005 17:46:

As a girl wouldnt you want your husband to like...be responsible with money and have 5000 in liquid cash to have in case you needed it or somethiing else needed buying?

and every girl I know with platinum hates it because it tarnishes like a bitch and is heavy. They are constantly aware of it being on their finger.

My friends dad bought his wife a 30,000 dollar ring.......

for their 20th anniversary.

yeahhhh. she doesnt even wear the fucking thing. If he wasnt such a large man id try to scream sense into him. "you want to do something meaningful!? sponsor someone to go through college or help someone be able to eat every month....but this?!"

it comes down to this: THere are infinite things to spend money on, and putting a circle of metal on finger flesh is one of the more obscure, tribalistic, dragging a club in the ground bullshit ways to do it. "Heres a dope ring, didnt cost too much, but you now have access to my 30,000 checking account. Lets see what we can invest in." *swoon*
