| Originally posted by ogvh5150 You would be naive into thinking that any aggression against North Korea was done on sheer accident. You act as if the US has a mind of it's own. Your anti-american sentiment; was it born with you or did you conjure this up out of your own free will? Me a spin machine, that's funny. I am not a supporter of nor do I condone any foreign or domestic policy from this or any administration. What I can tell you is that you are trying to push your opinion of anti-americanism as if that is going to change anything. I am also alighting you of the burden that the opinion gathered in your mind is something most likely brought on by some external force, most likely by any recent events. This is propogated by your self indulgence of the matter by colorful comments like "bloody Americans should mind their own God damn business". We "bloody Americans" have no control of the government and it's wanton actions that you speak so highly of. The US is not acting alone despite what you think is the contrary. If you think the US is acting alone I have a bridge on the River Thames to sell you. |

What you've stated is a point of view that you couldn't have possibly come up with on your own without some sort of outside intervention. I made a point of this to tell you that you do not speak for whatever political climate you come from. Your wanton statement is without regard to any known or unknown facts.
Since you came to this conclusion, it is my belief that you do not know what you are talking about since what you claim is an overstatement.
You do not provide facts just useless bar room rhetoric.
Fact is that you were not born with disdain with the US and it's governmental foreign policy aside from what was told and shown to you from your television that you seem to trust so much.
If the tv, or tele depending on what side of the pond your on, told you that there are people out to hurt you and these same people on the tube made you to give up your liberties then you would do so. All on the count of the tv is so trusting.
[sarcasm]The tv wouldn't lie to you. Not in the slightest bit.[/sarcasm]

I love threads like this! Here's my bit!
I hate US foreign policy. I the current lot take the stand, if you're not with us you're against us.
Iraq is a stupid, stupid mistake. Many dictatorships have been over thrown by the native population through the work of the UN.
Iraq was simply to 'finish what daddy started', no two ways about it. It's a complete sham. I'm not his biggest fan, but MIcahel Moore does raise good points on this.
Bush is too scared to deal with the countries that need to be really dealt with, e.g. North Korea and Iran etc. And why won't he deal with them? 'cos they could put up a fight, and one that he can't afford to start.
I hate the fact that he ignored the Kyoto treaty and is drilling in Alaska - he hasn't got two brain cells to rub together.
And what amazes me even more, is the friendly, intelligent American citizens who voted him in!!

| Originally posted by George Smiley Er...I have no idea what this means but in the UK the Universities are funded by the government (and the books/journals we get information from are funded by private companies) The media is funded by themselves with the exception of the BBC which is funded by the British public (and selling programmes abroad) Can you please tell me what your point is when you write something? It would clear up a lot of confusion. And where do you get your information from? We can rule out education or the media (as you say they cannot be trusted if thats what you mean?) so where do your opinions come from? The government? |
