HOLY SHIT!!!
BT just dominated the whole thing and then above&beyond just kept up the pace and ripped the place apart!
the one more song chant at the end, it worked! till the bouncer ended it..
also, whats was up with me, markus, and chris being the only TAs at the meetup?

Posted by SeismicUpgrade on Jul-23-2005 18:08:

PH1/Vivid brought in the BEST sound that I've evar heard @ Plush. It still made my drinks fall off the tables, but the bass was very crisp, and nothing sounded distorted. Top Notch!

And yes, always bring earplugs to these events!!

Posted by Mark on Jul-23-2005 18:22:

it was a good party. much better than i expected. the crowd was quite different from the usual trance party crowd at plush which is a good thing!

the stereo was good and my ears are still ringing a little at this very moment. yikes!

BT's tracklist:
tiesto - love comes again
bt - dreaming
bt - force of gravity (ferry corsten remix)

above & beyond tracklist:
super8 - cre8
motorcycle - as the rush comes (new above & beyond 2005 remake?)
antidote - velocity (TUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i can't believe i got to hear this live!!!! )
madonna - what it feels like for a girl (a&b remix) <--- my friend and i decided to sit down and just rest up the rest of the way but then i heard this tune coming in and i rushed back out

ps: maybe i am starting to grow out of the trance phase but i really really liked BT's set over above and beyond's.

Posted by alligator on Jul-23-2005 18:22:

besides the required ear plugs which were not in attendace, the place rocking and bt ripping everying in sight, only to see a&b continue the wildness...the only conclusion i have about last night's event is

"a show where even a trance hater turned into a trance addict"

ph1 & vivid, props for putting this show on...

sorry, i would have been there but i was outside selling the three extra tickets I had. i'm sure you guys saw me out there in the black shirt. what a pain but i got rid of them in time to see bt tare up the place. Just pounding at plush, and above and beyond next time i'm definately bringing earplugs no questions asked. i think that above and beyond blew one of the speakers near the end but it might have been my ears. props to everyone who made it out to this one. i wish i had the money for shultz and mike. maybe next time I'll make the ta meetup.

anyone going to colette at caprice on thursday????

alright! i'll pass this info along to my friends. i need to start filling up my schedule for my extra long weekend (4 days!).

unless i am doing the roadtrip to tofino though.

I thought the sound was okay, not great. BT's set sounded distorted, while A&B's set was sounding better but still a little distorted. The bass was good though.

Posted by DJ NEMESIS on Jul-23-2005 19:30:

That was a wicked show. I only caught the last bit of BTs set but it was wicked and made me wish I was able to get there earlier. He rocked it!! I was very hungover from the night before so I didn't feel too high energy but it was still fun. A&B was good.. but not nearly as good as when just Paavo played last time I thought. 1.5 hrs went by pretty quickly. The crowd was pretty decent as well it seemed.

great show all in all.. thanks again Arpy for havin me!

T

p.s. and yeah the sound could have used turning down just a touch. it was pretty deafening at times! maybe just the mid and high turned down a bit. mostly the high mid though that hurts your ears.

+1

ow my ears, lol. awesome night though both BT & Above & Beyond were bouncing the whole night and getting really into the music. thought it was 10x better then pvd who just stands there. outstanding sets and i can't wait to see them again, great job ph1 and booo security staff at plush.

and i don't know who was doing the warm-ups, i saw i think 2 or 3 of them up there but by far the best warm-ups i've heard, great job to those guys.

sorry about the loudness, that's the one thing the promoter has no control over... that's up tot he dj to decide what's acceptable... some of these guys are going deaf.. wonder why :P

so what's peoples opions on things.... as you may all know we have a really long history @ Sonar, but has done shows recently @ Tokyo/richards/plaza ... what do you guys like to see? Personally, I like the smaller show more.. but I know alot of people like the huge stuff

Posted by sw1 on Jul-23-2005 20:13:

Did you guys see Big Fish's "sister"? It was dark, but she looked hot. They did seem a little cozy...

Posted by marcusus on Jul-23-2005 20:25:

So that meetup went well :P

There was me, and two other guys who's names elude me (sorry guys... jet lag + booze makes me forgetful). Where were the rest of you? Ahh well...

Still a killer night. I'm glad I brought my earplugs with me from home
Proper sound filter ones too. Too bad it was still loud even with those in. Still, I know it saved my hearing.

BT was pretty nutso. A lot more breaksy than I thought it would be, but nonetheless good.

Above & Beyond...
Birth Of An Angel (that's Shivers without any lyrics) vs It's My Turn. Pure Gold! Their set got a bit darker in the middle, with a whole bunch of tracks I didn't recognise, but still kept me going strong. Hearing Motorcycle again was pretty cool, and the same with Madonna.

Does anyone know what the last track was they played with the male vocals?

for me the venue doesn't matter too much as long as everything that goes with the show is top notch, like yesterday was, good screens everywhere, the lasers, the speakers and the look so that the dj is also happy when he plays.

will it every be possible to go later then three am at any venue in vancouver? just curious

also like to add that the stage for the ferry corsten show was the best last night was very good as well.

Unfortunately we were not able to secure a suitable Internet connection for the evening but have captured all of the action of BT's performance, including some crowd shots.

Once we have the footage edited and approved, we will be scheduling a rebroadcast of the show, along with the audio portion being played as well.

Our crew wanted to take this chance to thank Arpy from PH1 for his help in getting us set up and for his part in producing such an great event. Even though they were on the job, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Special thanks to BT for allowing us to film and for the great show. As well, Above & Beyond put on a great show... I heard from our crew they're playing some exciting unreleased material! I know people in Toronto will enjoy what's in store for them tonight.

I'll let you all know when we plan on broadcasting this - if you were at the event and saw the ETN.fm + SAS-TV crew, you might even be able to find yourself in the video

Hahahah....fuck man I lost my hearing by the speakers and lost my voice to A&b's air for life!...lol.
good times.

KarateKid

The last track Above&Beyond played was their new single...

I'm pretty sure it's called 'Alone Tonight'

BT was absolutely amazing!

Special thanks to PH1 and Tigerstone for putting on such a great night. Top notch all around!

Quick question, where would I be able to find some custom made earplugs, I saw a lot of people wearing them and BT was as well.

My hearing is worth the $100-200 it would cost to get some custom ones made.

sorry for missing the meetup guys!
i had to go back home cause i forgot my vinyl sleeve to have it signed got to the club at 11:45 saw some people by the ciggy machine but i wasnt sure if they were TAs or not, didnt recognize anyone so i just kinda walked by heh i really hope to meet you guys tonight at schulz and push party

BT was meh, very commercial sounding, the kind of stuff you'd hear on the beat heh. paavo and jono, came, destroyed and conquered. it is too bad they only got an hour and a half to play :\ fck the lights came on at 2:50. i love paavo, he's such a great guy. very friendly, chatty and crazy to top it all off. i think its great that jono was there too, they both got the chance to interact with the crowd more than if it was just one of them. and they were playing all the right tunes too, the level of energy didnt go down by a bit throughout the whole set.

some of the tunes that a&b played:
ozgur can - eighties
peter martin presents anthanasia - simply blue
above and beyond - air for life
andy moor - halcyon
super8 - alba
and a kick ass tune towards the end with male vocals, got it on a short vid, maybe someone can ID it

i'll post the pics in an hour or so

thanks to arpy and all the promoters involved for putting on a nice event

we would like to see more shows being put on at nicer venues (Plush is ok considering the amount of people it can hold.) But after seeing Dave Seaman at Plaza with their nice sound system in there, it would be awesome if you guys could book Plaza on a Friday night or Saturday night. (i know it's impossible, just wishful thinking here. )

more shows on the weekends would be nice too
