the biggest problem still is that people such as the sly one will continue to push others or not fully support it, whoevers chosen (and imo it should be sum1 who's contributed here, there's enough of them who're good enough and haven't just spammed shit) should get it, but that's the ta inside of me wanting one of our own to win & not just some guy who sees us as a promotion tool

Thought the poll had a far larger amount of voters, considering the value some people attach to its results.

Anyway, TA definitely could have an influence (in any way, shape or form) on the final outcome if your numbers are accurate.

Last year they announced that figure, claiming it to be the "largest number yet". I guess that the top jock gets about 10-15k votes at most.

I think ID&T & Tisto's whole reasoning (well, publicized reasoning ) behind the first TiC was, "If 25,000 people voted for him, why not fill a stadium with those people?" or something like that.

Reasonable, though still a very small figure when you see how much hyping one gets (especially the last few years) from being chosen as #1..

stop taking this shit too seriously (well some of you anyway). what's this talk about "oh random dj will get gigs and he/she will die" blah blah? so what if they do? provided they have half decent skills and can beatmatch they're better than tiest0r already. add a few lines of coke and they ARE deserving of #1.

The whole thing djmag poll is a joke (why do i even need to state this on TA?), hence getting a random TA on there works for me. the objective is to expose this pos poll as a hoax, and TA has the numbers to do it (if there is enough support). the idea of going to other communities that equally despise the poll for votes is good, it's like a common allegiance against idiocy. Reminds me of the Ali G movie and how those two rival gangs banded together against a common foe rofl. booyakasha!

Alright, put up that poll Neo and we will find the chosen one.

btw, i nominate chris pana and DJ muli.

1. DJ Mikey mike
2. Sasha
3. Nick Warren
4. Desyn
5. Digweed

is this what my top 5 is gonna look like? what does mikey mike spin again?

i think someone should join up as a dummy username that looks like some noob Counter Strike alias; something like ULTIM8_SNIP4H

i can see the top 5 going:

1. ULTIM8_SNIP4H
2. Tiesto
3. Armin
4. PVD
5. Sasha

Worthy Candidate.

Yup, I listened to some of his mixes and I really enjoyed them, so my pick is him aswell .

Cool

Besides showing the idiocy of this poll I think this would also attest to the power of organization on these forums, I'm anxious to see if it happens. One minor step might be to make this thread sticky.

Yeah I think its stupid idea aswell but i made my vote, No way anybody from here can compete with Tiesto's popularity in the world, even though he isnt such a good DJ nowdays, or even Armin, Ferry or PvD but what worth a try I guess.

And we know that. All we want is for the DJ to appear somewhere on the list, be it 1 or 100. I'd be ecstatic just to see the chosen person get 100. It would still be a nice little slap to the poll.

Posted by JasonThomas on Aug-18-2005 01:16:

HAHA great idea here. I think it's great, but I also think we should showcase some of the really talented DJs in the Amateur Forum. Corentin Emprou, Richard Raiban, Stu Cox and Steven Hays come to mind.

How would the poll be a farce if this succeeded? It would show that the voting is fair and if an amature-nobody gets votes they can be on the list.

I dont think we will be able to put anybody on this list unless DJ mag knows who they are. Sure the other DJ's might be spamming their asses off right now but I dont think it will work for us because it looks too much like bullshit, the real djs can at least pretend that they aren't spamming.

^^^If this happened THEN we would know it's a farce.

I would like to nominate another DJ here: DJ Metatron. Very talented DJ.

This vote isn't to support any DJ who's name has already been on the list nor a DJ who has a large amount of fame outside of TA (although, Haak can be an acception ).

so then why dont we all just vote for the worst dj possible.

I can see this is already turning slightly into a 'vote for dj from my local ish area or country' so maybe to save it from doing so, we should have each local forum put forward a candidate?

Posted by d-miurge on Aug-18-2005 11:15:

don't forget Lolo aka Airwave!

Posted by bananas on Aug-18-2005 11:37:

If for someone who has no skills, and haven't touched decks in his live, but only to show stupidity of the poll...
Than it's meh. :]]

obviously that won't work either, because there aren't an equal amount of users in each regional forum. You can't pit a TOTA DJ and all of their support against one from Latin America, it'd just be a massacre.

My word. How can someone come this far into the discussion and still not get the point at hand here?
