But I don't think it will get that far anyway....

I think they did use that guy, and he sucked ass then, good thing the spankees don't have him now....

I meant we could use him back and if you look at his stats for the 2nd half of the year, he was the 2nd best to Johan Santana.

Another thing, every Red Sux fan I know always glosses their own team but never, ever says anything out of respect for the Yankees. But I'll admit right now, there is no scarier hitter on the planet than David Ortiz. And the combo of ManRam and him is even scarier!!

A Rod and Sheff are good but not like those two in pressure packed situations.

Back to back jacks by those guys.... impressive!

He was the Director of Scouting back then. He is now an assistant to the General Manager in San Diego. When I was reading Moneyball it was weird to see him in the book. I've only met the guy a couple of times though.

Another reason I'd root for San Diego but I'm afraid they're getting swept.

Whoa. He's your Uncle? He's actually scouted quite a few great players over the years.

Rarely do you see back-to-back opposite field homeruns.

Yeah, he's my aunt's husband. My aunt has always lived in California and away from our family so I don't see her or him that often. He's a nice guy though. After Oakland he went to Texas as the Ass't GM but he had a falling out with Tom Hicks since he was told he was gonna follow John Hart and later changed their minds. Now they got that 28 yr old there and my uncle is in San Diego with his friends down there. I'd prefer to live in San Diego though, it freaking rocks!

I tried on his world series ring from 1989, I bet you haven't done that?

Nailbiter between White Sox and Red Sox

wow, huge pitching performance by El Duque, bailing out Marte's almost-choke performance, getting out of the bases-loaded no-out jam, then getting both Ortiz and Manny out.

damn, nice squeeze play by the ChiSox for an insurance run in the 9th

ChiSox complete the sweep!
First playoff series win since 1917!
Renteria ending the Red Sox season yet again

Say hello to Manny in Flushing!!!

Sorry Red Sux fans, eat it. Where's that comeback you keep talking about?

Your.... season.... is..... over.....

Don't be gay.

Dammit ... I didnt even get a single point from Red Sox for my baseball pool these playoffs ... sigh ...

Oh well, there's still 3 other battles I can win!

You mean gay as in happy right? Is that even more gay for you?

Ok, I won't say anymore because it will give it a greater chance that the Yankees will lose and I'll have to read those comments. But still... he hehehehehehehe

Then the chances of me winning the TA baseball playoff pool will be ruined.

I just had a sneaky feeling inside Randy would suck Donkey Kong. What a worthless performance! Looks like White Sox vs. Angels.

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-08-2005 01:20:

At this point, I hope for White Sox v. Braves.

Posted by Member of X on Oct-08-2005 01:24:

I'll be rooting for the White Sox when they play the Angels...

I hope the NL doesn't field a team because I don't like any of them.

LOL, Shamez, if Braves make the World Series, you have a strong chance at winning the TA playoff pool since noone picked them to go that far. So if I was you I'd be cheering for Angels since noone picked them to win and if they go far then it will be actually good for you (baseball pool terms-wise)

I'm telling you... this is the Braves year. No one even thinks about them in the playoffs anymore.

Posted by partyhopper on Oct-08-2005 22:08:

in perhaps the biggest game of the season so far, the Big Unit put up a Big Stinker

thanks to the rain, if the Yanks are to make it to the ALCS, they would have to play Sunday in NY, Monday in Anaheim, then Tuesday in Chicago.
Same for the Angels, unless they win Game 4 and clinch the series.

With the bullpen the Braves have this year, even Devil Rays can beat them in playoffs. Gives up about 4 runs a game. Plenty for opposition. I am disgusted. I cant believe this issue wasnt resolved before the start of the playoffs on Braves' behalf. Bad decision making on someone's behalf.

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-09-2005 03:03:

They only have to win 2 more. Not that hard.

Posted by partyhopper on Oct-09-2005 09:28:

unfortunately, an upset by the Padres was not in the cards (pun intended)
Maybe the Cards made the Pods upset about how they played

yup, in Game 3 against the Astros, 3 relievers in a row went a total of 0.0 innings, i.e. they failed to get a single out, and gave up 4 runs

at least the Braves got Kyle Farnsworth at the trading deadline, and have made him into an effective closer, as he went 10 for 10 in save opps during the regular season. Much like the Yanks, getting the ball to the closer is the big challenge.

Posted by partyhopper on Oct-09-2005 20:18:

at last, Farnsworth gets his turn to fizzle in Game 3
First giving up the grand slam to Berkman in the 8th, then Ausmus' game-tying (barely) homer with 2 outs in the 9th

hot damn, almost a series-ending walk-off homer by Luke Scott, going just barely foul

Tell me about it. I've been watching the whole game .. I am disgusted.
