the home vs. away rule
where lets say a real situation

1st game
2-0 swits win against turky @ switzerland
then:
4-2 Turkey wins @ turkey

the difference is the same 2 goals !!
Extra time is fair
penalties = fair

but non of thaese apply, in this situation swits go through

^^^ b/c it is harder to score on the road and plus they don't want teams playing defense to win games 1-0 so they'd rather have more offense and goals thereby making it more exciting for the fans and all. I know sometimes it hurts your teams like that but hey belive me sahand this rule killed some of my teams as well but there's nothing you can do about it. The rule is there to promote the game in a way, otherwise all teams would do what calgary flames (new jersey devils of old) are doing now and that is play D which translates to boring games!!

The one fifa rule that is just simply stupid or gay or retarted or whatever you can call it is that it lets more teams from other continents to qualify for the world cup. No disrespect, but teams such as Angola, Togo, Trininad & Tobago, Australia, Saudi Arabia etc. are in the world cup while teams like Denmark, Norway, Turkey, Greece, Russia, Uruguay, Chile, Columbia are all out and it could have also been teams like Spain, England or France easily if not for last day wins. This is just simply ridiculous b/c it degragates the quality football that is what world cup is suppose to be. World Cup should be about the BEST teams in the world competing vs one another, NOT about diversity and culture, which makes the quality weaker. I'm going to probably my only world cup of soccer ever this summer, and now instead of getting a ticket for a high quality soccer match, I'll probably end up getting like Togo vs Trinidad. If that happens, i'll just throw my ticket away, no need to watch that shit. I'd rather go see Toronto Croatia vs Vaughan Shooters of the CPSL!!!

Nah. Those bastard latin american refs will screw canada over again.

Yay!! Always an entertaining summer of nonsense in my hood (Dufferin and St. Clair). As long as the Italians lose I'm happy :P.

What I can't wait for 1s 2010 South Africa... Everyone is invited to my fam's place in Cape Town to party it up which is 10 minutes away from the soccer stadium. Damn so far away.

I doubt Ukraine can be in pot 4. Ukraine was the 1st team to qualify from Europe.

Posted by TRANCEEEE on Dec-04-2005 18:54:

has nothing to do with that
it depends on their world ranking
as well as variety in the groups
so that no countries from the same continent are gropued together

Hmm, that seeding seems a little bit odd to me, but oh well, in two days it's official lets see then

Posted by TRANCEEEE on Dec-04-2005 19:27:

^^^
edit :

1. Germany will be in group A
2. With the exception of Europe, NO group may contain 2 teams from the same continent. Europe may have as much as 2 in the same group.
3. The top 8 seeds will be determined partially based on FIFA ranking (and most likely previous WC experiences.

Posted by Tiesto4Life on Dec-04-2005 19:34:

Europe could have more than 2 per group sahand. But in the end it's not gonna matter, nobody is going through Brazil this year. My left nut is still on the line.

Posted by TRANCEEEE on Dec-04-2005 19:46:

true
but fak i wish they didn't use that stupid ranking system
its gonan be gay
ukrain + aussi will prob be 4th seeded , while saudi arabia = 3rd
fak that

Posted by Yohan on Dec-04-2005 20:37:

Hmmm... Surprised Paraguay made it over Uruguay. Didn't know Paraguay finished higher. No Chilavert for that team though.

Africa is all fucked. No Nigeria, no South Africa and no one knows much about other teams, except for Ivory Coast. Drogba is going to run some defenders ragged.

Iran could also be a dark horse and knock out some teams. At least there's no US in their group to distract them.

Maybe US will go further than round of 16 this time. Friedel always seems to step it up a notch more during WC. And no Jeff Agoos this time.

Doubt Korea will for this time. Maybe round of 16. No Hiddink to lead, but they do have Dick Advocaat as manager. Koreans will try to run their opposition ragged, and they have the players to do that, but central defence may be shaky with Choi Jin Cheul on his last tourney and Hong Myung Bo retired.

Would be very interesting if Croatia and Serbia meets some time during the tourney. Bring the riot police lol.

Ukraine may be another dark horse, but I don't think Shevchenko is enough to get them past the group stage.

Australia on a very emotional high and may finally work together as team. The quality is there and Hiddink in charge, they may go far. Another dark horse
