last hour and a half was the best ever for me.

umm ill write some more soon.

Posted by charlee on Dec-11-2005 02:30:

Well I piked out a little early so my review with be short. Luke Chable was too electro for my liking but had the sound in full swing just in time to hand over to sasha. Dean played a great set upstairs (may have been a little too hard for some). I ended up leaving not long after this so I saw very little of sasha!! (nice one charlee). I have nothing to compare it to as I had never seen him before. I did enjoy it although I am starting to feel the pull back to trance

Was great to see the TA alliance out and about. Thanks for the hospitality guys.....always a pleasure!

I am sure Steve May, Al Mac & Drew K had a good time....I just cant check right now as they are all passed out on the floor

Posted by Virginia_L on Dec-11-2005 06:18:

OK, started off with Keitel..Brillant as always!!!
Chable.. HMmmmMMMmmmMMm ??
Sasha was great, loved some of the tunes he played.

Was good to see you TA's!!!

Posted by eROs.au on Dec-11-2005 09:19:

was a great night.

Sasha was unbelievable.

it was also great to meet you TA's

Posted by steve_may on Dec-11-2005 09:31:

mad night, sasha 0wn3d and luke played a great warm up, some tunes in his bag i never heard before. nice

Posted by mikkaa on Dec-11-2005 11:00:

Was a good night, but don't think it compares to Diggers a month ago (at least the first 2 hrs of Digweed). Didn't feel that his set had as much direction as I'd expect. Probably because he was using Abelton live, his set was probably focused more on live remixing, rather than on transitions....I guess I'm judging him on a DJ set, rather than on a live performance.

Regardless, he did play some banging tunes which were very baseline driven, and he did have the crowd going for most of his set.

Posted by tachyon on Dec-11-2005 11:08:

sasha was the bomb!!

however,

wasn't exactly sasha essential mix from alley palley but he's worthy of the admission price .. i reckon he is way better DJ than the performance he put on last night..

had an awesome time still, spent most of the times after his set looking after basix21 from causing mischief and eradication of qbh's property (and premises)

good to finally meet you too eros sorry wasnt that talkative .. blame my sleep deprivation!

hahah what did he do

Posted by Nyquist_Theorem on Dec-11-2005 11:38:

wow, what a weekend. thanks heaps for all the sasha-goers that came a lit up altitude afterwards, man with a red face dancefloor go boom say what?

IMO sasha should stick to DJing in the traditional vinyl/CDs sense. He just looks to me like he's checking his email up there - the computer/maven combo thingie would perhaps be workable if he had cox's energy behind the controls (or at least a pulse) but combine autopilot ableton mixing with the 'standing in line waiting to board a flight' expression on his face half the time, and blah.

Nice to hear the Flying Doctors - We Make Contact same mix that's on a mix I've posted up on my blog go off, sounds superb on a big system.

When I saw him at Fabric last year, he played a number of classic tunes - Apollo 440's Liquid Cool and FSOL's Cascade spring to mind, but there seemed to me much less a 'celebration of sasha's sound' and more of 'ooer, whats this, a university diploma from Uganda for $200, hmm, delete that'

overall a great night, great to see all the usual suspects out in force - join the prog side scotty!

Posted by sLiCk_NiCk on Dec-11-2005 12:58:

top night

good to see some familiar faces there early before the main event. didnt get a chance to catch keitel unfortunately.

heard most of chables set and wasnt really impressed, i think for a warm up set he played to many big tracks and the set didnt really flow often going from electro house to elctro prog. i tihnk he should stick to producing for the time being.

then the time had come for the man, SASHA. got off to a decent start and had me moving. towards the middle of the set he was a bit flat but as top class dj knows to do, he just dropped a big ass bassline which ripped through the crowd. his last hour and a half would go down as one of the best Ive seen. had some really chunky basslines but with a funked up feel about them.dont know what to call it really...played a bit of prog..electro prog even and dropped the vocal tracks when they needed to be dropped...remember the vocal tracks are the ones u gotta work towards to get the crowd roaring imo.

thanks to mark for letting us come backstage and have a talk to sasha. he was in a very good mood which was good, he was happy, i was happy..thats all that mattered

and thats sasha for another year, the master.

Yeah wicked night. Gav was great as usual to start off with, but then Chable came on and was all over the place really. Played a few okay tracks, but the set really didn't have any flow or structure at all. He played the warm-up set for Sasha last year as well and was actually pretty good from memory (played his more typical prog / breaks style), but I think the consensus this time round was that he "sucked balls", am I right?

As for Sasha, man he had me hooked by like the 3rd track. Probably the toughest I've seen him play and I can't remember him letting up for even a second - pretty much tough, stabby prog music for the entire four hours. Probably the best set I've heard from him yet, overall. Not an awful lot of variety over the four hours, but shit - why mix it up if what you're playing works so well?

But yeah, it was a great night and it was good to catch up with all the TAs who were there too.

Haha, yes there was a bit of late night mischief to be had, but it was all under control I think.

Posted by AnitA on Dec-11-2005 21:58:

I had high expecations of Sasha and he didn't deliver nowhere near as good as Digweed did. His set dragged on and only started banging it out towards the end - I think that's the only time I heard some noise from the 'quiet' crowd. The vibe and atmoshpere was lacking big time as well as poor crowd turnout, which was surprising.

Good times were had nonetheless.

Nice to see you TAs there. Virginia, you're the best.

Nikko, you little groupie . You better email me the pic of you guys with Sasha.

HAIL DIGWEED!!

*Cough* Cirez D - Knockout & Cirez D - Re-Match

Loved it when sasha played westbam - old skool baby and Huggotron new track..wicked!

Had a better time at Digweed by far!

... You took the words right out of my mouth, James
At least I didn't want to throw fruit at him

Electro and Chable just don't mix. Quite disappointed and quite stressful as had to stop various TA's from killing themselves during his set.

at least i didn't remove myself from the club of my own volition - the bouncers did it for me

plus it was the locals playing tech house, not Sasha
